Unexpectedly, I found a hidden gem in Granada that is both quiet and stunning: the San Juan de Dios Church. Apart from the Alhambra, this is one of my most delightful discoveries in Granada. It's just an 8-minute walk from Granada Cathedral, all within the old town, so no need to take any transportation. This Baroque-style church is so exquisitely detailed inside that it takes your breath away. From the entrance onward, the golden dome, murals, and sculptures create a visually rich experience, yet very few visitors come here, making it perfect for leisurely photography and quiet appreciation. The ticket price is 10 euros, which includes access to the interior of the church (dome, main altar, side chapels). Tickets can be purchased on-site at the church entrance. The exterior doesn't reveal any surprises; all the highlights are inside. Photography is allowed inside the church. Personally, I think the natural light is best in the morning or at noon. It cost 55 euros when purchased and includes a reservation time for the Alhambra, 9 bus rides, and 1 small train ride. There were 2 bus rides left at the end. b. Stay near Granada Cathedral. Many attractions are within walking distance. The airport bus also has a stop at the cathedral. The 48h card can be picked up at the bus stop near the cathedral. The small train boarding point is also near the cathedral. c. The 48h card is calculated by natural time. Pick it up at the bus stop Gran Via 7 (specific location in the comments for self-pickup). d. The small train can only be ridden once, about one and a half hours. You cannot get off midway. There is free navigation on board, but you need to bring wired earphones yourself, otherwise you have to pay 1.5 euros to buy earphones. e. Airport bus costs 3.1 euros. After picking up luggage, follow the signs to find the bus. Show the driver your stop and swipe the card when boarding. f. Screenshot the 48h card PDF in advance. Attractions scan the QR code on it, buses swipe the physical card. After each swipe, the remaining rides are displayed. 2. Checked-in Attractions: Add any missed attractions in the comments. Day 1: Arrive at Granada airport at 9 am - airport bus departs at 9:30 am - arrive near the cathedral at 10 am - check in & have breakfast - pick up the card and start visiting around 11 am a. Granada Cathedral: Highly recommended, very beautiful and impressive. b. Royal Chapel: Also near the cathedral but no photos allowed. There is a simple tomb chamber downstairs, not too dark. c. Alcaiceria (Arab Market): Okay, quite small, finished quickly. Bought a fridge magnet. d. Corral del Carbon: Free admission but not sure what it is for. e. Casa de los Tiros Museum: Staff asked where I was from, I said China, and he said free admission! The collection is quite tasteful, pretty good. f. Reserved entry to the Alhambra at 3 pm. Took the bus at 2 pm to the Gate of Justice, allowing 30 minutes to queue from the bus stop to the Alhambra line; after getting off, follow navigation to the Gate of Justice, then go straight in. There are staff at both the upper and lower palace entrances. The entrance with many people and umbrellas is the Alhambra entrance. Ask staff if unsure. Note: late arrivals are not allowed in. Tickets are checked by scanning passports. It was cloudy and rainy, still took 3 hours to finish. g. Did not go to the viewing platform due to cloudy rain. Sunset at 6 pm. Day 2: Left around 9:30 am - waited for the small train at 2 pm - boarded at 2:30 pm - returned to the starting point at 4 pm - visited the last church at 4:30 pm - back to the hotel before 6 pm - departed for the bus station at 6:30 pm a. Cartuja Monastery: Stunning, highly recommended. b. University of Granada: Free, very chill. c. Santuario: Free. d. Monastery of San Jerónimo: Okay, but no restroom. e. Small train f. Abadía del Sacromonte: Note the opening hours. Take bus C34 uphill to see the snowy mountains. It’s a bit far but recommended. The tomb chamber is eerie, didn’t go inside.

Hidden on the edge of the city, this monastery is not only a pinnacle of Spanish Baroque art, but also a historical witness to the conquest of Granada by the Catholic Monarchs. The monastery's construction took over three centuries, resulting in an architectural style that blends Gothic and Renaissance influences, ultimately stunning the world with its exquisitely luxurious Baroque style. Enter a palace of light, shadow, and art The orange trees and grand staircase at the monastery's entrance warmly welcome every visitor. The bright cloisters, dominated by pure white, with graceful colonnades surrounding a central fountain, offer a sense of tranquility. However, it's the interior of the church that truly takes your breath away. Pure Baroque style reigns supreme, with its exquisite dome, magnificent frescoes, and spacious choir area—every detail is filled with breathtaking beauty. The World's Most Beautiful Sacristy If you could only choose one place to visit in the monastery, it would definitely be the sacristy. I stood there, completely captivated by the sight. White stucco blended seamlessly with the marble base, rising to a filigree vault. That day, a gentle light streamed down from the ornate cornice, dancing and playing along the curves of the walls, transforming the entire space into a magnificent vessel floating in the light, light and divine. Entrance to the monastery is 7 euros, including a free audio guide. Located slightly outside the city center, it's relatively uncrowded, making it ideal for those seeking a more tranquil experience. Access is readily available, whether by car or bus.

#September2025 ✓ Arabic Baths: The Ultimate Indulgence for Body, Mind, and Soul When visiting Spain, you absolutely can't miss Hammam Al Ándalus, located at the foot of the Alhambra! This oldest Arabic bathhouse perfectly recreates the Andalusian style, and from the moment you step inside, you'll feel like you've stepped back into ancient times. A feast for the senses, an indescribable beauty. The baths boast four pools and a sauna, including two hot pools, one tepidarium, and one cold pool. I personally highly recommend adding a massage! I opted for a 30-minute massage with hot stones and rooibos tea, and it was absolutely amazing. I never imagined a bathing experience could offer so many sensory experiences. Breathtaking views greeted my eyes, fragrant aromas filled my nose, the soothing sound of running water filled my ears, and my skin and hair were left feeling softer than ever.
