Baroque art museum
Spanish Mediterranean Coast Tour ~ Barcelona (Region)
The Baroque Museum is an installation that interprets the Catalan Baroque artistic movement, presenting it in its entirety with reference to different sites. This is a permanent exhibition featuring works from all over the country. Although a small museum, it highlights this often overlooked period in art. If you love the Baroque style and want to know its traces in Catalonia, this is the museum for you!

Manresa is located in the interior of the province of Barcelona and is the capital of the Plà de Bages region.
Spanish Mediterranean Coast Tour ~ Barcelona (Region)
Its city center is located on a plain from which we can see the rocky outlines of the Montserrat Nature Reserve.
The houses of Manresa are arranged around the Basilica of Santa Maria della Sio. The building combines Romanesque and Renaissance elements, although it is primarily a Gothic structure.
These frescoes are also medieval and constitute important examples of Catalan Gothic painting. In the historic district we can see famous buildings such as the Town Hall, the Palace of Justice and the Bell Bridge. The bridge is associated with the cult of Saint Ignacio de Loyola in Manresa and the Santa Cova complex. This sanctuary was the home of Saint Ignacio de Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus, during his stay in town. As for modernist architecture, Manresa has some beautiful buildings, such as the one built by local architect Ignasi Oms i Ponsa. Some examples include the Torrents House, the Lluvià Tower, and the La Florinda Flour Mill. The Catalan industrial architecture of this town includes many other factories.

Unique Revitalized Historical Building
Mediterranean Coast Tour of Spain ~ Barcelona (Region)
We visited many museums, but this one is truly unique. Located in an old reservoir, it showcases the historical contributions of Manresa and its surrounding areas, along with a comprehensive explanation of the tools and techniques used in the textile industry over time. There’s also a fantastic area for kids to experiment, and it hosts temporary exhibitions that are both fun and culturally engaging. The museum is cool and pleasant, and the staff are incredibly friendly—100% recommended. Note: The exhibitions seem to be changing.

Magical place in the historic center of Manresa
Spanish Mediterranean Coast Tour ~ Barcelona (Region)
Its history dates back to the medieval times, where different trades were practiced, particularly dedicated to the tanning and processing of leather for a variety of uses, including shoes, clothing, gloves, animal bindings and a variety of other uses, in addition to the cultural satisfactions provided by the law and numerous other trades, which have made this city an important core for the well-being of its inhabitants, who have gone through several dark phases over the centuries since the Black Death and the many wars, making them currently a vibrant, modern city, backed by a rich history, a place that is highly recommended.

A true masterpiece of Catalan Gothic architecture
Spanish Mediterranean Coast Tour ~ Barcelona (Region)
The Collegiate Cathedral of Santa Maria is located at the top of Puigcardener. Popularly known as La Seu, it is considered one of the main buildings of Catalan Gothic.
It is located on a high ground and has housed an Iberian village, a Roman fortress and a Roman temple. The construction of the present building began in 1322 by the same architect of Santa María del Mar, Berenguer de Montagut, and was completed at the end of the 15th century, with Gothic as the dominant style. Nevertheless, subsequent interventions mean that we also find Renaissance, Baroque and even Neo-Gothic elements, such as the facade of the Baptistery.
Highlights of the Seu are the impressive rose window on the west facade, the clock and the crypt with a large marble chapel and eight Baroque medallions. Horizontally, two towers stand out: that of the Church of Santisimo and that of the Baptistery, both octagonal.
Inside we can see the Altarpiece of the Holy Spirit by the master Pere Serra, one of the most valuable works of 14th century Catalan painting.
Inside, I felt a sense of calm and grandeur that seemed to take me back to the past, when faith and art were inextricably linked.
