Andaz Tokyo (アンダーズ 東京) The Tavern Grill & Lounge (Evening Canapé Afternoon Tea)
The last session of the day for Afternoon Tea starts at 8 PM on the 51st floor, right in the heart of Tokyo. From the lounge, you can see the Tokyo Skytree, and as you step out of the elevator, the Tokyo Tower comes into view, making it a stunning high-rise experience.
Similar to the casual vibe of Andaz Seoul's Jogakbo, this venue also exudes a relaxed atmosphere. The tables are placed close together, making it slightly noisy, but the dim lighting and breathtaking views give it a charm reminiscent of Sofitel Latitude in Jamsil.
The 8 PM Evening Afternoon Tea features a light repertoire of six types of canapés, making it an easy choice even after dinner. The menu leans more towards savory dishes rather than sweets, making it perfect for pairing with alcohol.
With a 90-minute unlimited drink option (nomihodai), it’s a great spot for year-end gatherings or farewell parties. You can enjoy various types of highballs, wine, and draft beer, with sparkling wine served as cava.
The draft beer offered is Suntory Tokyo Craft, which has a smooth foam and a refined taste, prompting me to go for three more rounds. The highballs come with various mix options, and I tried the basil highball, which was delightful.
The six types of canapés are beautifully presented, making them perfect for pairing with a drink each. The selection includes karaage, tuna, shrimp, sandwiches, truffle, and vegetables, offering a light yet satisfying experience for the third session of Afternoon Tea.
One of the staff members, who is a Zainichi Korean, kindly assisted us with their limited Korean and Japanese, which was much appreciated. It was a special moment to experience Tokyo in a space filled with year-end vibes. The Tokyo Tower is always stunning. Thank you.
