📸 Lost in Tokyo, Found in Beauty: Marunouchi Square’s Timeless Charm 🏛️
I’d seen the iconic red-brick building of Marunouchi Square pop up on social media countless times, and it instantly made my must-visit list while in Japan. Known for its European-style architecture and deep historical charm, this area right outside Tokyo Station’s Marunouchi Exit is as photogenic in real life as it is online.
Getting There
Navigating Tokyo Station, however, is a different story. The station is massive and maze-like, and I found myself a bit lost trying to locate the correct exit. After asking around, I eventually found my way to the Marunouchi side, and once outside, the iconic view made the effort worthwhile.
What to Expect
The square opens up into a grand, open plaza with the stunning Tokyo Station façade as its centerpiece. It’s a popular photo spot, especially in the early morning or golden hour, when the lighting complements the historic architecture beautifully. Skyscrapers in the background add contrast and remind you you’re in one of Tokyo’s most upscale districts.
Whether you’re a photographer, architecture enthusiast, or just looking for a moment of calm in the city, Marunouchi Square offers a lovely slice of Tokyo elegance.

Final Verdict
A timeless photo spot in the heart of Tokyo. While getting there through the station can be confusing, the beauty of Marunouchi Square is more than worth the detour.
