130***22The Corner Book Bar in Altay is very literary. It is located by the Kelan River and is easy to find by walking along the river at night. Books and stationery are sold inside, as well as many tourist souvenirs. There are many interesting items on display, such as seagull cameras, wooden handmade ornaments, postcards, slow mail boxes, hair accessories, etc. On the wall of the second floor, there are tickets left by tourists and various tourist souvenirs. It is worth a look. I wrote postcards and mailed them to them. Next to it is a small cafe where you can sit and read books and chat. There are various travel stamps of the book bar here, which can be stuck on your own books as a souvenir.

The little bookstore of the same name "Corner of Altay" was so tempting that I wanted to experience Altay, the "origin of human skiing". After eating Altay's special snacks with my friends, I came to this "corner" which is extremely hard to find. When I entered the store, the "flavors" all around made me recall the past, so I used my mobile phone to record the fragments... I felt that the meaning of the journey is not in the scenic spot, but on the road, in that feeling...
A 3-day, 2-night itinerary for strolling through Altay is here! 🏔️ This small border town nestled in northern Xinjiang boasts a rich Kazakh flavor while also exuding a charming, artsy vibe. Snow-capped mountains, birch trees, and delicious food create a slow-paced travel experience. DAY 1️⃣ Arrive at Altay Airport in the morning ✈️ and head straight to 📍Jinshan Market (Altay Agricultural Products Wholesale Market). The dried fruit stalls here are piled high with apricots and figs, a popular shopping spot for locals. In the afternoon, visit 📍Altay's Corner Travel Bookstore (inside the Materials Bureau compound on Jiefang Road). This bookstore, hidden in an old courtyard, offers hand-drawn maps and special postcards. You can easily spend the afternoon here with a cup of milk tea. For dinner, be sure to try 📍Country Tandoor-Baked Meat First Shop (Tuanjie Road, District 10). Their tandoor-baked meat is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, absolutely delicious with naan! DAY 2️⃣ Wake up naturally (highly recommend the accommodation "Birch Forest Park"). 📍 Stroll along the 500-mile-long pedestrian street; the colorful Kazakh-style felt tents and handmade leather shops are super photogenic. 📸 For lunch, try the street-side baursak with milk tea. In the afternoon, take a walk to 📍Birch Forest Park. In autumn, the entire birch forest turns golden; the small wooden bridges and viewing platforms in the park are perfect for relaxing. DAY 3️⃣ In the early morning, go to 📍General Mountain to watch the sunrise and sea of clouds (20-minute taxi ride). On the way back, ask the driver to stop at 📍Camel Peak, a natural viewing platform offering panoramic views of the city. Before you leave, don't forget to pack two kilograms of tandoor-roasted meat to take on the plane! ✨Tips: 1. Taxis in the city center generally cost less than 10 yuan, but hiring a car is recommended for nearby attractions. 2. Xinjiang dishes are very large; three dishes are enough for two people. 3. Wear non-slip shoes in Birch Forest Park, as the wooden boardwalk can be slippery after rain. 4. Remember to bargain for the Kazakh embroidery handicrafts on the cultural street. #XinjiangTravel #OffTheBeatenPathTravelDestination #NorthernXinjiangFood #TravelWithXiaohongshu #NationalDayTravel
Preface: It's crucial to find the right travel companion, otherwise it can really delay your trip. (We were originally planning to head straight to Hemu this morning, but the leader of the group said there was no need to get up early and that we should just relax in Altay. So, we ended up resting in Altay for another day.) I woke up at 8:00 AM because I found an ethnic breakfast shop (Nurguli Milk Tea) that I highly recommend! ️ Seriously, it's super, super good! ️ The shop isn't very big, and the bill isn't particularly cheap. The two of us spent 54 yuan (we ordered two eggs, two baoersak, two bowls of milk tea, two servings of jam, one serving of seasonal vegetables, and one serving of tarmi). After breakfast, we went to the Altay Museum. No reservations were required; we could go straight in. It has four floors, with the main viewing areas on the 1st and 2nd floors, the 3rd floor for decoration, and the 4th floor for offices. As a relatively new regional museum, the collection isn't extensive, and the curation is somewhat average, but it still boasts some unique treasures. After visiting the Altay Museum, we went to a corner of Altay—the Travel Bookstore. I'd seen everyone recommending it online, so I decided to go. I checked in and took photos. (It's essentially a boutique, selling souvenirs, celebrity photos, and other ethnic gifts.) I noticed a lot of people checking in there too. PS: There's a nice cafe on the left side of the exit. (I didn't go there due to time constraints.) After our visit, my brother woke up, and we set off for Ulungur Lake around 3:00 or 4:00 PM. We used the navigation system to go directly to Ulungur Lake Golden Coast. At the entrance, you don't need to go in. Just turn left, then right, and keep going. You'll realize you don't need a ticket to see the beautiful Ulungur Lake. (Due to poor planning for the day, we didn't visit Silver Beach, the Sea Devil City, or Jili Lake.) It's truly stunning! I absolutely loved it. After watching it, I returned to Altay to rest... Summary: Actually, if you want to see Lake Ulungur, you can stay in Fuhai County, and it's quite affordable. There are also several scenic spots and attractions near Lake Ulungur, which you can explore along the way. And be sure to be careful when looking for travel partners! #XinjiangTravel #NorthernXinjiangTourism #XinjiangAltai #XinjiangUlungurLake #CornersofAltai
It only took four hours to fly from Beijing to Altay Xuefeng Airport, and the moment I landed, I was captivated by Xinjiang's blue skies! The airport is super small and fun to explore. After picking up my pre-rented car, my Altay road trip began! 👇Must-read before your trip! A one-day rest and recovery guide for Altay City Don't rush to the scenic spots right after landing! Restocking and adjusting to the city's pace is key. Remember these points: 1. Stocking up: Altay City has only 150,000 people, and the streets are incredibly empty, but the prices are comparable to those in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou! Dining in scenic areas is expensive and requires waiting for a table, so stock up! I recommend going to the "Department Store Supermarket": they have a wide selection of fruits, vegetables, instant noodles, and bread for your travel needs. Next to the supermarket is a market where you can buy portable gas stoves, gas stoves, and small pots! Cooking instant noodles on the road is even more delicious than in the scenic area. 2.🍽️Food tips and recommendations: We had a simple lunch, and without meat, it cost over 80 yuan per person! Big plate chicken for 200 yuan, I was instantly amazed. I found a gem tonight! "Erdaoqiao Bowamu Small Pot Pilaf" is 60 yuan per person and you'll be full. Must-try: ✅ Pork belly: Super tender, with a meaty aroma. ✅ Stir-fried noodles: Chewy and flavorful, with just the right amount of spiciness. ✅ Lamb skewers: Freshly grilled and served, with a wonderfully fragrant oily aroma. ✅ Apricot and plum tea: A perfect way to relieve greasiness, sweet and sour, refreshing. 3. 🏨 Accommodation: We chose a hotel near the airport, 300 yuan per night, a great value! The city's attractions are all within a 20-minute drive, making it a time-saving and convenient destination. If you need names, please PM me! 🌿 Six hidden gems in Altay City! Here's the order of what to see and eat: 1. Altay Museum This two-story building takes just 20 minutes to explore. It houses numerous grassland stone statues and an exhibition on the history of Altay, perfect for getting a feel for local culture. 2. Altai Mountain Museum of Traditional Chinese Medicine It's smaller than you might expect! The exhibits include Chinese herbal specimens, images, and medicinal products. Those interested in herbal medicine can explore briefly. 3. Jinshan Market This specialty market, easily accessible in 15 minutes, sells dried fruits, dairy products, dried meats, carpets, and leather goods. It's a great place to shop for souvenirs; the prices are quite reasonable. 4. Wubaili Fengqing Street - Travel Bookstore This little gem of a shop on the banks of the Kelan River! More like a childhood boutique than a bookstore, the two floors are filled with stationery. Hidden in a corner is Li Juan's complete collection of works, complete with her signature and a lovely message. Local students often visit, so it's quite crowded, yet still has a lively atmosphere. 5. Tuofeng Mountain Scenic Area Forgo the paid Jiangjun Mountain entrance fee and opt for the free Tuofeng Mountain! Parking is super convenient, and the summit is only 500 meters high, offering panoramic views of Altay City and Jiangjun Mountain across the way. Come in the evening to catch the stunning sunset! 💡Tips 1. Be sure to bring plenty of snacks and water when driving, as the restaurants in the scenic area are not very cost-effective. 2. Altay has a large temperature difference between day and night, so bring a light jacket even in the summer. 3. The city's attractions are all within easy reach, making driving and navigation easy, so there's no need to rush. #Most Asked Places on WeChat Moments #XinjiangTravelGuide #AltaiTravelGuide #CoupleTravel #NicheDiscovery
