The moment I sat down at Hong Ding Yan, I finally understood what it meant to "turn a dinner party into a time-travel drama"—a 3,000-square-meter space held a thousand-year-old story. Under a 12-meter-high pillarless dome, hundreds of lights illuminated legendary figures on a rotating stage, while my hot pot ladle, having just scooped up a spoonful of boiling red oil, offered an unobstructed view of the entire hall, even the flowing sleeves of the actors on the distant stage were clearly visible. As the lights dimmed, hundreds of beams suddenly pierced the darkness, and a figure draped in flowing robes slowly emerged from the rotating stage—it was Lady Hua Rui! She lifted her skirt and softly recited poems from Shu, her voice mingling with the numbing aroma of Sichuan peppercorns from the hot pot, making me feel, for a moment, as if I were standing at a banquet in the Shu palace during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period. The hot pot boiled, and the stage lights changed again. This time, Sima Xiangru and Zhuo Wenjun appeared on the revolving stage. As the melody of "The Phoenix Seeks Its Mate" began, the tripe in the spicy hot pot was already curled at the edges, its crispness infused with the rich flavor of Sichuan cuisine, as if the romance of two thousand years ago had been cooked into this hot and spicy meal. The most wonderful thing was the openness of the 3,000 square meters of space. No matter where you sat, you could clearly see the subtle expressions on stage: the pearl hairpins in Lady Huarui's hair, the simple skirt of Zhuo Wenjun, and the white snake's gauze sleeves fluttering in the lamplight. The hot broth simmered in the pot, the story on stage continued, and the numbing, spicy, fresh, and fragrant flavors of the hot pot collided with the love, hate, and passion of a thousand years ago.
