[Car] Morning: Daoming Village (Bamboo Art Village) Experience the national intangible cultural heritage "Daoming Bamboo Weaving," visit a bamboo art workshop or the Zhuli B&B (with its strikingly designed architecture). Wander in the countryside and experience the ecological environment of the forest parks in western Sichuan. It's a bit artistic, a bit like the western Sichuan version of Aranya. [Star]Tips: Wake up early and depart from Chengdu (approximately a 1.5-hour drive) and navigate directly to "Daoming Bamboo Art Village." If you're interested in bamboo weaving, you can purchase small handicrafts as souvenirs. There are also bamboo pendants like the ones given to foreign leaders. [Car] Noon: Jiezi Ancient Town (Lunch + Tour) See Zhao Lusi's guide. This thousand-year-old town features well-preserved Ming and Qing dynasty architecture. Key attractions include the Ziku Tower, Guangyan Zen Temple, and the ancient theater. [Star] Tips: Daoming Village is about a 30-minute drive from Jiezi Ancient Town. Avoid the midday heat and choose a restaurant within the town for lunch. 🍽Recommended Dining: [One] Shuweizhai Beef Feast: A local favorite! The twice-cooked beef is so fragrant you can finish three bowls of rice, and the freshly braised beef brisket is melt-in-your-mouth delicious! [Two] Sichuan-Chongqing Style Braised Pork Ribs Copper Pot: Ranked number one on several Dianping.com lists, the smoked pork ribs are fragrant, and the bone broth, simmered for 12 hours, is incredibly rich and flavorful! [Three] Tian'e Fresh Oil-Boiled Goose: The town's #1 internet sensation! Expect a line! [Four] Wangxuewang: A local favorite. [Five] Zhang Laozao: A popular snack, the taste is excellent. [Car] Afternoon: Beixi Wetland (Relaxation) Enjoy the pristine wetland scenery, hike or bike (car rentals available), and admire the Minjiang River tributaries and rural landscape. Children play in the water, while adults camp and play mahjong by the river. [Star] Tips: Beixi Wetland is about a 15-minute drive from Jiezi Ancient Town. Find "Chongzhou Beixi Wetland" on your navigation. It's recommended to wear comfortable shoes and bring mosquito repellent. If you don't want to cook dinner on your return trip, you can take a 20-minute detour to Chongzhou City to eat Catholic Church Chicken Slices (a 40-year-old restaurant).
Hey ladies! What's your biggest fear when taking the whole family on a trip? Breaking the bank, of course! I recently discovered four amazing, off-the-beaten-path towns perfect for families! They're accessible by high-speed rail, affordable, and have free or dirt-cheap attractions. And best of all, both the elderly and children can find something fun. And for 200 RMB per person per day, it's truly amazing! It works, so I have to recommend it! 1. Luoyang, Henan 🏯 - Stroll the kids through the ancient capital, and it's ridiculously cheap! Oh my goodness, the heritage of this ancient capital of 13 dynasties is truly incredible! Taking the kids there is like a walking history classroom, and it's incredibly affordable! Last time I took my parents and kids there, they were ecstatic. Luoyi Ancient City (free): When the lights come on at night, it's absolutely stunning! It's like stepping back into ancient times. Rent a Hanfu suit for the kids to take photos (50 RMB), and they'll be all over your Instagram feed. The elderly can sit back and enjoy the scenery while drinking tea—it's so relaxing. Sui and Tang City Ruins Botanical Garden (10 RMB admission): Even if peony season is over, it's a delight to stroll through the lush greenery. The space is spacious, so kids can run around, and there are benches everywhere for elderly people to rest if they get tired. Luoyang Museum (free, book in advance): My kids were mesmerized by the dinosaur fossils and Tang Dynasty tri-glazed pottery! My dad listened attentively to the explanations and kept talking about them after returning. Eat on the cheap? Head to the Shizijie Night Market! Three skewers of grilled gluten for 10 RMB are intoxicatingly fragrant, and a bowl of beef soup with shredded pancakes for 5 RMB is delicious and meaty. The whole family spent 100 RMB to eat until they were leaning against the wall! Affordable and delicious! 2. Ganzhou, Jiangxi 🌿 - Slow Living in Songcheng, where prices are back to where they were ten years ago! > This place is so cheap it makes me want to cry! The pace is slow, making it perfect for relaxing with the elderly. The Hakka culture is strong, and the people are friendly. Ganzhou Ancient City Wall (Free): This Song Dynasty brick wall is the only one of its kind in China! Rent a family bike (20 yuan per hour) and enjoy a relaxing ride along the Ganjiang River, enjoying the breeze. Yugutai Historical and Cultural District (Free): Winding ancient alleys, old bookstores and handcraft shops hide many surprises. Elderly people chat in the sun, children chase butterflies, and time passes peacefully. Tongtianyan (30 yuan admission, half price for seniors): The grotto Buddha statues are spectacular, and the spring flowers are in full bloom. The mountain is not high, so the climb is gentle and easy, making it a pleasant family stroll. Hakka delicacies: The Amy fruit (3 for 10 yuan) is soft, sweet, and the large Three Cup Chicken (20 yuan) was a surprise! The taste is homely and authentic, and the elderly praised it for being delicious. 3. Chongzuo (Pingxiang), Guangxi 🌴 - A secret borderland destination, sparsely populated, and affordable! > If you want to experience something different, Pingxiang is the place to go! The scenery along the China-Vietnam border is even more beautiful than Guilin, and it's even less crowded! Taking your kids to see the border is a truly exciting experience. Friendship Pass (admission 42 yuan, free for seniors): Standing by the border marker, telling your kids about the past and present is incredibly meaningful. The tower tower exudes a sense of timelessness and is a great photo op. Puzhai Border Trade City (free): Browse the small Vietnamese market, try some Vietnamese spring rolls for 10 yuan, and take home a can of Vietnamese coffee for 20 yuan as a souvenir—it's fun and affordable. Nonghuai Waterfall (free): A hidden gem! The water is clear and rarely visited, so kids can just take off their shoes and play in the water, while the elderly can relax and chat in the shade of the nearby trees. It's a refreshing and relaxing experience. Border snacks: A bowl of Vietnamese rice noodle rolls for 5 yuan is refreshing and appetizing. For the brave, try the qutou egg for 15 yuan (we didn't dare, haha). The whole family can enjoy a taste without any pressure. 4. Sichuan · Mianyang 🎋 - Technology + Ancient Town, a delight for the whole family! > Don't just focus on Chengdu! Mianyang, a place with a technological fusion of landscape and ancient towns, is simply amazing! Kids will have a blast, and the elderly will enjoy a relaxing stroll. Mianyang Science and Technology Museum (free, book in advance): Space models and interactive experiments—the kids can't leave! My dad was particularly moved by the "Two Bombs, One Satellite" exhibition. Fu River Scenic Belt (free): Rent a pedalo (30 yuan per hour) and enjoy a leisurely stroll along the river, shaded by trees and a gentle breeze—it's so relaxing! Xinbeichuan Banaqia (free): Qiang ethnic street—busy but not crowded. Listen to a Qiang flute performance and watch the kids learn the sharon dance—the atmosphere is truly wonderful. Homely Sichuan Cuisine: The Mianyang rice noodles for 15 yuan are a must! The broth is delicious and generous. For 25 yuan, a portion of Jiangyou pig intestines is cleanly prepared, cooked to a tender, flavorful texture, and the slightly spicy flavor is a treat for the whole family. Key Points! Why Choose These? High-speed rail access: Families often dread transfers, but these destinations have convenient high-speed rail stations. Lower Cost, Higher Experience: Tickets to attractions are either free or very affordable, and food and accommodation are also affordable—200 yuan per person per day is no exaggeration! Enjoyable for all ages: History, nature, technology, folk customs, food...there's something for everyone! Off-the-beaten-path, Less-crowded, Great Experience: Compared to crowded popular destinations, these are more relaxing and enjoyable vacations. Don't hesitate! Save this post for your next family trip—go on a whim without breaking the bank. #Weekend Getaways #Summer Resorts for June-August
