The mere mention of Shangxiahang makes me want to rush out for a feast? 😋 This time, I really put in the effort to scour the food scene around Shangxiahang and picked out a few must-try gems to share with you! 🎉 First up, let's talk about Ashin Fresh Lao. For 59 yuan, you can eat as much as you want for two! 👏This is a Fuzhou-style "mala tang" (spicy hot pot). The ingredients are so fresh they're dripping with juice, and the bone-based broth is so delicious it's almost eyebrow-dropping. The taro noodles are slightly spicy and chewy, and when mixed with peanut butter and chili sauce, the flavor is simply irresistible! 🌶️ Next up, we're at Dadao Wuzai Beef Shop. For 32 yuan, you can get authentic Fuzhou beef! 🥩 I absolutely love the beef broth base. The blend of herbs and beef is so fragrant! The beef balls were incredibly tender. The xiaolongbao, while seemingly a larger version of something from a breakfast shop, were incredibly flavorful. The peanut butter noodles were incredibly fragrant, but you have to eat them hot to avoid them getting lumpy! 🍜 Erlongbo is another place I've visited twice. I was completely satisfied for just 40 yuan! 🥟The Yuanxiao (Chinese Yuanxiao) are absolutely amazing, a treat for those who love salty foods! The Yuanxiao chicken, paired with the chicken broth, is so delicious you'll want to finish the soup. The taro and lard-flavored rice is a bit strong, but it's a unique treat every now and then. The peanut soup is incredibly flavorful and you can't stop eating! 🥜 And there's Nangang Fish Balls. For just 20 yuan, you can try the special shark balls and eel belly! 🐟The shark balls aren't fishy at all and are incredibly fresh. The eel belly is incredibly chewy and delicious, leaving you with a lasting impression. The soup base is a bit too MSG-heavy, so you have to drink a lot of water afterward, haha! 💧 Of course, drinks are a must. Tangmo Tea is 34 yuan for two, and both Happy and Green Salt are fantastic! 🥤 Happy is a light pistachio-flavored milk tea, delicious and unique. But I prefer Green Salt, a combination of plums, olives, and soda water. It's refreshing and has a natural saltiness, so be careful if you're a salty person! Zheng A Sao's Oyster Pancakes are 14 yuan, fried to order and crispy and delicious! 🦪 The oysters and cabbage are juicy and so good you can't stop eating them. The grilled seaweed pancakes are just so-so; the crust is too hard, so I wouldn't recommend them.
