This is a restaurant opposite the ticket office of Bayinbuluke Scenic Area. The main dish is hand-pulled meat. The mutton is tender and delicious, and just dipping it in a dry sauce is enough. A pound of meat was quickly devoured, and I really wanted to eat more.

Wuerda Cuisine is a restaurant opened by locals in Bayinbuluke. Barbecue and hand-pulled rice are the specialties. The sheep here are particularly good, especially the black-headed sheep. The meat is tender and delicious when made into skewers.

What impressed me most was that the hand-pulled meat was quite fresh and the mushrooms in the wild mushroom soup rice were good. Since there were so many people dining, the service staff really couldn&#39;t keep up, but in a small town like Bayinbuluke, it was already pretty good!

External Transportation

&bull; Self-Driving: From Urumqi, there are two routes: the northern and southern. The northern route (G216 to S303) is 740 kilometers long and passes through wildlife reserves with diverse scenery. The southern route (G30 to G218) is approximately 690 kilometers long and has excellent road conditions, taking an eight-hour drive. From Korla, you can take National Highway G218 directly, a 330-kilometer drive that takes about five hours. The Duku Highway (open to traffic from June to September) is also a classic route, offering breathtaking scenery year-round.

&bull; Public Transportation: Take a train to Hejing County (approximately six hours from Urumqi), then transfer to a shuttle bus to Bayinbuluke Town (5 hours, 58 yuan/person). Alternatively, fly to Korla/Narathi Airport and charter a car to the scenic area (Narathi Airport to the scenic area, approximately 4.5 hours).

&bull; Self-Driving Route: Drive into the scenic area &rarr; Swan Lake parking lot &rarr; Walk/Tour Bus &rarr; Nine Bends and Eighteen Turns &rarr; Explore the grasslands. Self-driving offers more freedom, but be sure to use the scenic area&#39;s official mini-app for real-time navigation. You&#39;ll also need to take a sightseeing bus for 18 yuan to reach Nine Bends and Eighteen Turns.

&bull; Hiking Route: Scenic Area Gate &rarr; Hiking Trail &rarr; Barun Temple &rarr; Swan Lake Wetland &rarr; Return. This route is less crowded, but the weather can be unpredictable and cell phone signal is weak, so be prepared.

Time Guide

&bull; Best Time to Visit: June to September is the best time to visit, when the grasslands are lush and green, wildflowers are in full bloom, and the weather is cool. Baby swans are adorable from June to July, and mid-July to early August offers excellent value, avoiding the peak summer season.

&bull; Scenic Area Opening Hours: Tickets typically open at 8:00 AM, and admission ends at 7:30 PM.

&bull; Best Time to Visit: The Nine Bends and Eighteen Turns are best viewed at sunset. Sunset can be later in the summer, perhaps after 9:00 PM, so it&#39;s recommended to arrive three hours in advance and arrive at the Basilik Observation Deck before 6:00 PM to secure a spot. Swans are most active at Swan Lake in the early morning and evening, making March to May and September to November ideal times for viewing wild swans.

After visiting Bayinbuluke, we walked back to the hotel. On the way, we saw this restaurant grilling mutton skewers, so we stopped to try it.
Location: Next to National Highway G217, Bayinguoleng Township, Hejing County.
It was almost twelve o&#39;clock, and there were still many people eating inside, so we sat outside and waited. The mutton skewers were freshly cut and skewered, and then grilled directly. The guy was skilled, and the thick meat was cooked quickly. It took about ten minutes to cook it all. It was tender. We didn&#39;t ask for pepper, but it was salty. The skewers were fat and lean, and the taste was good. If you need to pack it up, the guy will kick the meat off, and the iron skewers need to be recycled.
