rachelthan125We had dinner on 8/9/2025 to celebrate birthday. I made the reservation two weeks in advance m, which was very convenient since they allow online booking. There are many Portuguese restaurants in Macau, but I chose this one after watching a good review by @PerfectContinuousEat on YouTube. We tried most of the chef’s signature dishes, and overall the food was delicious and flavourful.Service was excellent, all the staff were friendly and helpful, especially our waitress Ms. Ella, who guided us through the menu, shared the history behind the dishes, and gave great recommendations. She even offered to call a taxi for us when we asked where to get one, which was a thoughtful touch. The restaurant itself has a charming, historic atmosphere, interestingly, some scenes from Jackie Chan’s new movie The Shadow Edge were filmed here, which makes dining feel even more special.A lovely experience overall, highly recommended for those looking to enjoy authentic Portuguese cuisine in Macau.

The old house has a strong Portuguese style, and what sells it more is the environment and service. The waiters are very considerate and timely ❤ The food is not bad, but it is too expensive. I feel ripped off by Twelve Ways of Fengwei.
ALBERGUE 1601, which specializes in traditional Portuguese cuisine, is located in Fengtang Alley. This place used to be a nursing home. The buildings in the entire community are very Portuguese and European, and the dining atmosphere is first-class at night. ALBERGUE 1601 has a variety of dishes, which are not expensive. They are both visually enjoyable and Portuguese. Recommended seafood risotto, baked duck rice, potato shreds, egg cod, and spicy grilled chicken. In particular, the grilled octopus uses the thickest part of the octopus tentacles. The way of eating and the taste are different from those of ordinary Japanese cuisine. The octopus in Portuguese cuisine is relatively soft and cooked. After grilling, the outer layer will be slightly burnt, so it is very flavorful and the rich taste is unforgettable. For appetizers, we recommend octopus salad. The dessert platter has 4 desserts from ALBERGUE 1601. The pudding is naturally the most popular. The pudding comes from Portugal, but it has been carried forward in Macau.
ALBERGUE 1601 is a Portuguese restaurant located in the St. Paul's Church in Holland Garden, also known as the Po-Chia House. The restaurant is a two-story old building. In addition to dining on the upper and lower floors, it also has open-air dining areas. The interior design is simple and elegant, with a retro feel. There is also a peculiar big tree at the door, which is very suitable for taking photos and checking in. The octopus salad is recommended as an appetizer, which tastes fresh and refreshing and is very good. The lobster risotto for the main course is also very delicious. The lobster is super large and really authentic. The risotto is very flavorful and worth a try. There are also dishes and desserts such as roasted beef ribs, roasted suckling pig, Portuguese sausage stewed chicken pot, sawdust pudding, port wine egg pudding, port wine stewed pears, etc. You can try them.
The name is very interesting. The building has hundreds of years of history. The facade is not very conspicuous, but there is a different world inside. It is very popular. If you don’t make a reservation, you have to rely on luck to dine in. The whole communication is in English, and the young lady seems to not understand it. The food is mainly Western and Portuguese. The Portuguese chicken, seafood rice, sawdust pudding, and clams cooked in white wine are all good. The portions are sufficient, and the dishes fill the table. The service is relatively comfortable, and it is really a pleasant surprise to dine in.
This restaurant has been recommended as a gourmet food, so there are a lot of people there. The dishes there feel similar to those in Southeast Asia. Most of them are fried and too greasy. The fish are relatively fresh, which is a good thing.
