We were on a tight schedule in Qingdao from Xi'an, so we had to eat as much as possible within a limited timeframe. Hahahaha. What you see is what you get, no filters. Homeland Stomach Brunch: Zhongpin Laofangzi Pot Stickers with Sweet Mochi. It's a chain store. We went to the closest location, and there was a line at lunchtime. Recommendation: Highly recommend the large shrimp pot stickers, which come with a super-large shrimp. The sweet mochi isn't sweet at all, and it's very similar to spicy hot pot. Wandering: After dinner, we visited the Tsingtao Beer Museum. It's recommended to buy tickets in advance; the non-guided tickets were sold out, so we had to buy the guided tour. There's no need to buy guided tickets; you can explore on your own. Once inside, just follow the crowd and don't backtrack. Tickets come with two beers and a bag of beer peanuts. The beer is from the first factory, which has great reviews online, but I personally prefer the beer from the fourth factory. (Wild boars can't handle fine bran... The wine from the Fourth Factory is sweeter, while the wine from the First Factory is richer.) Café: Since we had breakfast at noon and drank wine, we weren't hungry at all, so we skipped breakfast and went straight for coffee. If you have the time and energy, you can explore Badaguan, but we were lazy and went straight to the cafe next to the Third Beach. There are many cafes nearby, and most of them have ocean views. We chose Hard Bean Cafe. The food and the view are both great! Choosing a seat is like leveling up a monster. You can only sit in the back row, and then they'll slowly move you forward if there's a vacant seat in the front. Sea-facing seats are perfect for putting down your phone and just staring at the ocean. First dinner: We went to Kaihai. How could you miss seafood when you're here? The prices are clearly marked, the ingredients are fresh, and the dumplings are made fresh. At chain restaurants like this, there's already a line at 6:00, so I recommend booking in advance online. Recommended dishes: Sea urchin, cuttlefish, and shrimp dumplings, oysters, and three-head abalone. Second dinner: After we had seafood, we had to find a beer house for our second meal. 🍻 A quick search for beer houses reveals two types. The most common ones are those with a "Ulala Recommended Seafood Market" logo. They typically sell spicy crab noodles and seafood in a broth. Many bloggers recommend this type, but I personally feel it's a new-style beer house for tourists like us. I wonder if any locals can confirm my suspicions. 😂 I almost went there because so many recommendations. The other type is a more traditional place with grilled skewers, a few simple stir-fried seafood dishes, and draft beer. Finally, we went to Jianjian Beer House. The simple charcoal-grilled skewers paired with a wheat juice like "Sichang"—I immediately experienced the bliss of Qingdao.
