Enjoy creative drinks in the quiet Chinese courtyard.
I had planned my return train ticket before coming, but when I wanted to buy it, it was sold out, haha! I had to buy it for a later date, and with almost an extra hour of free time, I decided to grab a coffee. I saw this place had good reviews, so I went straight there. There really is a pine tree in the backyard of the shop, which is probably where the name "Songjian" (Pine Grove) comes from. The shop's ambiance is really nice. You can order by scanning a QR code at the table. They have Italian drinks, specialty drinks, tea… basically all kinds of beverages, desserts, and souvenirs—a comprehensive selection. I ordered coffee and mung bean cake, both were quite good. The mung bean cake was really smooth and delicious, although after rolling a whole plate by myself it was still a little sweet, haha, but it went perfectly with the coffee. I left quickly after finishing my coffee, and now I regret not buying a wool-woven coaster, haha. Maybe I'll come back again sometime!
Finally, someone has clearly explained how to enjoy Shaoxing! Map attached (at the end) 3-4 Chai Ting: Went there at 4 PM, closed at 4:30 PM, very crowded. Unfortunately, I didn't see the "Little Kyoto" inside the restaurant. 5 Art Gallery Cafe: Went in the morning, the lighting was bad, difficult to take good photos. Recommended to go in the afternoon. 6-8 Song Jian: Highly recommended, a must-visit. Every corner is beautiful. The owner has great taste, guaranteed to produce great photos! 9 You Jian: Second-floor window view. 10 Lu Xun's Former Residence: A small alleyway along the main road. Occasionally, a small boat glides by. Very beautiful, especially before 5 PM when the sunlight shines through the trees. 11 Yuecheng District: Many walls like this, great for taking photos everywhere. 12-14 Overview: Photo spots in the Former Residence of the Calligrapher. The "Calligraphy Wall" is a popular photo spot in the Former Residence of the Calligrapher. Grandpa's Bookstore: The grandpa wasn't there this weekend, traveling. Dining recommendation: "Thank You". Rich Shrimp, Shrimp and Crab Rice, Drunken Crab (5-star highly recommended) Late Night Snack Recommendation: Fang's Claypot Rice - A childhood memory for Shaoxing locals, very affordable. Must-try: lotus root (a unique cooking method), tender pork tenderloin, and crispy potatoes.
I discovered a stunning Song-style courtyard cafe in Shaoxing! ☕️ The milky rice pudding is amazing! Hey ladies, check out this hidden gem I found in the hometown of the Sage of Calligraphy! The quaint wooden architecture paired with exquisite landscaping makes every corner a photogenic spot! It's always packed with beautiful women on weekday afternoons. It turns out people with good taste have similar tastes. 🍵 Songjian 📍 No. 2, Xieqiao Lane, Sage of Calligraphy's Hometown (use the navigation to "Sage of Calligraphy's Hometown" and walk there) [Must-Order] ✨Milky Rice Pudding: Limited edition daily! The smooth texture is tinged with a subtle rice aroma, while the milky flavor is rich but not cloying. ✨Osmanthus Apple Latte: A truly ingenious combination, you can taste the real apple chunks, and the osmanthus fragrance is truly autumnal. ✨Mung Bean Cake: Perfectly sweet, perfect with tea. [Check-in Experience] - The Song Dynasty-style courtyard is incredibly exquisite, with mottled bamboo shadows, perfect for photo ops. - Recommended to visit on a weekday afternoon, avoiding the weekend rush. - The owner has great taste, and the music and atmosphere are just right. - 35-60 yuan per person, excellent value. While taking photos at the small window in the courtyard corner, the waitress offered to help me light the room. What a thoughtful touch! Before leaving, I even packed rice pudding for my friends, and they all promised to come back as a group next time. #ShaoxingFood #ShaoxingCafé #NicheCheck-inSpot #CourtyardCafé #CalligraphySage'sHometown
🌟Day 1 1️⃣ I headed straight to a cosmetics store near Lu Xun's hometown at 8:30 AM and took photos until around 11:30 AM. It was incredibly crowded (the photo on p2 shows the best photo spot for the security guard). We first visited Baicao Garden. "Xun, your house is so big! I wanted to take a beautiful photo with you." I didn't go to Sanwei Bookstore because the line was so long (now I think I should have queued for Sanwei Bookstore first, then Baicao Garden). 2️⃣ I took a taxi to the hometown of the calligrapher. I waited in line for 45 minutes for the popular Songjian Coffee Shop, so I gave up. I also wanted to go to the Eight-Character Bridge to take a boat, but it was incredibly hot, so I took the boat from the hometown (p4). Each boat only accommodated three people and cost 90 yuan. 🌟Day 2 1️⃣ I went to Lanting. It was really hard to take photos without good equipment, but the place was filled with props and had a lot of charm. In the afternoon, I felt overwhelmed by the heat and hurriedly took a taxi to the high-speed rail station. 😋❗️ Speaking of food 1️⃣ The rice wine milk tea was okay, and the rice wine popsicles were amazing. 2️⃣ The Ciwu noodles were delicious, very chewy. 3️⃣ The Shaoxing three fresh delicacies were absolutely amazing, my favorite (the restaurant chose the treasure hunt, and it was a no-brainer). 4️⃣ The stinky tofu had a thick, sticky sauce, not a topping, which was not to my taste. #ShaoxingTravel #LuXunHometown #ShaoxingFood #ShaoxingTravel #ShushengHometown#
