Nanlou pancakes are really the ones I always want to eat after a long time. I have to save my stomach for them at dinner. It is a sight to see people queuing up in the bustling crowd at 8 p.m. Even though there are many people queuing up, it only takes about ten minutes to get them. The hot and crispy pancakes are brushed with the unique secret sauce, which is really a crunchy and satisfying midnight snack.
Old Tianjin people like to eat vegetarian dumplings, with vegetables, fried cakes, and smoked dried diced as fillings, which are fresh and refreshing. When eating, it is especially delicious with pickled mustard greens that are light gold in color, spicy and extremely fragrant!
Nanshi Food Street is the most famous snack street in Tianjin. Because it looks like an antique building, I prefer to call it Nanshi Food City. Food City is a diversified catering center that combines Chinese and Western styles, with prominent southern and northern flavors, and mainly serves high-end customers. The three floors of the main building adopt national architectural style, with a classical exterior and modern interior. The exterior is decorated with carved beams and painted buildings, and the interior decoration is magnificent. At night, neon lights and floodlights flash, making the night view of Zhongdi Food Street even more charming, so it has become one of the "Ten Scenic Spots of Tianjin".
Nanlou Jianbing (Nanlou Main Store) is located at 109, 4th Gate, Xinyueli, Heping District, Tianjin. It is a well-known pancake shop in Tianjin. The best pancakes are the ones served here. Other dishes include duck neck, mutton soup, and soy milk.
There are two pancake stalls, working on an assembly line, so the pancakes are made very quickly. I ordered one set each of the Guozi and Guoba. I prefer the Guoba ones, which are surprisingly crispy and have a sesame aroma. They are indescribably delicious. It didn't disappoint.
It only opens at night and is open until 6am. We went there at 12am and had to queue up. The taste was pretty good (the driver told me a little trick for eating Jianbing Guozi when we went there: put the Jianbing Guozi upside down before eating. You will know why after you try it)
