Huangyao does not have the sophistication of Wuzhen, nor does it have the literary heritage of Fenghuang. Wandering in the ancient town, you will be surrounded by green waters, towering ancient banyan trees, smooth stone roads, mottled walls, ancient wells that have remained the same for hundreds of years, and old people who have lived here for generations... You can always see the marks left by time and feel the gentleness of the peaceful years.
The environment is not bad, but the service is very bad. One waiter gave me a cold look after I urged him several times. The dishes were super slow and I missed the order. The taste was really not good, and there were many things on the menu that were not available. Anyway, if you want to eat good food, don't go there. If you want a good environment, it's barely okay.
The food is good inside the hotel. When I went there, there was a typhoon and it was raining heavily, so I went to Huangyao and the food was delicious.
Huangyao is famous for its fermented black beans, which are also used in dishes. You can try the local fermented black bean ribs, as well as the sour bamboo shoots. You can try stuffed tofu, bamboo shoots and other snacks.
