The Barossa Reservoir in South Australia is an important catchment area that provides irrigation and drinking water to the Barossa region. The surrounding environment of the reservoir is quiet and beautiful, and it is a good place for locals to go out and have a picnic. However, the difference between Barossa Reservoir and other reservoirs with beautiful scenery is that there is a strange "echo wall" beside it. If you speak in a low voice at this end of the Whispering Wall, people standing on the other end of the 140-meter outer wall will hear what you are saying clearly, which is similar to the Whispering Wall at the Temple of Heaven in Beijing. This magical echo wall is the retaining wall of the Barossa Reservoir. It was built in the early 20th century and was once Australia's tallest reservoir holding wall. This wonderful acoustic phenomenon is based on the continuous reflection of sound waves by the smooth arched walls.Williamstown · 16.8 km from Barossa

The style of South Australia is partly explained through red wine. At this time, it is impossible not to mention Barossa. South Australia is a big wine exporting province, and Barossa alone accounts for half of the wine exports. When I visited the Barossa in person, I realized what the "Red Wine Kingdom" is. Here, no matter how much you know about red wine, you can appreciate the charm of red wine. If you happen to have researched on red wine, then in Barossa, you will definitely be as excited as finding a soulmate. The Barossa has been making great wines for generations. The picturesque Barossa, just over an hour's drive from Adelaide, has been settled here since 1842, so it still retains a charming European style. Take a walk on the road that stretches from Kapunda in the north to Mt Pleasant in the south and learn about the Barossa's colourful history. The road passes through many villages in the Barossa, showcasing museums, pioneer buildings and some old Australian vineyards. Explore Tanunda's museum in the town's original 1865 post office. Here, church furniture, pottery and other artifacts will make you imagine the life of early German settlers. Art remains an important part of the Barossa tradition, with galleries, studios, craft stores and antique shops everywhere. For local artists, vineyards, cafés and restaurants often become their galleries as well. If you have plenty of time, you may wish to visit the Lindao Lavender Farm. During the lavender season (August-January), more than 90 species of lavender bloom collectively on the farm, with a fragrant aroma and a dreamlike beauty.Flaxman Valley · 4.3 km from downtown

Seppeltsfield Wines

Seppeltsfield Wines

Seppeltsfield Wines is one of the most historic and iconic wineries in the Barossa. In 1851, Prussian (now Poland) immigrant Joseph Ernst Seppelt founded Seppeltsfield Wines. In 1878, his eldest son, Oscar Benno Pedro Seppelt, inherited the management of the winery at just 21 years old. From that year on, in addition to producing its famous Shiraz and various other wines, Seppeltsfield Wines began crafting a sweet Port each year that could be aged for over a century. Each year's vintage is only released for sale once it reaches 100 years of age, which is the origin of the famous Seppeltsfield Centennial Collection. In other words, since the first bottle of Centennial Collection Port was released in 1978, collectors have been able to purchase a 100-year-old Seppeltsfield Port every year. For example, in 2019, Seppeltsfield Wines released the 1919 vintage Port, and so on. Today, guests visiting Seppeltsfield Wines not only have the opportunity to purchase the Centennial Collection Port, but also the chance to taste a Port from their birth year. As long as you were born after 1878, you can find a Port crafted in your birth year in the Seppeltsfield Port cellar. A professional cellar hand will draw a glass of Port for you that is as old as you are. The winery has also partnered with the non-profit cultural organization JamFactory, opening a new chapter in Barossa art tourism. JamFactory renovated one of the stable buildings at Seppeltsfield Wines, turning it into studios for professional artisans and designers, where you can watch the creation process and enjoy a hands-on experience. There is also a contemporary gallery and art shop offering souvenirs such as handmade ceramics, furniture, glassware, and jewelry from Australian artists and designers.Seppeltsfield · 1.2 km from downtown

This winery has a long history, and the wine cellar here is also very huge. There are thousands of oak barrels in it, which are filled with wine brewed in the past year. As soon as you enter the wine cellar, you can smell the strong aroma of wine, which is really intoxicating.

It was pretty good, but it was a pity that we went there a little late, and there were only grape branches on the grape racks. You can drink a lot of wine for free, all kinds of wine, some of which are very delicious (even those who can't drink think they are delicious). We also went to the town of Hahndorf, which is very beautiful. The lunch was very good, a very formal Western meal, a place that the Queen of England has visited, very good...

In January, the sun in South Australia was scorching, and the lavender had dried up long ago. When we went there, we couldn't see anything. The temperature outside was 45 degrees, so we hurriedly checked in and had some lavender ice cream before leaving.
