Taiyuan Botanical Garden, nestled at the foot of Mount Tai, is adorned with three dewdrops falling on the shore of Haowen Lake: one representing the rainforest, one the desert, and one a sea of flowers. By day, it's a verdant wonderland; by night, a galaxy has fallen.
Around 7 PM, the 64-meter-high Time Elevator illuminates with starlight, and the Milky Way seems to flow down the slope into the lake—Taiyuan's most sci-fi-like night.
Springtime brings cherry blossoms, plum trees, and peonies; summer offers respite from the heat in the greenhouses; autumn offers strolls among ginkgo and pine trees; winter paints the snow-covered dome of the sky—this place doesn't necessarily need a reason; it's simply one of the few places in the city where you can slow down.
