Private group 1-day tour
Your professional driver will pick you up at your hotel in downtown Shanghai at 9:00 am sharp, then you'll embark on a comfortable journey through the past and present of Jiangnan in a private vehicle.
Arriving at the first stop, [Hanshan Temple], renowned worldwide for the Tang Dynasty poet Zhang Ji's poem "Mooring by Maple Bridge at Night." You will listen to the clear sound of the ancient bell, stroll through the thousand-year-old temple, and experience the tranquility and poetry of "the midnight bell reaching the guest boat." Inside, the yellow walls and black tiles, winding paths leading to secluded spots, harmoniously blend Jiangnan garden aesthetics with Buddhist culture.
Then visit the Humble Administrator's Garden, one of China's four great gardens, a Ming Dynasty masterpiece representing the pinnacle of Jiangnan garden art. You will wander among pavilions, waterside terraces, rockeries and winding corridors, experiencing the essence of "scenery at every step" garden design. With its expansive water surfaces and faint lotus fragrance, it feels like stepping into a long scroll of freehand landscape painting.
After lunch, take a stroll along Pingjiang Road, a thousand-year-old historic street winding along the Pingjiang River. The cobblestone paths, small bridges over flowing water, and white walls with black tiles recreate the scenery of a Jiangnan water town. You can leisurely sit in a teahouse to enjoy tea or explore handicraft shops, experiencing the laid-back atmosphere of Suzhou where "every household lives by the water."
The finale of the itinerary is the "No. 1 water town of China" — Zhouzhuang. The twin bridges' reflections, the grand mansions of Shen Hall and Zhang Hall, the winding water alleys, and the creaking sounds of paddle boats together paint a picture of a water town at dusk. We recommend staying until the lights come on to experience Zhouzhuang's tranquil and misty beauty, so different from its daytime charm.
After the tour ends, the private car will take you back to your hotel in downtown Shanghai. The estimated arrival time in downtown Shanghai is between 19:30 and 21:00 in the evening, concluding this fulfilling yet unhurried private Jiangnan journey. (The exact arrival time in downtown Shanghai is subject to actual conditions on the day.)
