The predecessor of the Duolun Lake Scenic Area was the Xishanwan Reservoir. It is one of the largest water projects on the Xilin Gol steppe. The beautiful Duolun Lake lies within the borders of Duolun county in Xilin Gol league. It is as if it is a jade tile amongst the hills and the steppe. The hills, lake, and steppe contrast pleasingly with one another. The changes of the four seasons are distinct within the Duolun Lake Scenic Area. In the summer it is warm and rainy, and in the autumn it is pleasantly cool. The natural landscape is both rich and colorful, and it is a wonderful place to enjoy leisure holidays and to spend the summer away.Duolun · 18 km from downtown

The Shanxi Association in Duolun was collectively funded by Shanxi merchants in 1745 during the Qing Dynasty. Originally named Fumo Palace and also known as Guan Di Temple, it served as a gathering place for Shanxi merchants in the Duolun area for meetings, entertainment, and discussions. At the time, it was the only provincial guild hall in Inner Mongolia, earning it the nickname "Frontier Trading Port." The complex features over 100 rooms, with key structures including the grand entrance gate, opera stage, guest quarters, secondary gate, triple passage hall, east-west corridors, side rooms, and main hall. In May 2006, it was designated as a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit by the State Council.Duolun · 2.7 km from downtown

The Huizong Temple was built in the 30th year of Emperor Kangxi (1691 AD). Under the instigation of Tsarist Russia, Kaerdan, the leader of the Junggar Department of Moxierut, boldly attacked Monan. In 1690, Emperor Kangxi defeated Galdan. In the following year, Kangxi went to Duolunuoer to meet with the three tribes of Khalkha in Mobei and Taiji, the Mongolian prince of the 48th Banner in Monan, known as the "Duolunhui League" in history. Kangxi agreed to the request of "wish to build a temple to honor the grand ceremony" and began to build the "Huizong Temple".Duolun · 438m from downtown

Badaling Great Wall

The Badaling Great Wall is renowned as one of the Nine Strategic Passes under heaven, combining majestic cliffs with picturesque greenery to form the most spectacular section of the Ming Dynasty fortifications. Living up to the Chinese saying "He who has never been to the Great Wall is not a true hero," this remains the premier choice for most Chinese visitors to experience the Wall. The fortress gate exhibits a trapezoidal shape, narrower on the east and wider on the west, featuring two gate towers. The eastern arch bears the inscription "Juyong Waizhen" (Frontier Town of Juyong), while the western gate displays "Beimen Suoyue" (Key to the Northern Gate). North of the fortress stretches the 12-tower Northern Wall section, while to the south lies the less crowded Southern Wall with 7 watchtowers. If time permits, we recommend exploring the Southern Wall first before tackling the more popular Northern section. ▲Walk Through Six Centuries of Golden History: A Visual Feast of Vermilion Foliage Blanketing the Great Wall ▲ As night descends, the Badaling Great Wall transforms into a gilded dragon winding through shadowed peaks, its illuminated battlements whispering tales of millennia - where imperial splendor meets enduring mystery beneath constellations of golden light. ▲Cloaked in winter's crystalline mantle, the Badaling Great Wall becomes a silver serpent coiled between snow-draped peaks, its ancient stones gilded by dawn's golden raysChina · Beijing

The Forbidden City, also known as the Imperial Palace, was the imperial palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties, and is also the symbol of ancient China. When you are in the majestic and orderly high walls and deep courtyards, you can truly feel its former glory. ▲The long history has left behind large-scale precious buildings and countless cultural relics, which have also become the main attraction of visiting the Forbidden City today. ▲Classic attractions: The Forbidden City Corner Tower is a polygonal building with a convex plane on all four sides. It is located in Dongcheng District, Beijing. The roof has three layers. The upper layer is a hip roof with vertical and horizontal intersections. It is composed of a gable roof with flowing water on two slopes and a hip roof with four slopes. Because there are nine main ridges on this roof, it is called the Nine-ridge Hall. ▲Sundials are divided into two types according to their installation principle: equatorial and horizontal. The sundial installed using the equatorial principle is called an equatorial sundial. The key points of its production are that it must have a time plate, a latitude arc and a gnomon. When operating, the time plate must be parallel to the equatorial plane of the earth, the gnomon must be in the same direction as the earth's axis, and the shadow cast by the gnomon on the gnomon is the desired time. ▲The Treasure House is located in the Ningshou Palace area. It has a rich collection of treasures, including Buddhist supplies, ornaments, daily utensils, and treasures for appreciation. Among them, the red coral lion about 14 cm high, the Dongzhu court beads about 130 cm long, and the gold "Fengtianzhibao" seal are all rare treasures. ▲The Clock and Watch Museum is located in the Fengxian Hall in the palace. Most of the clocks on display are British products, but there are also clocks from other countries such as France and Switzerland. In addition to the timing function, these clocks are decorated with figures, birds, beasts, flowers, etc., which can also make various different movements. They are very delicately made. Among them, the copper-plated gilded writing clock, the copper-plated gilded enamel gourd-top fishing and woodcutting farming clock, and the copper-plated gilded rotating flower running man rhinoceros carrying clock are very rare.China · Beijing

The autumn colors are absolutely beautiful and pristine. Strolling around slowly with the autumn breeze in the air is incredibly pleasant. The only downside is that some roads are under construction, preventing you from circling the lake and forcing you to backtrack. However, given the stunning scenery, it's still highly recommended.

The building of this very small scenic spot has basically maintained its original appearance. Those who like ancient buildings and study Duolun's history and culture can arrange to visit it. The guild hall is located in a residential area, surrounded by an expanded commercial district, but many stores are closed. It can be visited in half an hour, so it is not recommended to go there.

Five-star review! Thank you, Director Li, for your dedication, patience, and thorough explanations. We were originally scheduled to board at 8:00 AM from Lao She Teahouse near Qianmen, but considering it was too early, the subway transfer would be necessary, and the walking would take time, I considered getting a refund. Director Li learned that I was taking Metro Line 8 from Muxiyuan and directed me to the Beitucheng station, allowing us to meet at 8:50 AM. Following Director Li's directions, I boarded the bus at Beitucheng. Today's Great Wall visit went very smoothly and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you, Director Li!

The scholar said that Director Li took me to visit the National Museum of China and the Forbidden City. Thank you, Director Li, for your vivid, interesting, witty and humorous explanations. You made the historical stories that I originally thought were boring feel like I was there, immersed in the stories, and felt like I was a part of that era. It was a wonderful experience. Time flew by, and Director Li was still eager to tell more stories. Thank you, Director Li!
