Reviews: Baku: Gobustan, Mud Volcanoes, Fire Mountain & Temple Tour

The tour allows you to see all the places that are difficult to reach on your own. The bus was comfortable, and the group size was good—17 people packed up quickly and moved from place to place without any hassle. The mud volcanoes aren't particularly impressive, but you can reach them off-road in a Niva, which is in danger of falling apart. The most interesting spots are Gobustan (an open-air museum) and the Fire Temple in Absheron. Be prepared to pay extra for the tickets and the Niva ride (we paid 65 manat per person for all the extras) plus lunch. Bring water and a small snack, as lunch isn't until 2:00 PM. The tour was offered in three languages: English, Spanish, and Turkish. They said there were Russian-speaking groups, but we didn't find that option. Overall, it was a great experience for a very reasonable price.

Ateshgah was particularly interesting, and our guide’s explanations helped us appreciate its history and significance. Gobustan was equally memorable in a completely different way. The itinerary came together beautifully, with interesting places, friendly service, and plenty to enjoy throughout the day. We were very pleased with our choice.

Reviews: Baku: Gobustan, Mud Volcanoes & Absheron Tour All Inclusive

First of all, this is a really good deal, as we opted for the package that didn't include entrance fees and meals (it came to about 90 RMB per person; lunch was at the restaurant and not too expensive, and they had a delicious Fiji fruit drink in the freezer). It's difficult to get a taxi in many places if you go on your own, but this package included a Mercedes minibus for transportation, which was very comfortable and didn't cause any motion sickness. Our guide, RAZA, speaks Russian and English, and was very friendly and enthusiastic. His explanations were fluent and comprehensive; highly recommended. We met at 8:30 am and departed at 9:00 am. I strongly suggest you eat breakfast! Also, bring some snacks with you to replenish your energy.
