Hauptplatzis located in the heart of the old town. It was established as a central market in the mid-12th century and has been the city's commercial and gathering hub for centuries, with the market tradition continuing to this day. The square is surrounded by colorful old houses, with facade styles ranging from the late Middle Ages to the Baroque and Historicist periods. After a comprehensive renovation in 2002, it has become a gathering place for locals and a hub for tourists exploring the old town, and trams still pass by one side of the square today. In the center of the square stands the Archduke Johann Fountain, completed in 1878. At the top of the monument is a bronze statue of Archduke Johann, surrounded by four female statues symbolizing the Mur, Enns, Drava, and Sann rivers, forming the visual center of the square. After nightfall, warm lights illuminate the colorful facades around the square, making it, along with the surrounding alleys, a popular spot for locals to gather in the evening.Graz · 93m from downtown

The main attractions of Castle Hill are the Big Clock Tower, the ruins of the bunker, the Castle Hill Museum, the Cassemart Stage, the Fort, and the Starbast Prison. The tower was built in the 13th century. Castle Hill is 437 meters high and can be reached by cable car or on foot. The Castle Hill rising from the old town and the big bell standing on it have become the symbol of Graz. There are three main ways to visit the mountain: if you want to be more relaxed, you can choose to take a 2-minute cable car to the top of the mountain. It is a transparent elevator that takes you directly to the mountain in half a minute. Then, you can also follow the stone stairs built on the mountain wall ——Chris Trail, and go up the mountain after 260 steps. It is recommended to take the ropeway or elevator up the mountain, and then walk down the stone steps. There are also three options for going down the mountain: take the elevator down the mountain; walk from the Chris Trail to the mountainside platform; or choose a romantic and quiet mountain path to Carmelite Square, then proceed to the direction of Spect Street until the exit of Hairen Street .Graz · 626m from downtown

The Armory is known as the largest museum of weaponry history in the world. The armory has five floors. There are statues of the god of war and the god of war art standing at the entrance. The exhibits include armor, swords, guns and other more than 32,000 weapons used in past wars. The wooden structure of the museum, the wooden ceilings, floors and walls absorb a lot of moisture, allowing these ancient weapons to retain their original appearance. Due to its location at the forefront of Europe, Graz has always been a battleground for military strategists. At the end of the 15th century, Graz faced the great threat of the Turkish Empire, and began to gradually organize the construction and storage of various weapons. In 1642, Antonisola established an arsenal to provide weapon support for the growing military needs at that time, and later gradually developed into its current size. The exhibits here are based on quantity. There are thousands of armors alone, and there are hundreds of identical weapons.Graz · 104m from downtown

The cathedral near the mausoleum of Ferdinand II, built between 1438 and 1464 by order of Frederick III, is one of the finer buildings in Graz. The cathedral is a typical Gothic building. The precious cultural relics in the church are the reliquary boxes placed on both sides of the altar. The outside of the box is inlaid with verses carved with ivory. This box originally belonged to Princess Paul Gonzalo, who married the Leohard family in Brook Castle (near Linz) in eastern Tyrol, Austria in 1477. of the Catholic Church, and later this box was used to preserve the ashes and holy bones of believers who devoted themselves to the doctrine. History of the Cathedral: The Cathedral became important during the residence of Archduke Charles II in Graz, who also called in the Jesuits to balance the expansion of Protestantism. In the two hundred years since then, the emperor of the cathedral has been controlled by the Jesuits, and most of the important interior decorations were completed during this period. In the early 18th century, the interior of the cathedral was almost completely renovated into Baroque style, except for its own architectural structure. After Pope Clement XIV disbanded the Jesuit Society in 1773, the original parish church and the Jesuit church in the cathedral finally evolved into the cathedral today.Graz · 251m from downtown

For hundreds of years, the bell has been rung three times a day (7:00, 12:00 and 19:00), 101 times each time, reminding people that it was made from 101 cannonballs. The clock tower was built in the 13th century. Its predecessor was a watch tower. It was rebuilt in 1588 to form its current appearance. At that time, its task was to warn and tell the time. Near Graz lies a magnificent and exquisite castle, Eggenberg Castle (a magnificent Renaissance-style structure), built in 1623 by an Italian architect. The palace's design was inspired by Renaissance understanding of astronomy, geography, and the universe. Both the ceiling and walls are painted with depictions of zodiac animals and the planetary system. The palace's four towers symbolize the four directions of east, west, north, and south. The palace's 365 windows represent the days of the year, and the 24 halls symbolize the 24 hours of the day. The surrealist building in the center of Graz is in sharp contrast with the surrounding castles and clock towers. It is called "giant beast with gills", "giant bladder", "caterpillar" and so on. The Graz Museum of Modern Art is the embodiment and interpretation of Peter Cook's concept of "bio-existent architecture". The Modern Art Museum on the Moor River is the work of the British architect Peter Cook, which is made of blue plastic glass collage. Construction of the art gallery started in 2000 with an investment of about £23 million, and it was completed and opened in 2003. The whole art is divided into five parts: the protruding part in the middle is called "Belly" (stomach); the roof looks like a heart blood vessel called "Nozzles" (orifice); the pillars on the roof are the leisure bar Sushi- The Bar is "Needle" (needle); the ground support part is called "Pin" (pin); then there is the entrance, the ticket office, only this part was renovated from the old building in 1842, and it is still You can see the exquisite cast steel carvings at that time, and there are also bookstores and gift sales departments. The ground floor exhibition hall of the art museum has three floors. The main exhibition space is on the roof floor. The entire hall is designed without columns. The natural light required by the hall is provided by 15 Nozzles pipes protruding from the roof. There is a moving ramp in the hall, and visitors can be slowly sucked into the exhibition hall of the "belly" and "stomach" part, creating a theater effect engulfed by art, which is very novel and unique.Graz · 417m from downtown

The Town Hall is a Renaissance building in the mid-16th century, located in the central square of the old town. The chain corridors give people a sense of solemnity and grandeur. There is a very unique circular marble fountain in one corner of the courtyard. It is surrounded by five beautiful bronze pillars. The shapes together support an intricately sculpted bronze pavilion. The history of the town hall is almost the history of Graz's evolution to become the second largest city in Austria. In 1550, the then city government of Graz moved into the old town; in 1803 it was replaced by a larger retro-style building; in the late 19th century, as the city grew in size and population, Graz redesigned and established the municipality hall. The front wall of the City Hall was originally inlaid with sculptures and murals, but was later transferred to the entrance of the hall. These sculptures are vivid and exquisite with Austrian myths and legends, art, crafts, technology, business and other characters and activities as the main content. The ceilings, galleries, clocks and even the hanging lamps on the walls in the town hall are all preserved from the 19th century.Graz · 74m from downtown

Graz Main Square is located in the heart of Graz's Old Town, Austria's second-largest city, and is the city's most vibrant and historically rich public space. It's not only the perfect starting point for tourists' walking tours but also the center for experiencing Graz's traditional lifestyle.

Graz's Palace Hill can be reached by taking an elevator or climbing. Climbing up, you can get a panoramic view of Graz. The scenery on the mountain is also beautiful, especially the ancient clock. There is even a Hangzhou Pavilion on the top of the mountain, which is very intimate. Walking through the green woods, looking at the scenery and feeling the mountain breeze is very interesting. The Palace Hill was originally an air defense facility, and now there are rails inside, as well as a slide for play facilities, which can slide from the top to the bottom of the mountain.

Schloss Eggenberg is a magnificent Baroque palace and one of the most impressive landmarks in Graz, Austria. The palace's elegant architecture, beautifully preserved state rooms, and stunning gardens create a truly memorable experience. I was fascinated by the intricate ceiling paintings and the unique symbolism woven into the building’s design. Walking through the peaceful grounds, often shared with roaming peacocks, added to the charm of the visit. As part of the UNESCO World Heritage site of Graz, Schloss Eggenberg offers a perfect blend of history, art, and nature. It is a must-visit destination for culture and architecture enthusiasts.
