Goryokaku Park

4.7/5
303 reviews
Goryokaku Park is located within Goryokaku. Goryokaku is a star-shaped fortress castle built in the Edo period. It was built in Western architecture. This castle that has witnessed history now only has the outer outline of the city wall, and the interior has been converted into a city park. That is Goryokaku Park. Cherry Blossom Viewing Resort Park is a famous cherry blossom viewing spot in Hokkaido, with cherry trees planted all over it. Every time the cherry blossoms bloom, it looks like a huge five-pointed star-shaped pink flower, which is very beautiful. There is now a Hakodate School in the Hakodate Fusho Park, which collects weapons used in the war, blood-stained samurai uniforms, and restored models of many buildings. Overlooking the Five-pointed Star In addition, there is also a Goryokaku Tower outside the park. Climbing the tower can overlook the whole picture of Goryokaku Park. The shape of the five-pointed star is clearly visible, and the streetscape of Hakodate can be seen from afar. Dream of the Five-Edged Star Every winter, a night-lighting event called "Dream of the Five-Edged Star" is held here. The frozen moat is covered with white snow, and the star-shaped pattern in the park is clearer and more beautiful. The walk is very romantic.Hakodate · 3.9 km from downtown

Kanemori Red Brick Warehouse sits on the shore of Hakodate Bay. This complex of warehouse buildings dates back to the era of open-port trade, with its heavy red brick exterior walls lined up along the bay. Today, it is a representative landmark of the Hakodate Bay area, with its historic appearance well preserved. The warehouse complex consists of four facilities: Hakodate History Plaza, Kanemori Red Brick Warehouse - Youbutsukan, BAY Hakodate, and Kanemori Hall. The interiors have been renovated into shopping, dining, and cultural spaces: Hakodate History Plaza retains its high, open red brick space and features a beer hall; Kanemori Red Brick Warehouse - Youbutsukan brings together shops selling general goods, glassware, handmade leather bags, and Western-style confectionery; BAY Hakodate offers attractions such as a small chapel, a music box shop, and a glass workshop. The bayfront promenade in front of the warehouses offers expansive views. The red brick facades paired with the distant view of Mount Hakodate make it a distinctive photo spot in this area, and it can also be easily combined with an itinerary covering Motomachi and Hachiman-Zaka Slope.Hakodate · 1.1 km from downtown

Hot Springs in Hakodate

4.8
At the southern tip of Hokkaido, the hot springs of Hakodate contain the deep affection of the sea and the gift of volcanoes. When the salty sea breeze brushes across your cheeks, your body sinks into the warm misty spring water. At this moment, the cold and warm symphony between the mountains and the sea quietly plays. The spring water gushes out from the depths of the earth, carrying ancient memories and the mineral essence of the deep sea. As your skin soaks in it, your tense nerves recede like a tide, leaving only the warm current gently lingering in your blood. Outside the spring pool, the outline of Hakodate Bay looms in the dusk or dawn, the sea and the sky are one color, and the lights gradually light up like stars, outlining the quiet curve of the harbor. Whether you look up at the clear starry sky in winter or watch the spring cherry blossoms touch the water, the fatigue of your body and mind is silently dissolved by the warm spring flow. As the water vapor rises, you can see the picture of the city lights and the deep blue harbor intertwined in the distance, as if you are in the gentle boundary between reality and dreams. The springs of Hakodate are not only a warm current that heals the body and mind, but also a harbor for the soul to rest. In the embrace of the hot spring, you can feel the pulse of the deep earth and the breath of the vast ocean, and find a secluded tranquility at the intersection of the mountains and the sea. The warmth here is enough to melt the dust of the journey and become a warm coordinate between heaven and earth that shines forever in the depths of memory.Japan · Hakodate

Yunokawa Onsen is located in the eastern part of Hakodate City. It can be directly reached by the municipal tram, and it only takes about 5 minutes by car from Hakodate Airport. Yunokawa Onsen has an open-air bath with beautiful scenery near the seaside, and you can also overlook the little fishing fires of the squid fishing boats in the sea, and the scenery is charming. Due to its close proximity to Hakodate Port, seafood is abundant, hot springs, and hairy crabs are the characteristics of northern hot springs. Even in Hokkaido, where there are many hot springs, Yunokawa Onsen is very popular. Because it is adjacent to the sea, you can enjoy the sea view while soaking in the hot spring. From summer to autumn, fishing boats go out to sea to catch Hakodate's specialty squid. There are many hotels and inns with different tastes in the hot spring town of Yunokawa. Visitors can enjoy attentive service, comfortable hot springs and delicious food here. Watching Japanese Macaques Bathing in Hot Springs There are about 100 Japanese macaques in the Hakodate Tropical Botanical Garden in Yunogawa Hot Springs. It is refreshing to see the macaques leisurely soaking in the hot springs in the cold season. Every year from December 1 to early May, people fill the pool with hot springs, and the macaques jump into the pool to warm up. The appearance of macaques like ordinary people soaking in hot springs is unusual and novel, and it is a well-known sight in Hakodate.Hakodate · 5.1 km from downtown

Hakodate Morning Market is located not far from the west exit of JR Hakodate Station. It is one of the very lively markets in Hokkaido, and it is also a large seafood market with local characteristics. There are hundreds of shops of various sizes. The shops with a strong market style are open from early morning to noon, and they are very lively. There are bustling people and businessmen everywhere. The narrow aisles are crowded with lorries and shoppers, with a strong sense of the market. The shop owners in the market are very enthusiastic and often invite tourists to try crab legs and so on. Enjoy fresh seafood dishes. In addition to buying fresh seafood such as squid, king crab, sea urchin, salmon, etc., you can also go to the seafood restaurant to feast on freshly baked seafood dishes. Crabs, squid, etc. are highly recommended. In addition, friends who love sea urchins should not miss the raw sea urchins in North Korea. Cut the sea urchin in half and add mustard and soy sauce to eat it raw, very delicious! In addition, you can also find high-quality and cheap kelp, scallops and other specialties here, which are very good to take home for cooking or as souvenirs.Hakodate · 490m from downtown

Definitely choose this over the rope way. Half the price and much better view and ambience. Went around 2pm and the crowds were small. There's two levels of 360 degree viewing area and some historical things to learn.

Kanamori Red Brick Warehouse is the best shopping place in Hakodate, and it has a very literary and youthful atmosphere. Beautiful views of the canal and its old red brick architectural features. The lighting at night makes for a great photo spot. There are as many as 100 shops, restaurants, etc. inside, which is very easy to browse.

Take the tram slowly to Yunokawa Onsen Station and check into the Kaiyo-tei Hotel in Heiseikan. Tomorrow we'll be leaving Hakodate; it's just a 10-minute bus ride from the hotel entrance to the airport. Yunokawa Onsen boasts a 400-year history, and legend has it that it's been a place where villagers and travelers have traditionally sought healing and relaxation. During the late Edo period, former Shogunate soldiers like Enomoto Takeaki and Shikata Toshizo came to the hot springs to bathe and heal their wounds during the Battle of Hakodate. Kaiyo-tei is a very large restaurant with both red and clear hot springs, both saline springs. It's very comfortable, and the salt content has a slight antibacterial effect. Dinner will be at Shiosō-tei across the street, a buffet; both the window views and the food are beautiful.

The Hakodate Tropical Botanical Garden is located in Yunokawa, a famous hot spring resort. Tropical plants are quite rare in Hokkaido, after all, it is in the north. But if you are a tourist, going to the north to see tropical plants is a matter of whether you have time or not. After all, you can go to Xishuangbanna, Thailand, and Singapore. For non-local tourists, the biggest feature of this botanical garden is that it raises Japanese macaques that take a hot spring bath. Those who have not seen it can come and see it. Of course, this monkey project is also artificial. If you want to see it naturally, you have to go to Noboribetsu Jigokudani.

Highly recommend everyone to visit Mount Hakodate Million Night View🤍 It's one of the world's top three night views 🌃 It's really beautiful! You can take mains or bus to Foothill Station Then walk up and take the cable car up to the top of the hill The cable car only runs every 10 minutes If you are in a hurry, you have to watch the screen have written what time the next class is Cable car ride guide! Remember to sit on the right side on the way out 👉🏻 sit on the left side on the return trip 👈🏻 Then you will definitely get a beautiful view ✌🏻 You need to buy an entrance ticket to reach the summit If you have IC electronic payment method recommend you to use the self-service machine! There are many fewer people queuing up than buying tickets manually! Also remind everyone to leave a ticket Because entering and exiting the gate requires scanning the QR code again It will be very troublesome if you lose it!
