The Forbidden City, also known as the Imperial Palace, was the imperial palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties, and is also the symbol of ancient China. When you are in the majestic and orderly high walls and deep courtyards, you can truly feel its former glory. ▲The long history has left behind large-scale precious buildings and countless cultural relics, which have also become the main attraction of visiting the Forbidden City today. ▲Classic attractions: The Forbidden City Corner Tower is a polygonal building with a convex plane on all four sides. It is located in Dongcheng District, Beijing. The roof has three layers. The upper layer is a hip roof with vertical and horizontal intersections. It is composed of a gable roof with flowing water on two slopes and a hip roof with four slopes. Because there are nine main ridges on this roof, it is called the Nine-ridge Hall. ▲Sundials are divided into two types according to their installation principle: equatorial and horizontal. The sundial installed using the equatorial principle is called an equatorial sundial. The key points of its production are that it must have a time plate, a latitude arc and a gnomon. When operating, the time plate must be parallel to the equatorial plane of the earth, the gnomon must be in the same direction as the earth's axis, and the shadow cast by the gnomon on the gnomon is the desired time. ▲The Treasure House is located in the Ningshou Palace area. It has a rich collection of treasures, including Buddhist supplies, ornaments, daily utensils, and treasures for appreciation. Among them, the red coral lion about 14 cm high, the Dongzhu court beads about 130 cm long, and the gold "Fengtianzhibao" seal are all rare treasures. ▲The Clock and Watch Museum is located in the Fengxian Hall in the palace. Most of the clocks on display are British products, but there are also clocks from other countries such as France and Switzerland. In addition to the timing function, these clocks are decorated with figures, birds, beasts, flowers, etc., which can also make various different movements. They are very delicately made. Among them, the copper-plated gilded writing clock, the copper-plated gilded enamel gourd-top fishing and woodcutting farming clock, and the copper-plated gilded rotating flower running man rhinoceros carrying clock are very rare.China · Beijing

The Badaling Great Wall is renowned as one of the Nine Strategic Passes under heaven, combining majestic cliffs with picturesque greenery to form the most spectacular section of the Ming Dynasty fortifications. Living up to the Chinese saying "He who has never been to the Great Wall is not a true hero," this remains the premier choice for most Chinese visitors to experience the Wall. The fortress gate exhibits a trapezoidal shape, narrower on the east and wider on the west, featuring two gate towers. The eastern arch bears the inscription "Juyong Waizhen" (Frontier Town of Juyong), while the western gate displays "Beimen Suoyue" (Key to the Northern Gate). North of the fortress stretches the 12-tower Northern Wall section, while to the south lies the less crowded Southern Wall with 7 watchtowers. If time permits, we recommend exploring the Southern Wall first before tackling the more popular Northern section. ▲Walk Through Six Centuries of Golden History: A Visual Feast of Vermilion Foliage Blanketing the Great Wall ▲ As night descends, the Badaling Great Wall transforms into a gilded dragon winding through shadowed peaks, its illuminated battlements whispering tales of millennia - where imperial splendor meets enduring mystery beneath constellations of golden light. ▲Cloaked in winter's crystalline mantle, the Badaling Great Wall becomes a silver serpent coiled between snow-draped peaks, its ancient stones gilded by dawn's golden raysChina · Beijing

The National Museum of China is an institution that, on behalf of the country, collects, studies, displays and interprets representative material evidence that fully reflects China's fine traditional culture and advanced socialist culture. It is a national palace of history, culture and art and a cultural living room. The National Museum of China currently has more than 1.4 million collections, covering ancient cultural relics, modern and contemporary cultural relics, rare books and ancient books, and artworks. Among them, there are 815,000 pieces (sets) of ancient cultural relics, 340,000 pieces (sets) of modern and contemporary cultural relics, more than 240,000 pieces (volumes) of rare books and ancient books, and a total of nearly 6,000 first-class cultural relics. In recent years, especially since the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the National Museum of China has increased its efforts to collect representative material evidence reflecting contemporary advanced culture, and publicly collected cultural relics collections from the society, collecting an average of about 50 sets of ancient cultural relics and more than 1,000 sets of modern and contemporary cultural relics, physical objects and artworks each year. The exhibitions of the National Museum of China include three series: basic exhibitions, special exhibitions, and temporary exhibitions, forming a three-dimensional exhibition system covering theme exhibitions, basic exhibitions, special exhibitions, and temporary exhibitions. Among them, "Ancient China", "Road to Rejuvenation" and "Road to Rejuvenation in the New Era" are the basic exhibitions of the National Museum, and are also important positions for promoting Chinese traditional culture, advanced socialist culture, and cultivating and practicing the core socialist values. The special exhibitions are mainly based on the collection of cultural relics, including more than ten special exhibitions such as ancient Chinese bronzes, Buddhist statues, jades, porcelains, modern classic works of art, and African wood carvings. Temporary exhibitions include two categories: self-planned exhibitions and introduced exchange exhibitions, covering historical culture, fine cultural relics, archaeological discoveries, classic works of art, regional culture, international exchanges and other aspects, with an average of more than 40 exhibitions held each year. The National Museum of China has rich research resources, a solid research foundation and strong research capabilities, and is the industry leader in the development of the domestic museum industry. Since 2018, in accordance with the principle of "not seeking to collect but to exhibit, open cooperation, mutual benefit and win-win", we have established strategic cooperative relations with many cultural and museum institutions, institutes, universities and colleges at home and abroad, jointly carried out academic research, held high-quality cultural relics exhibitions, convened seminars, launched postdoctoral research workstations, and took the lead in establishing two international organizations, the BRICS Museum Alliance and the Silk Road Museum Alliance, striving to play a greater role and make greater contributions in promoting the core socialist values, enhancing cultural confidence, promoting exchanges and mutual learning between Chinese and foreign civilizations, and building a socialist cultural power.China · Beijing

Aranya · Qinhuangdao is a seaside community, and its name signifies tranquility and a return to one's true self. The core attractions of this seaside community are its cultural buildings constructed along the coast. It brings together various cultural spaces, including a library, auditorium, art museum, and art center, where the architecture creates a unique dialogue with the ocean, beach, and natural light. Among them, the library facing the sea, the minimalist pure white auditorium, the art museum hidden beneath the sand dunes, and the art center with its circular courtyard each offer unique features, perfect for a leisurely stroll. Beyond the architecture, public spaces like the coastline and beach are also worth exploring. The community's cultural venues host year-round theater, music, and literary performances and exhibitions, weaving an artistic atmosphere into daily seaside life. Hetou Old Street

7.7
4.7/5
6.2k reviews
Hetou Old Street is located on both banks of the Tangjin Canal in Fengnan District, Tangshan, covering an area of nearly 2,000 mu. It derives its name from the "river head" where the Coal River and Tangjin Canal converge. In the late Qing Dynasty, coal from the Kaiping Coal Mine was loaded onto ships in Xugezhuang and transported along the newly excavated Coal River to Tianjin for export. The starting point of the canal thus became a bustling water and land port. According to county records, at that time, "merchant ships and passenger vessels were as dense as a forest, and Western-style buildings and flower gardens were too numerous to take in at a glance." Today, the old street has been transformed from the long-dormant antique-style block "Canal Tangren Street." With Tang Dynasty culture as its theme and the canal as its foundation, it has formed a layout of "one river, one lake, two streets, and three islands," serving as an immersive nighttime attraction showcasing the grand Tang Dynasty's performing arts on water. Nighttime is the highlight of the old street: the "Tang"-inscribed lampposts and lantern-lit sky streets along the kilometer-long canal gradually light up, while painted boats glide across the water. The nearly 100-meter-high "Tangshan light" Ferris wheel offers a panoramic night view. NPCs dressed in Tang-style costumes roam the streets, where you can recite poetry with "Li Bai," answer scholarly exam questions from the "zhuangyuan," or win "silver notes" in mini-games like idiom chains and rock-paper-scissors to redeem snacks and cultural products. The lantern-lighting ceremony, water dance show, live performance of "Emperor Tang's eastern expedition," and iron-flower fireworks along the parade route from Tang King Square to Prosperity Pier amplify the Tang dynasty atmosphere as the night deepens. The daytime is perfect for thorough exploration: the large vats at the entrance of the Tai'er merchant banquet floating market correspond to the twenty-four solar terms, recreating the bustling commercial atmosphere of the traveling "Tai'er merchant" trade group. In the east bank art district, old courtyards relocated and replicated from Jiangxi, Anhui, Shanxi and other regions are interspersed with handmade shops, making the silk tree area ideal for photos. Wangzhen square's hitching posts, the Tangshan dialect square themed on local slang, the koi pond, and the old car & persimmon market blending vintage vehicles with persimmon trees each offer unique sights. The old street primarily focuses on nightlife, so it's recommended to enter in the evening. With cool riverside breezes and long walking sections at night, remember to bring a light jacket and wear comfortable shoes. Families with children can check out the indoor Tang Little Lord castle amusement park, while travelers who love hanfu may consider wearing Tang-style attire for more atmospheric photos.Tangshan · 57.5 km from Luanzhou

There are few people, the air is good, and the scenery is nice. It is worth a visit. There are also the Temple of the God of Wealth, the Sanxiao Palace, and the Temple of Medicine Buddha. It is okay to go up the mountain. It is a bit tiring, or you can drive up the mountain. There are three roads, two days of walking and one of driving.

The scholar said that Director Li took me to visit the National Museum of China and the Forbidden City. Thank you, Director Li, for your vivid, interesting, witty and humorous explanations. You made the historical stories that I originally thought were boring feel like I was there, immersed in the stories, and felt like I was a part of that era. It was a wonderful experience. Time flew by, and Director Li was still eager to tell more stories. Thank you, Director Li!

Five-star review! Thank you, Director Li, for your dedication, patience, and thorough explanations. We were originally scheduled to board at 8:00 AM from Lao She Teahouse near Qianmen, but considering it was too early, the subway transfer would be necessary, and the walking would take time, I considered getting a refund. Director Li learned that I was taking Metro Line 8 from Muxiyuan and directed me to the Beitucheng station, allowing us to meet at 8:50 AM. Following Director Li's directions, I boarded the bus at Beitucheng. Today's Great Wall visit went very smoothly and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you, Director Li!

If we're talking about the most famous attraction in Changli County, Qinhuangdao, Hebei Province, it has to be the Aranya Community. Originally a real estate development project intended as a community, it has now transformed into a popular tourist destination. This is because the unique atmosphere created by the cultural heritage and neighborly relations within the Aranya Community makes both residents and visitors feel comfortable. Due to the success of the Aranya project, it's now undoubtedly Changli's must-visit spot for social media check-ins, and it's definitely worth a visit.

Before visiting, my initial impression was that it would be similar to other tourist attractions with NPCs. However, after arriving, I found it to be completely different from what I had imagined. The performances inside the scenic area were so numerous and varied that it was impossible to watch them all. The NPCs were also incredibly knowledgeable, and my child even saw the figures of Li Bai, Du Fu, and Lord Cui, whom he had been longing to see. The scenery was also a pleasant surprise. With elderly people and children, one day was simply not enough to experience everything. The parade, the lighting ceremony, and the closing ceremony were all breathtaking. I highly recommend it. My child had a great time and said he would definitely come back again. I look forward to visiting Hetou Old Street again next time.
