Mauritshuis Museum

8.3
4.8/5
253 reviews
The Mauritshuis Museum is located in the center of Hague, adjacent to the parliamentary complex. The building itself is worth seeing: this 17th-century mansion was originally the private residence of Count John Maurice of Nassau-Siegen, designed by architects Jacob van Campen and Pieter Post. Its symmetrical facade is considered one of the representative works of Dutch classical architecture. The restored "Golden Room" on the ground floor is renowned for its gilded decorations and allegorical ceiling paintings—don't forget to look up during your visit. The museum saves masterpieces such as Vermeer's "View of Delft" and "Girl with a Pearl Earring," Rembrandt's breakthrough work "The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp," as well as works by Rubens. The museum's collection provides an excellent showcase of the people, landscapes, customs, and daily life during the Dutch Golden Age. The museum houses approx. 200 permanent exhibits on display. Though small in scale, it can be comfortably explored in one to two hrs. Visitors typically enter and exit through the lobby of the new building across the street, accessing the old hall via a round-trip underground passage. For a quieter viewing experience of "Girl with a Pearl Earring," it is recommended to avoid peak hours.Hague · 2.6 km from Scheveningen

Madurodam condenses the Netherlands into a tiny city. It has a real lighthouse, two huge dikes, and the Madurodam Lilliput of wavy buildings beckons and welcomes you. Famous Dutch landscapes such as the Cheese Market in Akma, the Peace Palace, the Royal Palace at Dam Square, and the houses along Amsterdam and the Delft Canal can all be seen in Lilliput. On the 4.5-kilometer-long railway, trains travel in all directions, windmills spin vigorously, and flat-bottomed boats shuttle back and forth on the canal. All replicas are built on a 25:1 scale to mimic the real thing and displayed in beautiful gardens. Indoor activities include the sand sculpture performance of "Sand World", which shows the history of the Netherlands and the sea. In winter, when the sunshine weakens, more than 50,000 street lamps will light up on the streets of Lilliput, turning it into a dreamy fairy tale country.Scheveningen · 427m from downtown

The International Court of War Criminals is located in The Hague, Netherlands, or ICC for short, and was established by the Treaty of Rome. The court was not far from the coast, in an open wood. The building with the dark red exterior wall is particularly eye-catching against the blue sky, and the bell tower standing tall on the left is in sharp contrast with the two-story sloping roof next to it. There is a wide lawn in front of the court building. At the end of the lawn is a long row of carved iron fences. The surrounding of the building is quiet and peaceful.Scheveningen · 1.1 km from downtown

I traveled to a city specifically for a painting. I went to The Hague just to see the masterpiece, "Girl with a Pearl Earring," in person. Compared to large museums, I personally prefer this art gallery; it's small, exquisite, and fulfilling, leaving a deep and unforgettable impression.

The wishing tree at the entrance of the Peace Palace has a Japanese style and is very close to the concept of the International Court of Justice. It is a relatively political attraction. Perhaps only people of a certain age like me will come here.

It's a relatively unknown museum, but well worth a visit. Located in a royal palace next to the embassy district in the center of The Hague, the exhibitions are definitely worth seeing. Furthermore, the prints by artist Escher consistently revolve around the themes of eternity and infinity, which are of great mathematical research value and highly recommended.

My time at Morarodum in The Hague with my mum was unforgettable. The cozy, charming accommodations offered a peaceful retreat, complete with thoughtful touches like fresh flowers and a lovely garden view. Located in a quiet yet convenient area, it was the perfect base for exploring The Hague. We visited the Peace Palace, enjoyed Scheveningen Beach, and admired masterpieces at the Mauritshuis Museum. Sharing stroopwafels and laughter with my mum made every moment special. The staff’s warm hospitality stood out—they provided excellent local tips, enhancing our experience. Morarodum was a serene and welcoming haven, blending relaxation with cultural discovery. It was a trip filled with joy, bonding, and beautiful memories. I’d highly recommend it for a heartfelt getaway.

I went to keukenhof with my girlfriend as we love a gardens, scenary and flowers with my girlfriends favourites being tulips, this place certainly didn't disappoint. Beautiful areas with plenty to see. Tickets were purchased with no issues, there's several food places and a large cafe and souvenir shop. I had planned on proposing to my girlfriend here and found the perfect spot with someone able to capture the moment on camera for us. Fortunately she said yes! We will definitely be coming back here as there are so many different types of flowers and plants to see.

The early summer sun shines lazily on the sea. Under the blowing of the sea breeze, waves of the boundless sea brush against the beach on the shore. Every breath of the sea brings the glitter of golden light. Birds are leisurely strolling on the fine sand.

🌟The Queen's Palace is located in the center of The Hague. Parking nearby is very inconvenient. There is a no-parking square in front of the Queen's Palace. The road next to it is very narrow, which tests your parking skills... 🌟The Queen's Palace is where the Queen works. If the Dutch flag 🇳🇱 is raised, it means that the Queen is in the palace~ It is not open to tourists, so you can only see the exterior~
