Salina Slănic Prahova (Mina Unirea)
Salina Slănic Prahova (Mina Unirea) is located in Slanic, Prahova, Romania, and is one of the larger salt mine tourist attractions in Europe, as well as a representative local underground cultural heritage site. The salt mine has a long history of mining. Early salt mine development began in the 17th century, and after hundreds of years of development, it has gradually formed the grand underground space seen today. The main area currently open to visitors is the Unirea Mine (Mina Unirea), which consists of a large number of huge, hand-excavated salt chambers, creating a spacious and spectacular underground space. Inside the mine, there are unique salt rock textures and regular geometric structures. The tall salt walls and huge chambers showcase the unique landscape left by long-term mining activities. Due to the stable underground environment, the mine maintains a relatively constant temperature and humidity year-round, forming a special underground microclimate. In addition to admiring the underground salt mine scenery, visitors can also experience a variety of leisure activities within the mining area.
