The square gradually developed with the construction of the cathedral and was named after it. In the center of the square stands the equestrian bronze statue of Vittorio Emanuele II, the first king of the Kingdom of Italy. Around the square, there are also a series of important buildings such as the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, the neoclassical-style royal palace, and the cathedral museum. On the square, you can see flocks of leisurely strolling pigeons, and sometimes in the evening, you may encounter impromptu street performances. Santa Maria delle Grazie is located in the west of Milan, on the south side of the Sforza Castle. This red Catholic building consists of a church and a Dominican monastery. It is famous for the fresco "The Last Supper" by Leonardo da Vinci in the monastery's refectory. It was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1980. . The Last Supper "The Last Supper" was created by Leonardo da Vinci in the 15th century, using innovative and bold painting techniques combining oil and tempera, creating a unique perspective effect, but also easily eroded. On August 15, 1943, the church and the congregation were bombed by British and American aircraft, and most of the canteen of the congregation was destroyed, but the wall on which The Last Supper was located survived. Centuries later, 80 percent of the painting's colors had faded, and restoration work began in 1977 and continued for 22 years. At present, the number of visitors is strictly controlled, and the number of visitors cannot exceed 30 at a time. In addition to the "Last Supper", the church building itself is also worth seeing. The church was built under the auspices of Duke Sforzesco and was finally completed in 1490. It was once used as the tomb of the Sforzesco family. Later, when the French invaded, the cultural relics and treasures in the church were looted, but the exquisite dome and frescoes were still preserved. The sacristy is now the Dominican cultural center, and often holds some salons and art exhibitions.Milan · 43.4 km from Somma Lombardo

The Last Supper is a mural painting by the Italian High Renaissance artist Leonardo da Vinci, dated to c. 1495–1498, housed in the refectory of the Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan, Italy. The painting represents the scene of the Last Supper of Jesus with the Twelve Apostles, as it is told in the Gospel of John – specifically the moment after Jesus announces that one of his apostles will betray him. Its handling of space, mastery of perspective, treatment of motion and complex display of human emotion has made it one of the Western world's recognizable paintings and among Leonardo's celebrated works. Some commentators consider it pivotal in inaugurating the transition into what is now termed the High Renaissance.Milan · 43.4 km from Somma Lombardo

If time is limited, you can choose the ceiling painting "Panel Room" created by Leonardo da Vinci and the sculpture (The Madonna of Lamentation by Lundanini) made by Michelangelo a few days before his death. A must see collection in the museum. After visiting the museum, you can take a break in Parco Sempione behind the castle, which is very suitable for a walk while eating delicious Italian ice cream; you can also find a bench in the shade and enjoy lunch in a picnic-like mood , experience the life-like side of Milan.Milan · 43.7 km from Somma Lombardo

The Brera Art Gallery was officially established in 1809, but as early as 1776, it had already housed a diverse collection of artworks, which continued to expand in the following years. These works, along with the Academy of Fine Arts founded by Austria's Maria Theresa, were used for educational purposes. The collection aimed to gather exemplary works for students to study. This art gallery is one of the important repositories of Italian paintings and a representative painting museum in Milan, primarily housing works from the 15th to 18th centuries by the Lombard and Venetian schools. The Pinacoteca di Brera was founded in 1809 by Napoleon I. Initially displaying renowned paintings from the collection of the Milan Academy of Fine Arts, the exhibits gradually expanded, focusing mainly on Renaissance paintings, along with some works by Dutch artists. The gallery is housed in the Brera Palace, built in the second half of the 15th century, which was converted into an academy of fine arts in the late 18th century, becoming a gallery for students to study masterpieces. The collection includes many classic works by masters, such as Raphael's "The Marriage of the Virgin," Mantegna's "The Lamentation of Christ," Piero della Francesca's "Montefeltro Altarpiece," and Hayez's "The Kiss." Here, one can experience the outstanding artistic achievements of the Italian Renaissance in the north. By 1813, the art gallery had collected nearly 900 works, and the collection saw little change until the end of the 19th century. In the early 20th century, the collection began to grow significantly again due to generous donations from various parties, such asCaravaggio's "Supper at Emmaus" was acquired during this period, which also marked the beginning of a focus on 19th-century paintings, with numerous works being purchased successively.Milan · 44.2 km from Somma Lombardo

⛪ Duomo di Milano 🇮🇹 — A Gothic Masterpiece! ✨Visiting Milan Cathedral was one of the highlights of my time in Milan! ❤️ Its magnificent white marble façade, countless sculptures, and towering Gothic spires are even more impressive in person. 😍🏛️What amazed me most was the incredible attention to detail and the sheer scale of the cathedral, which took nearly six centuries to complete!🌅 The highlight? Exploring the rooftop terraces! Walking among the intricate spires while admiring panoramic views over Milan was an unforgettable experience. 📸✨💡 Travel tip: Book rooftop tickets in advance and visit early in the morning to avoid the biggest crowds. Don’t miss the beautiful Piazza del Duomo surrounding the cathedral!❤️ An absolute must-see in Milan, combining extraordinary architecture, centuries of history, and breathtaking views!#DuomoDiMilano #Milan #ItalyTravel #GothicArchitecture

Short walk from Malpensa. Just follow the sign to the museum from the terminal. Walk across the white bridge to the back of the museum. You can either walk along the fence to the front entrance, or call the number on the back gate and ask the staff to bring you in.Great exhibition of aircrafts, helicopters and cars. Model aircraft collections were abundant. Must visit for airplane lovers!

A Milan landmark, the castle was originally built in 1360 and rebuilt by the Sforza family in 1450. It is a typical Milanese Renaissance-style military castle. The red brick main structure, coupled with soaring towers, thick walls, and symmetrical arches, exudes grandeur and a vintage charm. The core courtyard and park are completely free, while the museums charge admission but the tickets are very low, and there are multiple free admissions. The castle houses more than ten themed museums, somewhat scattered, but their collections are so valuable they can be considered miniature art palaces. You can encounter top-tier masterpieces without having to travel to major art museums. The most dazzling of these is Michelangelo's last sculpture, the Pietà of Rondanini, a masterpiece from his later years, possessing immense artistic value.

The Pinacoteca di Brera is one of Milan's most important painting museums, renowned for its rich collection of art from the Renaissance to the Baroque periods. More than just a museum, the Pinacoteca di Brera itself is a historical monument, incorporating elements of an art academy, botanical garden, and observatory, forming a unique cultural and artistic complex.
