Tateyama Sanroku Ski Area (Paradise Slope)

4.1
Tateyama Sanroku Ski Area (Paradise Slope) is located in the natural hinterland of the Tateyama mountain range in Toyama Prefecture, Japan. It attracts ski enthusiasts with its powder snow resources in winter. The layout of the ski trails fully takes into account the needs of different skill levels. The slopes covered with evergreen forests and the ski trails extend in an interlaced manner, forming a unique ecological sports scene. Toyama Glass Art Museumis the culmination of Toyama City's urban planning initiative to build a "Glass City Toyama," and is housed within the "" complex alongside the Toyama City Public Library. Located in the heart of Toyama City, it not only specializes in showcasing culture and art but also plays a vital role in creating new urban appeal. The building was designed by renowned architect Kengo Kuma, who skillfully combined materials with different properties, such as Mikage stone (granite produced in the Mikage region), glass, and aluminum. The building's exterior is novel and unique, resembling the diverse peaks of the Tateyama Mountain Range. Inside, the building utilizes wood produced in Toyama Prefecture, arranged at various angles like louvers, which provides a sense of warmth while fully realizing the openness of the space. The interior cleverly uses light and mirrors to create a sense of transparency, making the stained glass works appear magnificent in the darkness.Toyama City · 848m from downtown

Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route

4.9/5
38 reviews
Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route stretches across the Northern Alps peaks on the border of Toyama and Nagano prefectures. With multiple 3,000m-class peaks like Oyama, Onanji-yama, and Mount Tsurugi forming a continuous ridge, it represents the essence of the Japanese Alps scenery. Together with Mount Fuji and Mount Haku, it is known as one of Japan's three sacred mountains and has been a site of mountain worship for over a thousand years. Besides hiking, you can explore this area by using a relay of various transportation modes such as funiculars, highland buses, tunnel trolley buses, and ropeways to ascend from the mountain foot to above the sea of clouds. Every spring, the Yuki no Ōtani section's snow walls can reach nearly 20m in height, making driving through it feel like passing through a white canyon; in summer and fall, alpine plants in the Midagahara wetlands bloom in succession and later turn into golden autumn colors. Sometimes, you may even encounter ptarmigans inhabiting the mountains. Murododaira, at an altitude of approx. 2,450m, is a plateau above the clouds. On sunny days, the nearby volcanic lake, Mikurigaike, reflects the Mount Tate peaks, making it a classic photo attraction; descending to the Kurobe River valley, the Kurobe Dam, standing over 180m tall, spans the deep valley. When water is discharged, the mist rises, creating an awe-inspiring sight; on the side of the mountain foot, the four-tiered Shomyo Falls, with a total drop of approx. 350m, is also worth a visit along the way.Tateyama · 24.2 km from Toyama City

This artificial hot spring uses medicinal stones and is rich in far-infrared effects, which warm the body from the core and help relieve fatigue, stiff shoulders, and sensitivity to cold. The facility offers a wide variety of baths, including five types of massage baths and a high-concentration carbonated spring. The men's and women's baths are designed with Kurobe and Jintsu River themes, respectively, and rotate daily, offering a fresh experience each time. The seven-tiered high-temperature tower sauna features temperatures ranging from 70°C–90°C. Paired with a Binchotan charcoal cold plunge pool using groundwater from the Tateyama Mountain Range, the hot-and-cold alternation provides a refreshing experience for both body and mind.Toyama City · 2 km from downtown

Toyama Canal Park is perfect for a relaxing stroll! The canal is lined with green trees and has wide trails, making it comfortable for cycling or walking. The landmark "Tianmen Bridge" has a beautiful night view, and its reflection on the water is super dreamy. There is also a Starbucks in the park, and it is very comfortable to sit in the open air and drink coffee. Cherry blossoms in spring and red leaves in autumn, each season has different beautiful scenery, and both locals and tourists love to come here!

Because of Typhoon Rosa, we had to adjust our itinerary. I usually like to visit historical exhibition halls when traveling, and I am not interested in art galleries because I don't understand them very well. If my friends want to come, we can come together. The cultural and creative products of this place are still worth seeing.

Amaharashi Coast – Noto Peninsula Quasi-National Park | ReviewThe Amaharashi Coast, located in Toyama Prefecture within the Noto Peninsula Quasi-National Park, is a stunningly scenic spot where the sea meets the mountains in dramatic fashion.Scenic Beauty:The coast is famous for its picturesque views of the Tateyama Mountain Range across Toyama Bay. On clear days, the snow-covered peaks seem to float above the sea, offering one of Japan’s most iconic coastal landscapes. The coast is lined with pine trees and dotted with rocky formations, giving it a peaceful, almost timeless atmosphere.Cultural Highlights:One of the key attractions is Yoshitsune Rock, tied to the legend of the samurai Minamoto no Yoshitsune, who is said to have taken shelter there during a storm. A small shrine stands atop the rock, adding historical depth to the location.Accessibility:The coast is easily accessible via the JR Himi Line. From Amaharashi Station, it’s just a short 5-minute walk to the beach. The station itself is a charming wooden building that adds to the nostalgic vibe of the area. What Visitors Say:“Very peaceful and good view location.” – Mingche C.“A must-see for people in the area. Great views of the Noto coast and the Tateyama mountain range when the weather is clear.” – Theron M.Tips:Visit on a clear winter day for the best views of the mountains.Mornings are ideal for photography and fewer tourists.A nearby roadside station offers food, drinks, souvenirs, and restroom facilities.Final Verdict:A hidden gem of the Hokuriku region, Amaharashi Coast is perfect for nature lovers, photographers, and history buffs. The combination of sea, mountains, and legend makes it a truly unforgettable experience.

Toyama Castle is one of the famous ancient castles in Japan and has been listed as a World Cultural Heritage. It not only has Japanese characteristics, but also the castle tower has beautiful red leaves. The red leaves in Toyama Castle are really beautiful, and they contrast with the golden grass on the ground. It is really beautiful.
