Mount SiguniangLocated in Xiaojin County, Aba Prefecture, it consists of four continuous peaks. The four peaks are covered with snow all year round, resembling four graceful maidens with white veils, standing successively above the two silver rivers of Changping Valley and Haizi Valley, hence the name Mount Siguniang. At Maobiliang, you can see the magnificent view of the four connected peaks by the roadside, making it a great spot for photography. Mount Siguniang consists of four snow peaks and three valleys: Shuangqiao Valley, Changping Valley, and Haizi Valley. Pure outdoor enthusiasts may choose to hike through and camp in the valleys, but they must strictly comply with the attraction's regulations on outdoor activities.Xiaojin · 45.5 km from downtown

Shuangqiaogou got its name from the two wooden bridges in the valley. The ditch is mainly dominated by snow peaks, pastures, grasslands, forests, etc. It is a beautiful ditch in Siguniang Mountain. Walking in the ditch, you can experience the real pastoral scenery. The main scenic spots are Yinyang Valley, Hunter Peak, Sun and Moon Mirror and Five Colors Mountain, etc. For the convenience of traffic, the local people built two wooden bridges in the ditch, one of which was made of willow wood, commonly known as the willow bridge; the other was made of red cedar wood, commonly known as the convenience bridge. Shuangqiaogou got its name from this. The mountains in Shuangqiaogou are steep and tortuous, with lush forests. There are not only the common birch forests and cypress forests in the low mountain areas, but also the spruce, fir, and redwood in the high mountain areas, and even the sea buckthorn, shrubs, and larch. Every spring and autumn, the ditch is colorful and spectacular. There are sightseeing cars in the ditch that go directly to the end of the ditch, so you can enjoy the wonders in the ditch effortlessly.Xiaojin · 42.3 km from downtown

Changpinggou is about 29 kilometers long. The canyon is long and deep. The peak of Siguniang Mountain, Meimei Peak, is located here. The main attractions include Zhangmu Village, Lama Temple, Ganhaizi and Hongshi Beach. The canyon of Changpinggou is deep and deep, and most sections can only be accessed by horseback or on foot. There are rich species of primitive plants in Changpinggou, and the vegetation is well preserved. In the vast primeval forest, the ancient cypresses are tall and straight, the green pines are dense and leafy, and the fir trees and willows are dense and dense, covering the sky. Tibetan villages are dotted among them. Among them, Zhangmu Village is the largest Jiarong Tibetan village in the area. It retains the unique architectural style of Jiarong Tibetans and has simple folk customs. The surrounding area is full of rugged rocks and blooming mountain flowers. There are also dozens of meters of waterfalls rushing down, splashing water, which is quite spectacular. The streams flow through the grassland, showing a scene of harmonious coexistence between man and nature. Changpinggou is a paradise for outdoor sports enthusiasts. It is the base camp for climbing the Third and Fourth Peaks, and an ideal place for rock climbing and ice climbing.Xiaojin · 45.8 km from downtown

Cat's Nose Ridge is a roadside viewing platform on the way to Siguniangshan Town. Standing here and looking into the distance, the four snow-capped peaks of Mount Siguniang are lined up in a row. Yaomei Peak is striking in size and is known as the Queen of Sichuan Mountains. The foreground features the Chaoshanping ridge in the direction of Haizigou, where grassy slopes rise gently, framing the distant snow-capped peaks with clear layers. Morning and evening are the times when the light here is softer, and the sunlight dyes the snow-capped peaks golden red from the summit down. It is right next to the road, so you can take photos just a few steps after getting out of the car, and you can take in the view of all four snow-capped peaks without having to enter the Mount Siguniang Scenic Area.Xiaojin · 46 km from downtown

Sawu Sacred Mountain is located in Fubian Township, Xiaojin County, Aba Prefecture, in northwestern Sichuan, and is part of the Mo'erduo Sacred Mountain range. The mountain's silhouette is sharp and distinct. From a distance, it looks like a sharp sword piercing the sky. The snow on the peak never melts, and it is revered by the local Jiarong Tibetan people as a sacred mountain that protects the region, with prayer flags fluttering in the wind across the mountainside. Upon arrival, you can first settle in Daping Village at the foot of the mountain to acclimatize to the altitude and enjoy a steaming hot yak meat hot pot. Here, you can often look up and see the Milky Way stretching across the sky. In the early morning at the mountain pass, a sea of clouds surges up from the Fubian River valley, and the golden light of sunrise spills over the granite peaks, creating the classic golden mountain scene. From the summit, you can also overlook the emerald-like Hulu Lake. In summer, the Meilegou meadow is carpeted with wildflowers, and herders drive their yak herds to graze. In the fall, the larch trees turn a brilliant golden yellow. In winter, it transforms into a silvery world of ice and snow.Xiaojin · 43.5 km from downtown

Haizi Vallety is named after the dozens of lakes of different sizes in the ditch, which sparkle like gems under the sunshine. The water in Haizi Vallety contains copper, so it looks particularly blue. When the breeze blows, the blue waves sparkle, which is quite beautiful. Haizigou is 19 kilometers long. There are more than ten alpine lakes in the ditch, such as Dahaizi, Huahaizi, Baihai, Lanhai, Huanghai, etc. The lake water is clear and blue. Standing on the shore, watching the yellow ducks wandering leisurely on the water, it seems that everything in the world can be forgotten. Haizi Vallety has a rugged terrain and can only be walked or ridden. Generally, few people can reach the place with lakes. The place where ordinary people reach most is Guozhuangping. This is one of the best places to watch the heroic appearance of Siguniang Mountain. Every year on the fourth day of May, Tibetans from the surrounding areas will gather in Guozhuangping, dance the cheerful Guozhuang, and worship Siguniang Mountain.Xiaojin · 51.7 km from downtown

Siguniangshan Dafeng is one of the four peaks of Siguniangshan, located in Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, China. It attracts many outdoor enthusiasts with its magnificent natural scenery and moderate climbing difficulty. Dafeng is about 5025 meters above sea level. It is one of the easier peaks to climb in Siguniangshan and is suitable for climbers with some alpine experience. The climbing route of Dafeng is relatively mature. It usually starts from Haizigou. Along the way, you can enjoy alpine meadows, virgin forests and clear streams, which are picturesque. During the climb, you may also meet local Tibetan herdsmen and experience the unique ethnic customs. Due to the high altitude, it is recommended that tourists prepare for altitude sickness in advance and bring necessary climbing equipment. The recommended climbing season is summer, when the weather is relatively stable and the scenery is pleasant. The Siguniangshan Scenic Area where Dafeng is located has convenient transportation. You can take a bus or drive from Chengdu. There are many hotels and restaurants in the scenic area, providing basic accommodation and catering services. Stretching from Erdao Bridge in Putou Town, Li County to Chenmazi Bridge in Jiesi Valley, Xiaojin County, the 94.874-kilometer Li Xiao Road is a scenic self-driving route. Situated at the junction of Miyaluo Provincial Nature Reserve and Mt. Siguniang Nature Reserve, this highway traverses alpine ecological zones between 2,000–3,600 meters above sea level. Connecting renowned attractions like Bipenggou, Jiesi Glacier, and Mt. Siguniang, it showcases classic Western Sichuan landscapes—snow-capped mountains, forests, valleys, glaciers, and meadows—making it a breathtaking mountain-view highway with spectacular scenery along the way. The opening of Li Xiao Road has ended the past where neighboring counties Lixian and Xiaojin were adjacent yet disconnected, and eliminated the need for detours through Wenchuan or Barkam that added hundreds of kilometers to journeys between them. More than just seamlessly linking two major scenic areas—Miyaluo and Mt. Siguniang—this highway also provides access to previously hard-to-reach hidden gems nestled among snow-capped peaks, including Liangtaigou Valley, Jiesi Glacier, and Da'erpu. Li Xiao Road is located 200 km from Chengdu at a comfortable elevation, offering a pleasant self-driving experience. Along the way, visitors can admire breathtaking snow-capped mountains, grasslands, canyons, rivers, and vibrant forests, with each season presenting its own unique scenery. In May and June, wildflowers blanket the hills, while July and August bring lush greenery. Autumn and winter transform the landscape with colorful foliage and snow-covered vistas, providing a perfect journey for visitors to connect with nature and rejuvenate their spirits.Xiaojin · 17.3 km from downtown

Redwood Forest is a viewpoint in Shuangqiao Valley, with an altitude of 3,800 meters. The redwood trees growing around are called Sichuan Redwood, a very precious national second-class protected plant in the Hengduan Mountains within Sichuan, and one of the plant species found here. The Sequoia tree has a long history, almost appearing simultaneously with the Quaternary glaciers. In spring, it sprouts new buds; in summer, it provides green shade; in autumn, it turns golden; and in winter, it is covered in silver. It remains fresh throughout the seasons, never tiring to behold, and holds high scenic value. It is another sacred tree in Shuangqiaogou of Siguniang Mountain, besides the sea buckthorn tree.Xiaojin · 48.3 km from downtown

I highly recommend Mount Siguniang! It truly lives up to its reputation as the "Queen of Sichuan Mountains, the Alps of the East." This trip to western Sichuan was absolutely breathtaking; all my expectations were met, and it even far exceeded my anticipation! The four snow-capped peaks stand in a row, with the highest, Yaomei Peak, towering and beautiful, perpetually covered in snow, its sharp edges striking awe-inspiring against the clear blue sky of the plateau. Clouds often swirl around the mountainsides like a soft white veil, sometimes obscuring the peaks, sometimes revealing their true beauty. Every frame, amidst the ever-changing clouds, is like a natural oil painting; no filter is needed for any shot.

This is the friendliest place in western Sichuan. The scenery is beautiful, and it's not tiring. You can take a sightseeing bus up the mountain and slowly enjoy the scenery on the way down. We also went rafting. It's a place I would like to visit again in different seasons.

We absolutely loved Changping Valley for many reasons, such as the beautiful autumn scenery, crisp air, sights of the wild horses and yaks..but most of all, the lack of throngs of tourists. The people who go to Changping Valley are more of hikers and travellers - not those photo-clicking tourists. It was an absolute bliss to experience the quietness and stillness of nature, with the occasional chirping of birds accompanying our journey on the boardwalks. I would go back for the nature. The sightseeing bus only brings you up to the start of the valley boardwalk..so you’ll have to either walk your way up, or take the horse rides (charges are based on checkpoints, but the cheapest costs 150 yuan - see attached pic below)

Maobiliang is a viewing point on the road along the Sichuan West Loop. From here, as long as the weather is good, you can see the whole picture of Siguniang Mountain, especially the highest peak, Simei Peak, which is the second highest peak in western Sichuan. The snow on the top of the mountain never melts all year round. The surrounding mountains are also very beautiful when viewed from the viewing point!

Avoid horseback riding at all costs! Avoid horseback riding at all costs! Avoid horseback riding at all costs! I booked a round-trip horseback ride to Huahaizi for 720 yuan, but on the way there, the driver at the pick-up point refused to take me! He said he didn't want to go anymore. Later I found out he went to pick up hikers coming down from Dafeng in the early morning and ripped them off! I was speechless! So here's my very honest advice for anyone going to Haizigou: 1. Don't ride a horse. If you want to ride, only go as far as Chaotianping. Don't go any further. First, you're likely to get ripped off, and second, the scenery is best at Chaotianping. Go as far as Shiban Re, and the Dahaizi area is really not worth it; it's quite ordinary. Huahaizi is just a ditch unless it's in bloom. Anyone who goes there is a huge waste of 20km of boring mountain trails. Anyone who rides a horse is a fool who gets ripped off by the horsemen. (Attached photos: the first two are of Chaotianping, the last two are of the endless, muddy horse trail beyond Chaotianping, and Dahaizi, which is only 20km further on the round trip.) 🙂

Majiagou in autumn colors is well worth a visit. After taking the scenic shuttle bus, you need to hike for more than an hour. The highest altitude is over 4200 meters, so be careful to prevent altitude sickness. Walking slowly will help.

Mount Siguniang, known as the "Queen of Sichuan Mountains," is a must-see snow-capped mountain paradise in western Sichuan. Shuangqiao Valley offers a relaxing sightseeing bus tour, with redwood forests, meadows, and lakes unfolding in succession, the lakes reflecting the snow-capped peaks – every view is a masterpiece. Changping Valley is perfect for hiking, offering close-up views of Yaomei Peak, accompanied by forest streams and a truly immersive mountain atmosphere. Plateau weather is unpredictable, with significant temperature differences between day and night; be sure to dress warmly and be aware of altitude sickness. The harmonious blend of snow-capped mountains, meadows, and forests offers both magnificent landscapes and soothing wilderness scenery – a place you'll never forget.
