Things to do in Zogang County

Shika Snow Mountain isn't particularly exciting, but if you have nowhere else to go or want a relaxing high-altitude experience, it's worth a visit. The park staff are very welcoming and provide excellent service. Luggage storage is available. Napa Lake is right outside the park, so you can visit both together if you have time. The two cable car rides take about 50 minutes each way and are well worth it.

Suosong Village: A Peach Blossom Secret Hidden on the Banks of the Yarlung Zangbo River If you're looking for a place that blends snow-capped mountains, a river, and peach blossoms into one stunning scene, Suosong Village should be high on your list. It sits midway up the Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon, overlooking the majestic silhouette of Mount Namjagbarwa and the surging Yarlung Zangbo River. In spring, peach blossoms blanket the mountains, while in autumn, layers of forests paint the valley. Even the morning mist on ordinary days seems to shroud the village in a gentle veil. Most of the village's inns have been converted from Tibetan-style dwellings, offering breathtaking views from the window. In the evening, sit in the courtyard and watch the sunset gild the snow-capped mountains. In the morning, listen to the gurgling river and wait for the first rays of sunlight to penetrate the clouds, and even time seems to slow down. There's no need to search for scenic spots; simply stroll along the village roads, encounter villagers carrying barley, or find a quiet spot on a rock by the river to experience the healing power of the Tibetan mountains. The only thing to note is that you need to book a room in advance during the peak season, and it is recommended to drive slowly as the mountain road is winding - but the journey is definitely worth it.

The scenery in Daocheng Yading is amazing. This is my second time visiting. The buses and shuttle buses are very convenient. There are service personnel everywhere, and there are many hot water and oxygen supply stations. Staff at the supply stations can help measure blood oxygen levels.

Lashankou is the separator between Zuogong County in Qamdo and Meili Snow Mountain, and is also an important landmark on the Yunnan-Tibet Highway. "La" is Tibetan, which means high mountain. In Tibetan, it is called "XX La", such as Tanggula. "Ri" refers to all mountains, regardless of height. "La" emphasizes high peaks. In short, they are all Tibetan. The section from Yunnan to Tibet is a continuous uphill road, and the traffic is very difficult to move. Even the driver said that manual transmission is more suitable for the road conditions here.

Internet-famous Tree The alarm clock hit 6:35 AM, and I crawled out of the tent and showered with ice-cold water. All the sleepiness was gone! Breakfast was at 7:30 AM, and we set off at 8:00 AM sharp! Today's destination was the internet-famous tree! Honestly, without a guide, I wouldn't have known which tree it was. 😂 But the highlight of the day wasn't the destination, but the grassland scenery along the way. This was my first time exploring such a vast expanse of grassland! The mountain was covered in tiny toothbrush flowers, so beautiful! We naturally took tons of beautiful photos. I was even happier to capture the beautiful scenery and my companions than to take any beautiful photos myself! The snow-capped mountains, as usual, were shy, revealing only a portion of their appearance. We rested at a tree for a snack and waited for almost half an hour, but still didn't get to see the entirety of Genyen. Today's hike: 26,017 steps

In late April and early May, the moss and grass aren't very green yet, the lake is beautiful, and the weather is unpredictable, offering a taste of all four seasons. It can rain one minute, then be sunny the next; clouds drift across the mountainside, then disperse to reveal snow-capped peaks. Remember to bring a raincoat. There are rockfalls on the road from Shangri-La, and snow accumulation on the mountains. Drive carefully near tunnels as there may be ice on the road.

Visited the Dafo Temple and the giant prayer wheel there is seriously impressive! Spinning it with the locals felt really calming and special. Plus, the view from the top is amazing🥺 you can see all of Shangri-La! It's a peaceful and meaningful stop for sure 🩵

Guishan Park is the highest place in Dukezong Ancient City, next to Moonlight Square. The mountain is not high, but it takes about ten minutes to climb. After all, the altitude is high, and you have to breathe after walking a few steps. The view from the top of the mountain is very good, and you can see the entire ancient city and the snow-capped mountains in the distance.

The scenic area boasts a beautiful environment, stunning natural scenery, a well-defined tour route, comprehensive facilities, and friendly staff, making for a relaxing and enjoyable overall experience. It's definitely worth visiting again.

Absolutely adorable! The wild Yunnan snub-nosed monkeys are so cute. Their bright red lips and mohawk hairstyles are truly distinctive. There were also some incredibly mischievous newborn monkeys this year. It's recommended to arrive early, as it's a 10-40 minute walk after getting off the sightseeing bus. Climbing mountains at high altitudes is quite tiring, and if you don't arrive at the observation point before the 10:40 am lunch break, you won't see the monkeys. During the observation, please listen to the guides to avoid getting too close to the monkeys and getting attacked.
