🏜️ Huacachina: South America’s Only Natural Desert Oasis 🇵🇪 Surrounded by towering, wind-sculpted sand dunes in the coastal Ica Desert, Huacachina is a natural desert oasis centered around a vibrant emerald lagoon. Shaded by native carob trees and tall date palms, this compact village is famous in Peruvian legend: folklore tells of a native princess whose bath was transformed into the lagoon, while the folds of her mantle billowed to create the surrounding dunes. Today, Huacachina serves as the adventure capital of the Peruvian coast. It is world-renowned for high-octane dune buggy excursions across some of the continent's tallest sand mountains, thrilling sandboarding descents, paddleboating on calm waters, and golden desert sunsets. 📍 Key Highlights & Top Experiences Extreme Dune Buggy Safaris (Tubulares): The defining thrill of the oasis. High-powered, open-air roll-cage buggies piloted by licensed drivers speed across the sweeping dunes, climbing sheer vertical crests and diving down steep sand waves in a rollercoaster-style desert circuit. Sandboarding & Sand-Skiing the Giant Slopes: Included with most buggy expeditions, riders descend massive dunes on customized wooden sandboards. Beginners can ride belly-down ("sled-style"), while experienced snowboarders and sandboarders wax the board bases to carve standing down 100-meter vertical sand slopes. Lagoon Boardwalk & Paddleboat Rentals: Stroll the peaceful paved perimeter boardwalk wrapping around the emerald green lagoon (Laguna de Huacachina). Visitors can rent two-person pedal boats or rowboats to drift across the water beneath the palms, surrounded by the towering natural sand amphitheater. Climbing the Dune Ridges for Sunset: Hike up the massive dune directly behind the village on foot in the late afternoon. As the sun sinks toward the Pacific Ocean, the shifting winds create sharp shadows, turning the vast desert landscape from brilliant pale gold to deep amber, violet, and crimson. Pisco & Wine Bodega Tastings in Ica: Located just 10 minutes outside the desert basin, the fertile Ica Valley is the historic heart of Peru's national spirit: Pisco. Visit traditional artisan distilleries (such as El Catador or Tacama, the oldest vineyard in South America) for guided tastings of aromatic and non-aromatic grape brandies paired with regional Criollo dishes. 🚶 Recommended 1-Day Adventure Itinerary 10. 00 – Arrival & Promenade Walk: Arrive from Lima or Paracas, check into an oasis lodge, and walk the shaded lagoon boardwalk to view the rustic palm groves and colonial architecture. 11. 30 – Paddleboating & Lagoon Relaxation: Rent a pedal boat to explore the water, followed by an early lunch of fresh ceviche, lomo saltado, or a chilled Pisco Sour along the waterfront terrace cafes. 13:30 – Pisco Bodega Excursion: Take a short taxi into the nearby Ica countryside to tour historic copper pot stills and cellars, sampling regional Pisco and sweet local wines (approx. 2 hours).

Just finished a trip to Peru at the end of August. This season offers a perfect window of clear weather, allowing you to visit the misty Machu Picchu and the coastal cliff sea views. You can experience the highlands, ancient cities, deserts, and rainforests all in one trip. Here is a complete self-guided travel guide to help you avoid most travel hassles! 🌤️Climate overview for August–September travel August to September is the middle of Peru’s dry season, making it very comfortable for travel. The coastal area around Lima is dry year-round with no rain. Strong sunshine during the day and cool sea breezes in the evening make for pleasant temperatures. Cusco and the Machu Picchu highland area have clear skies during the day with large temperature differences between day and night. Midday temperatures reach the 20s Celsius, while early mornings can drop to single digits. The eastern rainforest region occasionally experiences brief, scattered showers and humid air. Mountain trails are often foggy in the early morning, with mist gradually clearing by afternoon. Be sure to bring high-SPF sunscreen, a thick windbreaker, comfortable hiking shoes, and moisturizing skincare. In the highlands, pack sugary snacks and warm water to help ease mild altitude discomfort. 📍Itinerary plan | 8-day relaxed self-guided trip Day 1–Day 2 Rest and explore Lima’s coastal old town Arrive in Lima and acclimate. Spend the day visiting colonial-style churches and artisan markets. In the evening, stroll along the cliffside coastal trail to enjoy the ocean cliffs and Pacific views. No long-distance travel planned to allow for a slow adjustment. Day 3–Day 4 Slow exploration of Cusco highland ancient city Take intercity transport to the highland city of Cusco. Spend the first two days taking it easy to adjust to the altitude. Wander the stone-paved streets and ancient mountain terraces. Visit local markets to try specialty snacks. Rest early at night to recover. Day 5–Day 6 Machu Picchu ruins loop Take the mountain train to the Machu Picchu area. On the first morning, enter the site early to see the mist-shrouded sky city. Hike the mountain trails to explore the full ruins. The next day, visit nearby terraces and the hot spring town for a close-up experience of Inca civilization. Day 7 Light desert day trip Head to the Nasca area’s nearby viewing hill to see the famous geoglyph lines. Pass through desert and gobi landscapes, enjoying the vast scenery of plains and distant mountains. Wait for the gobi sunset at dusk. Day 8 Shopping, rest, and return Return to Lima city. Visit spice and handicraft markets to pick up souvenirs. Relax and leave plenty of time to prepare for your return trip. 📸Top photo spots 1. Machu Picchu ruins⛰️ Early morning mist wraps the stone city nestled against the mountain range, creating an incredible atmosphere. When the fog clears, the panoramic platform offers a full view of the sky city. Light-colored dresses complement the rocky background. Early mornings have fewer tourists, making it easy to capture clean shots without crowds. 2. Cusco mountain terraces🌾 Layered circular terraces spread across the highland valleys. The yellow-brown earth contrasts with the distant snow-capped mountains. Wide-angle shots from above create a strong visual impact. On sunny days, light and shadow play on the terrace patterns, full of rustic Inca charm. 3. Lima cliffside coastal trail🌊 Cliffs rise hundreds of meters above the Pacific Ocean, with waves rolling below. Green plants dot the trail along the shore. At sunset, the sea glows orange, making any snapshot by the cliff feel like a stylish vacation photo. 4. Cusco colorful stone streets🏘️ Old town roads paved with bluestone bricks, houses painted in pastel colors, and local woven crafts displayed on street corners. Walking shots capture dynamic scenes with a vintage, exotic film vibe. 5. Mountain sightseeing train window views🚞 The train passes through valleys, dense forests, and streams. The flowing mountain and village scenery outside the window offers a healing natural atmosphere throughout the journey. 🍲Local food recommendations 1. Ceviche Peru’s signature dish. Fresh fish marinated in lime juice, chili, and onion. It’s tangy and refreshing, perfect for the hot coastal weather. Authentic flavors can be found in small coastal old town shops. 2. Quinoa chicken soup A highland specialty hot soup made with quinoa, potatoes, and chicken slow-cooked together. A bowl after arriving in the highlands warms the stomach and helps relieve altitude discomfort. 3. Purple corn refreshing drink A sweet drink made from boiled purple corn. Served chilled, it’s sweet and cooling. Available at markets and street eateries, perfect for hydration and cooling during outdoor walks. 4. Potato cheese pie An affordable street snack with a crispy crust filled with cheese and potatoes. Great for carrying along while sightseeing to satisfy hunger and provide lasting fullness. 🏡Layered accommodation guide Lima coastal residence Choose a location near the cliff coast, just minutes’ walk to the ocean trail. Some rooms have terraces facing the sea. Nearby restaurants and supermarkets make it easy to restock daily essentials. Cusco old town guesthouse Hidden in the old town’s stone-paved alleys, the building retains Inca stone wall structures. Hosts prepare traditional herbal teas to help ease altitude sickness. Just steps from markets and historic sites. Machu Picchu hot spring town inn A short distance from the mountain entrance. Rooms come with warm blankets. After hiking, soak in the hot springs to relieve fatigue. Easy morning departures to the ruins. Desert area simple cabin Located near Nasca outskirts with a spacious courtyard. Clear starry skies at night. Quiet and open surroundings ideal for watching the gobi sunset. ⚠️August–September travel tips to avoid pitfalls 1. Avoid strenuous running or overeating in the highlands. Limit long hikes during the first two days in Cusco. If feeling dizzy or weak, eat more sugar and drink warm water. Slow down your pace. 2. You can politely bargain for handmade textiles, silver jewelry, and souvenirs at ruins. Buying several items at once often gets better prices. Politely decline unsolicited offers for tours or products from street vendors. Planning your own itinerary offers more freedom. 3. Early morning fog at Machu Picchu makes trails slippery. Choose hiking shoes with good grip. Temperatures vary greatly, so bring a thick jacket for the summit. Strong winds can cause chills. 4. Do not touch or climb on ancient stone walls to protect the ruins. Ask locals politely before photographing them. 5. UV rays are very strong in coastal Lima, even on cloudy days. Bring full sun protection. Highland sunlight is even stronger. Always carry a hat, sun shawl, and high-SPF products. 6. Supplies are more expensive in mountain and desert areas. Buy drinking water, sugary snacks, and warm items in Cusco or Lima shops beforehand to save money. Buy small amounts of cooked food in hot areas and eat quickly to avoid spoilage. 7. Popular ruins get crowded at noon. To get clean photos, enter early. Strong midday light can overexpose portraits and reduce image quality. 8. When visiting local churches or traditional sites, avoid wearing sleeveless or short tops. Bring a shawl and long pants. Dress appropriately to enter smoothly. 💡Additional tips for August–September travel Plan visits to avoid peak times: coastal cities in the evening, highland ruins in the early morning, rainforests and indoor markets during brief afternoon showers. Exchange currency at official city shops after comparing rates. For intercity travel, choose reliable long-distance buses or mountain trains with good facilities and rest stops. Carry only small amounts of cash and keep valuables secure. In crowded markets and popular sites, keep backpacks in front to reduce loss risk. The highland air is dry. Carry lip balm and moisturizer. Apply skincare and hydrate regularly during long outdoor walks. Peru is truly a place that captivates at first sight. Self-guided travel requires preparation, but the joy of exploring the unknown is something tours can never offer. Save this guide and get ready to go! 🚀

In Lima, Miraflores is one of the most comfortable and scenic areas to explore — a modern district sitting right on the edge of the Pacific. The most defining feature is the coastline. High cliffs run along the ocean, with parks and walking paths on top. The most famous stretch is the Malecón de Miraflores, a long promenade where people jog, cycle, or simply sit and watch the waves crash far below. One of the most popular spots along the cliffs is Parque del Amor, known for its mosaic walls, ocean views, and sunset atmosphere. It’s a simple place, but it captures the relaxed coastal mood of the district. Miraflores itself feels modern and organized — with cafés, restaurants, shopping streets, and parks all within walking distance. It’s one of the safest and most visitor-friendly parts of the city. A bit inland, you’ll find lively areas around Parque Kennedy, where street food, artists, and nightlife bring more energy to the district. What makes Miraflores special is the balance: you can have a modern city experience while still being right next to dramatic ocean cliffs. It’s not just a neighborhood — it’s one of the best places in Lima to walk, relax, and watch the Pacific meet the city. #peru #travel2026 #lima #miraflores

Along the coast of Lima, the cliffs of Miraflores form one of the most recognizable urban coastlines in South America. A long stretch of elevated parks and pathways runs above the ocean, known collectively as the Malecón de Miraflores. From here, the city suddenly feels different — dense urban life behind you, and an endless Pacific horizon in front. The cliffs are not just for views. They’re part of everyday life. People come here to jog, cycle, walk dogs, or simply sit and watch the waves. The atmosphere is calm but active at the same time. One of the most iconic spots along the cliffs is Parque del Amor, where curved walls, mosaics, and open ocean views create a relaxed, scenic stop — especially at sunset. What makes the area special is the contrast. Below you, waves crash against the rocks; behind you, modern city life continues normally. It feels like a natural boundary between ocean and metropolis. In the evening, the cliffs become even more atmospheric. The light softens, the wind picks up, and the coastline turns into one of the best places in Lima to simply pause and watch the day end. The Miraflores cliffs aren’t just a viewpoint — they’re where Lima meets the Pacific in the most dramatic and accessible way. #travel2026 #lima #peru

Peru feels like stepping into a world where time doesn’t move in a straight line — it bends, lingers, and echoes through mountains, stone, and sky. 🇵🇪✨ There’s a quiet magic in the air here, like the land itself remembers everything. From the moment you arrive, the landscape takes over — vast deserts that stretch into silence, towering peaks wrapped in clouds, and valleys so green they feel untouched by anything except history and nature working together. Then there are the ancient places, where stone cities sit high above the earth as if they were placed closer to the heavens on purpose. Walking through them, you don’t just see history — you feel it. Every wall, every path, every terrace seems to carry stories of people who once lived in rhythm with the mountains and the sky. And beyond the highlands, life changes again — into vibrant cities full of colour, movement, and flavour. Markets bursting with energy, streets filled with music, and food that tastes like culture itself, rich and layered in every bite. But what stays with you most is the contrast. The way Peru can feel both endless and intimate, ancient and alive, powerful and peaceful all at once. It doesn’t try to explain itself — it simply exists in its fullness and lets you experience it. Peru — where the earth feels sacred, the past feels present, and every view feels like it’s been waiting for you. 🏔️🌄✨#travel2026 #naturalwonders #thingstodo

Peru is globally renowned as a gastronomic paradise 🍴 Its capital, Lima, is known as South America's premier culinary city, home to famous establishments that frequently appear in global restaurant rankings. Among them, the restaurant "Maido" took the #1 spot in "The World's 50 Best Restaurants" for 2025 ✨ One highly recommended tourist activity in Lima is taking a cooking class 🍳 I learned how to make traditional Peruvian dishes directly from a local Peruvian chef 🧑🍳 Menu ・ Causa A cold dish made of mashed potatoes seasoned with chili pepper (ají), layered with ingredients like tuna, chicken, and avocado. It's like a potato salad 🥔 Not spicy at all. ・ Lomo Saltado A soy-sauce-based dish of beef, onions, and tomatoes stir-fried over high heat. It is served with french fries and rice. ・ Ají de Gallina A dish of shredded chicken simmered in a creamy sauce made with chili pepper (ají), milk, and cheese. It is not spicy.

#cheapflightdeals I live in Chicago. Flights to Lima from ORD: $900. I drove 2 hours to Milwaukee (MKE). Same airline. Same dates. $570. Why this works: · Smaller airports have lower fees · Airlines discount "secondary markets" to compete with hubs · You can often find a cheap regional flight + international ticket for less than a direct ticket from your home airport Test this: Search flights from your nearest 3 airports. Use "multi-city" search: Milwaukee → Lima, then Lima → Milwaukee. Or Chicago → Lima, but return to Milwaukee. I saved $330. The drive took 2 hours. My hourly rate was $165. I'll take that deal every time. #FlightDeals #TravelHacks #PeruTravel #AirportHacks

Machu Picchu is one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, the lost Incan city perched at 2,430 meters above sea level. It's often called a place of power, and after visiting it myself, I completely understand why. Getting here isn't easy: there's surprisingly little info online, and all-inclusive guided tours will set you back anywhere from $500 to $1,000 per person. But I found a way to do it on the cheap without missing out on the adventure! Here's my experience 👇 🚶♂ How to get to Machu Picchu on your own 1⃣ Buy a ticket - only on the official Peruvian government website (machupicchu gob pe). The price is ≈ $60. Tickets are personalized, so you'll need your passport. Pro tip: book the 06:00 AM entrance. It gives you the chance to catch the sunrise and explore without the massive tourist crowds. We booked "1-Panoramico - Ruta-1C," and at 6 AM, the place was completely empty, letting us roam the entire site freely. 2⃣ Fly to Cusco - flights from the capital, Lima, start at $35. 3⃣ Spend the night in Cusco - it's a gorgeous colonial city. Hotels start at $15. You can crash here for the night or head straight out. 4⃣ Cusco → Hydroelectric station (Hidroeléctrica) - take a bus or minivan (≈7 hours, but the drive is incredibly scenic). Prices start at $15 (12Go or RedBus are great for finding tickets). 5⃣ Hike 12 km to Aguas Calientes — it’s about a 3-hour walk along the river and the train tracks. The trail is super easy, and it's impossible to get lost. 💡 You can take the train (takes 30 minutes), but the price is definitely for big spenders — $100 one way. 6⃣ Aguas Calientes - a cozy little town right at the base of Machu Picchu. A night in a hotel starts at $15. Plus, you can find some great, budget-friendly food here: look up "Chifa" on the map (Chinese-Peruvian restaurants with huge portions for about $5). 7⃣ The climb to Machu Picchu - you can either hike up (5–10 km) or take the bus ($12 one way, $24 round-trip). And boom, you’ve made it! 🏔 The way back follows the exact same route... 💰 How much does it cost? I broke down a few different options, from the cheapest to the most expensive. Hardcore — $60 ticket + hiking the Inca Trail for a few days = $60 Budget — $60 ticket + $15 Cusco–Hidroeléctrica bus + hiking = $75 Normal — $60 ticket + $30 round-trip transport + $15 night in Cusco + $15 night in Aguas Calientes + $24 bus = $144 Comfort — everything in the "Normal" tier + round-trip train (+$160) = $300 Big Spender — all-inclusive tour = $500–1000 per person 🎒 What to pack A backpack, water, bug spray, sunscreen, comfortable sneakers, a hat and sunglasses, a windbreaker, light pants, some cash, your passport, a flashlight, offline maps (Organic Maps), and a translator app (Google, Spanish/English). ❗ Who is this for / not for ✅ Great for active, healthy travelers who love nature and adventure. ❌ I do not recommend this for kids under 15 or anyone with heart or blood pressure issues — the high altitude takes a serious toll. ✨ I absolutely loved this whole adventure, especially seeing Machu Picchu practically empty and soaking in its ancient vibes. ♥💬 Have you ever visited a place that truly blew your mind and inspired you? Let me know in the comments!

At the end of March, I chose to travel independently in Peru, expecting a wonderful trip, but I ended up encountering many pitfalls that made it not worth the effort. Springtime in Peru is picturesque, a blend of history, scenery, and local customs. I planned my itinerary carefully. Although Peru's peak travel season is the dry season (from May to October each year), I thought the rainforest areas during the off-season (November to April) might also be full of life and vitality, so I resolutely went ahead. I mapped out my route: on the first day, I flew from my hometown to Lima and strolled around the Plaza de Armas to soak in the history. In the following days, I traveled from Lima city to Cusco and then to the Sacred Valley, visiting places like the Maras Salt Mines and also went to Machu Picchu. Later, I toured the Sacsayhuamán ruins in Cusco, visited the alpaca village, Pisac ruins, and local markets. For the last two days, I took a bus from Cusco to Puno, cruised on Lake Titicaca, and then returned home. There were highlights during the trip, such as capturing the natural beauty of the Andes Mountains aboard a luxurious scenic train, where the panoramic skylight offered an unobstructed view of the stunning landscape. Before traveling, I prepared a checklist, arranged for a SIM card and plug adapter in advance, and carried my ID and boarding pass, keeping important documents close at hand. In this vibrant spring season, I chose clothing that balanced style and practicality, accessorized with scarves and hats. Power banks, chargers, and other electronic accessories were also essential. Peru is a captivating travel destination, from the majestic Andes Mountains to the mysterious Machu Picchu ruins, from the ancient city of Cusco to the bustling capital Lima. The country boasts breathtaking natural scenery and rich cultural heritage. For seniors, Peru’s relaxed atmosphere and slow pace of life are perfect for unwinding and enjoying peaceful moments. Besides popular spots like Machu Picchu, Peru offers many nature reserves and eco-tourism areas suitable for older travelers, such as Manu National Park and the Talamanca-Cordillera Blanca National Park, where one can admire spectacular natural landscapes. Additionally, Peru offers many culinary and wine experiences, such as tasting authentic Peruvian dishes and wine tasting, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in local culture. However, this independent trip also had its downsides. For example, visiting the rainforest during the off-season, while lively, brought some inconveniences due to weather and other conditions. Overall, Peru still has its unique charm, but this experience made me feel it was somewhat not worth the trouble. I hope everyone planning an independent trip to Peru in the future will prepare more thoroughly to avoid pitfalls like I did.

✨ Key Takeaway: Lima is generally manageable for travelers, but petty theft and taxi scams are rampant! These issues are concentrated in popular areas, airports, and markets. Solo nighttime outings carry higher risks, so take precautions to enjoy your trip with peace of mind! (We called an Uber from the airport to a nearby hostel. Since the area we stayed in wasn't a tourist zone or city center, the driver seemed a bit surprised 😲 and even reminded us to be cautious 😅.) 1️⃣ Area Safety|Choose the right place for peace of mind ✅ Safe areas (safe to explore day and night, but stick to groups or use rides at night): · Miraflores, Barranco, San Isidro: Tourist-friendly areas with plenty of restaurants and bright lighting. Many jacaranda tree spots are located here. ❌ Areas to avoid (especially at night!): · La Victoria, Calle Calle, alleys on the outskirts of the old town, and deep inside markets. For the old town (around Plaza de Armas), visit only during the day (10 AM - 5 PM) and go with companions. 2️⃣ Personal Safety|Essential anti-theft and anti-robbery measures Carry-on items: Keep wallets and phones in front pockets, inner pockets, or anti-theft pouches. Wear backpacks on your chest. Avoid wearing luxury watches or diamond jewelry. Store cameras when not in use. Separate your documents, and keep both electronic and paper copies safe. Carry originals only when necessary. Crowded places (Plaza de Armas, markets, bus stops): Avoid holding your phone up to use it and stay aware of your surroundings. Do not accept drinks or souvenirs from strangers. Using ATMs: Use them during the day and inside bank lobbies. Go with someone. Cover the keypad when entering your PIN. Avoid withdrawing large amounts of cash at once. When paying by card, keep an eye on it at all times to prevent cloning. If robbed: Do not resist! Stay calm and hand over your belongings. Afterward, note the suspect's features, report the incident to the nearest police station (emergency number: 105), and contact your consulate. 3️⃣ Transportation Safety|Avoid taxi scams and airport pitfalls 🚘🚙 From the airport: Never hail a taxi from the street! Go to the official taxi counter in the arrivals hall to buy a ticket (fixed price) or use Uber (verify the license plate and driver's name). Getting around the city: Prioritize Uber or Cabify. Alternatively, have your hotel call a licensed taxi. Agree on the fare before getting in (many taxis don't use meters). 4️⃣ Food & Health|Stay safe and healthy 🥛 Water: Do not drink tap water directly! Buy bottled water, and opt for drinks without ice unless the ice is made from bottled water. 🍜 Food: Choose busy and hygienic restaurants. Ensure seafood (like ceviche) is fresh. ☀️ Weather & Sun Protection: Lima's daytime temperature is around 20°C, but UV rays are strong, so apply sunscreen. Bring a light jacket for cooler evenings. During the rainy season, keep an eye on the weather.

Known scientifically as Jacaranda mimosifolia, these purple blossoms originate from South America, and Lima is their "hometown base." 🌍 You can spot their lush presence all over the city, creating a walking purple romance! Late autumn to early winter in the Southern Hemisphere (October to December) is the peak blooming season for jacarandas, and November is the perfect time to catch them at their best! ✨ With trees full of purple flowers swaying in the wind and petals falling to form a "purple carpet" that crunches underfoot, every street, park corner, or spot near colonial-style buildings becomes a natural photography studio.

If, like me, you only have one day to spare in Lima, you can get a good impression of what the city is about. Here's how you could spend your day: No need to get up early, like most places in Peru, Lima seems to wake up pleasantly slowly. Start in historic center to visit Basílica and Convent of San Francisco, Basilica and Convent of Santo Domingo and Casa de la Literatura Peruana. While walking, breakfast on fresh churros from one of the local vendors before popping int the (free) Museo Municipal Prehispánico. At noon, watch change of guards at Palacio de Gobierno de la República del Perú. For lunch taxi to Miraflores and eat at El Bodegón. Walk over to the pyramids of Pucllana and join the informative and entertaining guided tour of this unique archeological site. Walk to the joint Parque 7 de Junio and Parque John F. Kennedy where you can try to cuddle some for the many aloof cats enjoying their comfortable day there. Right next to the parks is the liveliest part of Miraflores. Snack on picarones in the park, or head over to Helarte for cake, pancake or waffles; but be aware that the portions are massive. For the evening, taxi to Barranco. Stroll down Bajada de Baños for a sunset view from the mirador at the bottom. Coming back up buy your souvenir from one of the local handicraft stalls before admiring the murals at Puente Montero Bernales. Have your dinner at Pan Sal Aire and chase it with fantastic ice cream at Blu Gelateria. #historicallandmarks#deliciousfood#历史古迹

In Lima, the capital of Peru, you can start an exciting cultural and scenic journey in just a day and a half. The Lima Cathedral is a must-visit; it is the burial site of Pizarro. Inside the cathedral, there are not only rich Catholic elements but also displays of human bones and tombstones, reportedly because cemeteries had not yet appeared at that time. Cautious visitors should be careful, and if you decide to go, be sure to find an English guide. The ticket costs 30 sol and will allow you to deeply understand the stories behind it. The Government Palace of Peru has a guard changing ceremony from 11:30 to 12:00, which is grand and lively. Knights ride tall horses, as if taking you back to the 16th century when Spain colonized Peru, creating a strong historical atmosphere. The Miraflores area is suitable for spending half a day leisurely exploring and fully enjoying a relaxing time. Come to Lima and start this unique journey!

High in the Peruvian Andes, Cusco blends Inca ingenuity with Spanish grandeur. Once the capital of the Inca Empire, the city still whispers its ancient past through the remarkable 12 angled stone; a masterwork of precision masonry fitted so perfectly it needs no mortar. Above the city lies Sacsayhuamán, a vast Inca fortress whose massive walls overlook the valley like a timeless guardian. In the bustling markets, stalls overflow with colourful alpaca wool garments, while the scent of sizzling street food drifts through the air — from skewers of guinea pig (cuy) to steaming bowls of Andean soups. By night, Cusco’s lively hostels hum with music and chatter from travellers swapping tales over pisco sours. Wander into the old town and you’ll find stately Spanish colonial mansions, their ornate facades rising from foundations first laid by Inca hands. There are some brilliant bars overlooking the central Square where you can buy a Pisco Sour, one of Peru's signature drinks! Cusco is also the start point for the Inca trail - I went with Intrepid who provided an absolutely first class experience, including a tour of Cusco and accommodation in the city as part of our package. #latinamerica #peru #adventuremoments #travel #localfood #andes #inca #cathedral
