Cuenca’s Cathedral

#summervacay Right in the middle of Cuenca’s colorful Plaza Mayor, the Catedral de Santa María y San Julián is just sitting there looking like a total Gothic queen. It's one of the oldest Gothic cathedrals in Spain, and yeah, you can totally feel that epic history as soon as you lay eyes on it. The facade is all dramatic arches and stone details, with this wild mix of medieval and neogothic styles that somehow works perfectly. Step inside and gorgeous stained glass, soaring ceilings, moody lighting, and quiet corners that feel like a peaceful little escape from the world. Don’t miss the side chapels (each one feels like its own mini-museum), and if you’re up for it, head to the triforium for an awesome view over the nave and plaza. Totally worth the extra couple euros. The whole place is cozy but grand, spiritual but relaxed. Whether you're into history or just love a good wander, this cathedral is absolutely worth a stop.
