Chiang Mai: Another Day Lost (Happily!) to Temples! 🇹🇭🙏

#summervacay Well, I did it again in Chiang Mai – I couldn't resist spending another entire day exploring temples! Chiang Mai truly has an abundance of them, mostly concentrated within the Old City, with one appearing every few hundred meters. Many are built around existing stupas, which is an absolute feast for an ancient architecture and historical site enthusiast like myself. While Chiang Mai offers other activities like rafting, waterfalls, and elephant riding, I honestly wasn't very interested. So, today was another glorious day dedicated to temple hopping! Navigating Chiang Mai's Temples Many people like to map out routes for temple visits, but I don't think that's really necessary. Simply open Google Maps and search for "Wat" (my understanding is this translates to "temple"), or Baidu Maps and search for "庙" (miào), and you'll see a vast cluster of them. Then, just follow the map! There were many temples I hadn't planned to visit, but passing by in a taxi, I couldn't resist asking the driver to stop so I could take a closer look. My Must-See Temple Recommendations: I believe there are 3-4 temples that are absolutely essential to see: Wat Chedi Luang (契迪龙寺): This temple, shown in pictures 2 and 3, is a must-visit. Its massive ruined stupa is incredibly impressive. Wat U Mong (乌蒙寺): If you're visiting temples in Chiang Mai, Wat U Mong is a definite must-see. It's located a bit outside the city center and is quite large, featuring unique forest surroundings and tunnels. The Two Silver Temples (城南的两个银庙): Head south of the Old City to find these distinctive silver temples. They are truly unique and beautiful. Google Maps has plenty of shared photos from previous visitors, which can help you get a preview. For all the other temples, I suggest just going with your mood and curiosity. Don't turn it into a checklist task, as that takes away from the joy of travel. Anyway, I'm off to the next temple! #chiangmai #chiangmaitemples #watchediluang #watumong #silvertemple #thailandtravel #templehopping #ancientarchitecture #chiangmailife 🇹🇭
