Wandering Through Irkutsk’s Landmarks Like a Local

#summervacay Irkutsk might not be the first place that pops into your head for sightseeing, but it’s full of lowkey gems. I spent a chill day just wandering around and checking out some of the main landmarks, and honestly? Super worth it. I started at the Monument to Alexander III by the river, massive statue, great views of the Angara, and lots of benches to just vibe and people-watch. Then I walked over to the Epiphany Cathedral, it's colorful, peaceful, and very photogenic. The details on the building are next level. Further down, I stumbled on the White House (not that one), a fancy old building with some serious history. Oh, and the Spasskaya Church nearby is also a quiet little beauty. The streets are super walkable, with that Siberian charm: wooden houses, cute corners, and random art. Everything feels relaxed but rich with history. Irkutsk doesn’t scream “tourist spot,” but that’s exactly what makes it such a great place to explore.
