The church is home to the tombs of many historical figures, including King Ludwig II, known as the great ruler of Bavaria. It's also a popular spot associated with the Bavarian royal family. St. Michael's Church is a Catholic church built in opposition to the Protestant Reformation, which began in 1517, and completed in 1597. The Triumphant Saint statue symbolizes the victory of the Counter-Reformation. Between the marble main portal is a bronze statue of the archangel Michael fighting evil, created in 1588.
