A hidden autumn gem in Yangshuo, a beautiful October day!

To my bestie: This retirement trip to Yangshuo holds the relaxed moments we’ve been longing for. After retirement, I always look forward to a trip without rushing schedules. Meeting you at Yushan Homestay by the Yulong River in Yangshuo couldn’t be more perfect. This guesthouse feels like a home tucked in the mountains and waters, with a thoughtful location—close to the county town, just a few minutes’ walk to the Yulong River, so no time wasted on the road. The moment you enter the courtyard, you’re amazed by roses blooming along the stone path. Sitting on the rattan chair in the afternoon, sipping tea and chatting, the breeze is filled with floral fragrance; the infinity pool on the third floor is a delightful surprise—on hot days, soaking in the water while looking up at the distant verdant mountains and rolling white clouds makes even your breath feel lighter. The rooms are bright and smartly equipped. My favorite is the bathtub by the window, where you can soak while gazing at the greenery outside. The homestay also lends ethnic costumes; we wore them and took lots of photos, even the passing kids came over smiling. Every shot was stunning. In the morning, what woke us up wasn’t an alarm clock but the fragrant Guilin rice noodles downstairs. After slurping the noodles, we rented electric bikes to tour the Ten-Mile Gallery. The rice fields beside the Yulong River trail rolled like green waves. When tired, we sat by the river watching bamboo rafts drift by. Finally, we went to Xingping Ancient Town to snap a photo with the 20 RMB background. You smiled and said, “The scenery in the painting can really be stepped on.” This trip was never rushed, only comfortable and free with you. This is probably the best time after retirement.
