The most delightful thing after retirement is to take a spontaneous trip with you. October in Yangshuo is just perfect—the whole town is filled with the scent of osmanthus. We stayed at Yushan Xiangshe by the Yulong River, turning our days into poetry. This guesthouse is like a hidden treasure, with an excellent location close to the county town, just a few minutes’ walk to the Yulong River. Upon entering the courtyard, rose bushes surround the stone path. Sitting in the courtyard in the afternoon, sipping tea and chatting, the fragrance of flowers mixed with osmanthus is comforting and relaxing. The infinity pool on the third floor is a delightful surprise; on hot days, soaking in the water while gazing at the Qingdai Mountains and drifting white clouds is pure bliss. The rooms are spacious and bright with smart devices, and the bathtub by the window is a bonus—you can enjoy the mountain and water views while soaking. The guesthouse provides ethnic costumes; we changed into them for photos, and even passing children came over smiling. Every photo is full of atmosphere. In the early morning, the aroma of Guilin rice noodles from downstairs wakes us up. After slurping the noodles, we rent an electric bike to tour the Ten-Mile Gallery. The rice fields along the Yulong River trail are golden, and the breeze carries the gentle warmth of autumn.
