Yuncheng Dongcun Theater | Hometown of Tang Mingchen

|The hometown of famous officials of the Tang Dynasty. The Dongcun Stage was built in the second year of Yuan Zhizhi (AD 1322). The inner roof of the stage shrinks from bottom to top, with round beams and square beams criss-crossing in the middle, which seems chaotic but orderly. Such "suspended beams and columns" are not only beautiful, but also open, making people marvel at the wisdom of ancient craftsmen. There are stone steps more than one meter high under the stage. Walk along the stone steps on the east side to the stage. Looking up, you can see that the inside of the stage is entirely made of wooden frames, with exquisite wood carvings and simple shapes. Although it has gone through seven hundred years of ups and downs, you can still get a glimpse of the prosperous scene of the stage from its carved beams and painted buildings. The ancient architectural art that has traveled through time is always amazing. It is said that before the Tang Dynasty, this place was called Lijiazhuang. Because in the middle of the Tang Dynasty, a sage named Dong Jin (also known as Huncheng) came out of the village, and he rose to the rank of prime minister. He built water conservancy projects and comforted the victims, and was highly praised by the emperor and the people. He was a famous official of his generation. To commemorate his benevolence, the villagers renamed the village "Dong Village". In the past, there was a horizontal plaque on the village gate that read "Hometown of Dong Huncheng, a famous official of the Tang Dynasty."
