From the first course to the last, every dish was very well prepared and delicious. This restaurant offers very traditional Korean cuisine. Special mentions are the sea bream, beef carpaccio, red bonito, Korean grilled beef tenderloin and ginseng ice cream. We had a wonderful evening here.

According to Michelin guide, this restaurant is a 3 star restaurant. I can't say it is the best in Korea. After all, Shilla Hotel is owned by 3 star group, they may lobby for 1 or 2 stars. The restaurant has a nice view. The food is good and the service is good. But overall it really can't get 3 stars.

Very classic Korean cuisine, you can eat very authentic Korean food here. These Korean dishes are not very expensive, so we are very satisfied with the consumption of this tour group.

This restaurant is located on the top floor of the Shilla Hotel on the 23rd floor at Dongdae Station. The 2017 Michelin Guide Seoul won 3 stars and was also selected in the 2017 Asia's 50 Best Restaurants list. This restaurant also won the only three-star restaurant in the Ctrip Food Forest 2017 list. The predecessor of this restaurant was the Korean set meal restaurant Sorabol in the Shilla Hotel, which was closed in 2005. It was closed for 9 years! In 2013, the upgraded Korean restaurant "Rayan" was reopened. At that time, the management of Shilla was also unusual, because there were about 17 5-star hotels with Korean restaurants at that time, but only 4 were left that year. The reason why they were so tough was that the president of Shilla Hotel, the eldest princess of Samsung Group, Lee Boo-jin, strongly promoted and supported the opening of this high-end Korean restaurant. The restaurant chef Kim Sung-il himself has nearly 30 years of experience in Korean cuisine, and the team has also recruited the best Korean chefs in the Korean hotel industry. In order to completely change the problems of Korean food or Korean set meals, such as the unrefined presentation of dishes, the single seasoning of dishes, the lack of dining ritual, and the low quality of traditional Korean wine in dining. Chef Jin Chengyi led the team to develop and cook traditional Korean food from the palace and the clan based on the 500-year-old Korean food recipe book [Xuyun Zafang] using modern innovative cooking techniques. In traditional palace Korean food, maintenance and nourishing dishes account for a large proportion, and the same origin of medicine and food is also one of the compulsory subjects for traditional Korean food masters. Luo Yan only uses wild or organic agricultural green ingredients from Korea to develop dishes. The restaurant environment is elegant and noble, spacious and bright. From the perspective of catering professionals, the lighting, temperature, decoration, color matching, table spacing and other details are basically the most ideal state of Fine Dining Restaurant. The service girls dressed in black and white formal clothes are also beautiful and outstanding, and they are responsive to service. From the restaurant, you can overlook the scenery of Nanshan. Tableware and utensils are mainly made of white porcelain and copper, which are traditional and elegant. There are only two options for lunch, "Li" or "Luyan" set meal. If you come to Seoul for tourism, I especially recommend that you try the different types of Korean wine that Luoyan has according to the set meal, because some of the traditional Korean wines here are not sold in the market, but are exclusively ordered by Shilla. The quality of the dishes is also excellent, with fresh "sea, land and air" ingredients, a vague sense of hierarchy, and a non-irritating taste balance, which is wonderful! Among them, the seasonal raw beef bibimbap is so delicious! Vegetables, meat, rice and sauces are mixed together, with a three-dimensional taste and a balanced and harmonious taste like yin and yang and the five elements. I can't help but immerse myself in this bite of bibimbap, and I'm addicted! Overall, this is a high-end Korean set meal restaurant with impeccable dishes, environment and service. The famous and historical palace cuisine restaurants in the Korean food industry, such as Samcheonggak, Longshuishan, Seokpolang, etc., although they are under the banner of adhering to tradition, the quality of the dishes is getting worse and worse, and there is no innovation. Luoyan not only retains the traditional Korean cuisine of the royal family, but also keeps pace with the times. Friends who want to experience top-notch Korean set meals can definitely change their inherent impression of Korean food by choosing here.

Exquisite food and utensils, light taste, good service, we all like it, it is worth a visit. We each ordered a 230,000 yuan set meal, which is large enough for an adult and a child to share.

The setting is serene and luxurious, with only a few tables to spread out. I like quiet and calm- it was mostly just the food and the view. The service exceeded expectations and was hot, polite, attentive, helpful, and generally impeccable. I wanted to try a glass of Korean wine for my first few courses, and my server recommended a glass from the list of fermented Korean drinks. It was amazing and really special. I highly recommend trying at least one glass from that list. I then ordered a glass of champagne, and finished off my last few courses with a glass of Pinot Noir which was so delicious. Even wrote down my name in hopes of finding it when I return. I know a little bit about wine, and I was impressed with the wine list in general- if I come back here with others I'll be eager to try a few bottles. The food was excellent! Each dish was well-balanced, well-seasoned, creatively flavored and presented, and the presentation was excellent from start to finish. It's hard to fault many, but my favorites were the small piece of ginger marinated beef/rice (heavenly) and the cinnamon/ginger marinated beef dessert (incredibly unique and flavorful). There wasn't even a lack of flavor and excitement in this dish. My only (very minor) complaint was that the main course was too much food- I couldn't even finish half and left it a bit too full for me. Overall it was an exquisite experience and one I won't forget anytime soon! It is expensive but since it is Michelin star level the expense is necessary. Highly recommended.

It was my last trip to Seoul in 2018, so I booked the last rice meal of my trip to Seoul at Luoyan. The environment of the restaurant is very quiet. You can see the Namsan Tower outside the window. I chose the slightly more expensive set meal and ordered a 6-course Korean wine set meal. Of course, I can't praise the meal much. It is a creative cuisine with strong Korean characteristics. Let's talk about the 6 Korean wines. Wow~ It's very exciting! Especially the small cup of white wine in the 5th course, it was so spicy that I couldn't drink it, hahaha~ It was directly replaced with Western sweet wine. The manager also apologized for a long time for the "mistake" recommendation of the wine set meal. In fact, I was also embarrassed. After all, I am also a white wine lover in China. Who knew... it was so spicy...

As expected, it is a Michelin three-star hotel, and it lived up to expectations. Compared with small restaurants, what you eat here is service and quality. You can order it in one go even if you call to make an order. The food is carefully prepared, and the food presentation is beautiful and delicate, breaking the traditional Korean one-pot cooking. The restaurant is very quiet, the surrounding landscape is nice, and the beef is delicious. It is really not a lie. The service introduction is very detailed and professional, worthy of the price.
