Cochem Castle
The Cochem Castle that towers over the town of Cochem on the Moselle River today is not the original 12th-century castle. The original castle was destroyed in 1689 by troops led by the King of France. It remained a ruin for the next 180 years, until a wealthy businessman from Berlin decided to buy the ruins and rebuild it in 1868. It's a long hike to get to the bridge but it's totally worth it as it's a beautiful walk, the bridge is thrilling and you will find a seating area with tables where you can have a nice picnic as well.You can get with the car as close as possible to reduce your hike, but I definitely recommend the hike.The bridge can be scary for people with fear of heights but if you walk slow you can enjoy it and feel safe.
