Zhagana, also known as Zhagala, is located in Diebu County, Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. It is a small Tibetan village surrounded by a circle of pretty cliffs. It has beautiful and magical scenery and is one of the most beautiful places in the entire Gannan Tibetan area. The ancient wooden Tibetan houses in the village are built along the mountain, and the locals work quietly and simply between the hillsides and rivers, forming a beautiful pastoral scenery. Whether you want to sightsee, take photos, or visit the traditional life of the simple Tibetan people, this is a wonderful place that you cannot miss. Zhagana is located in the valley of Yiwa Township, Diebu County. It takes about 1 hour to drive from Diebu County and about 2 hours from Langmusi. Zhagana is suitable for visiting in July and August, when the grassland is green and the scenery is beautiful. Most tourists come from Langmusi when they take the Gannan-Sichuanbei route. The usual time to visit is to arrive in the afternoon of the same day and take a leisurely stroll in the village to enjoy the beautiful scenery. Stay in a Tibetan homestay for one night, and leave the next morning after taking pictures of the early morning clouds and sunrise. In addition, there is a two-day hiking route in the back mountain of Zhagana, where you can rent a horse in the village or walk there. Zhagana Village is divided into four small villages, from bottom to top, they are Dongwa Village, Yeri Village, Dari Village and Daiba Village. Dongwa Village and Daiba Village are about 5 kilometers apart, and there is a winding road connecting the four villages. You can walk or drive to visit and take photos one by one. It takes about 1 hour to walk from the bottom to the top. Driving in from the entrance of the village, the first place you arrive at is Dongwa Village at the foot of the mountain. There is a big stone here called Dashimen. The small hillside next to Dashimen is a good place for taking photos. Here you can look up and take pictures of the beautiful scenery of the village built along the mountain. The back of the village is wrapped by cliffs, and there is a Tibetan Buddhist temple on the top of the village. The scenery is fantastic and beautiful. Dongwa Village has a large population and is also a good place to stay. You can book a stay at a farmhouse here, and then walk or drive to several higher villages to play. It takes about 1 hour to walk to the higher place. Going up the mountain along the road, you will reach Yeri Village. Next to Yeri Village is a vast barley field where you can often see Tibetans busy in the fields. The scene is peaceful and simple. In addition, there is a house in Yeri Village where the famous traveler Joseph Locke once lived for more than a year, but now it can only be visited from the outside. Continue to go up, after passing Dari Village, there is a viewing platform with a wide view, suitable for taking bird's-eye views of the whole village. You can see the whole village and the fantastic rock wall behind. All the houses are old wooden roofs and earthen walls, which look simple and peaceful. Under the cliff, they form a beautiful picture scroll, which is also a wonderful place to take good photos. After taking the panoramic view, you can go back to Dongwa Village for accommodation. Daiba Village is relatively remote and there are fewer scenery to see, so you can skip it. In addition to taking photos in the afternoon, there are many other things to look forward to in Zhagana. Every morning, there are almost clouds and mists between the rock walls on the mountain, and the starry sky is beautiful and brilliant at night when the lights are off, which are good opportunities for taking photos. If you have enough time, you can also take 1-2 hours to climb the back mountain of Dongwa Village to see the temple on the top of the mountain. The houses you pass by along the way are all ancient buildings, and the wooden wedge-rivet structure is even more ancient and peculiar. If you are lucky, you can meet kind locals and be invited to their homes to taste traditional food such as tsampa butter tea and experience the simple enthusiasm of the locals. In addition, there is a two-day hiking route behind the village, which leads to the rarely visited lakes and stone forests with pristine and beautiful scenery. However, this route is only suitable for outdoor enthusiasts and requires camping for one night. When walking this route, you can rent a horse in the village and find a horseman to lead the way. Generally, a horse costs about 150 yuan a day.Diebu · 19.3 km from downtown

Lazikou is a transliteration of the Tibetan language, meaning "a dangerous mountain pass". This is a very dangerous canyon pass on the Ganchuan Ancient Road and the current Mindai Highway. Coming from the Tibetan area of snow-capped mountains and grasslands, crossing Lazikou is a plain Han area. Lazikou is surrounded by towering mountains, the gorge is as sharp as a knife, the Lazikou River rushes out of the gorge, and the two cliffs are densely forested. It is really a dangerous place where "one man guards the pass and ten thousand men cannot open it". On September 16, 1935, the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army entered the Lazikou area during the Long March. Through frontal assault and climbing cliffs and outflanking tactics, after fierce and bloody battles, at dawn on the 17th, they broke through the natural barrier guarded by heavy troops in one fell swoop, opening the Red Army's passage to the north to Shaanxi and Gansu.Diebu · 65.4 km from downtown

Tibetan Costume Experiences in Gannan

Tibetan Costume Experiences in Gannan

In the far northwest border, Gannan is like a lost pearl, emitting a mysterious and charming light. Put on Tibetan clothing and start a unique pastoral journey on the grassland. Buddhist country with rich heritage, Tibetan clothing treasures:Gannan, Tibetan Buddhism culture is prosperous, and Tibetan clothing has accumulated thousands of years of heritage here. Its Tibetan clothing strictly abides by traditional regulations, the fabric texture is heavy, and the warmth is good to resist the bitter cold of the plateau. The decoration is unique and ingenious, with auspicious religious patterns, such as the Eight Treasures, to show piety. Grassland scenery, Tibetan costumes add color: Wearing Tibetan costumes, galloping on the grassland, the green sea and colorful robes dance together, and the heroic spirit is overflowing; standing quietly in front of Labrang Monastery, the red walls and golden roofs set off the Tibetan costumes, which are simple and elegant, and the sense of history is overwhelming. There is also the Gahai Lake, where Tibetan costumes blend with the lake and mountains, showing the ethereal beauty, and there are scenes everywhere for taking photos. Skillful craftsmanship, immersive enjoyment:Local makeup artists in Gannan are well versed in the essence of Tibetan clothing, creating traditional makeup, appropriately smudged highland red, and twisted up characteristic hair to restore the classic charm. The photography team is a light and shadow catcher, skillfully using the grassland sunrise and the temple glow, with grassland, temples and lakes as the background, accurately freezing the amazing moment of the interweaving of Tibetan clothing and Gannan style. Coming to Gannan to experience Tibetan clothing is like opening a door to the mysterious Tibetan customs, and indulging in the charm of the blend of faith and nature.China · Diebu

Located in Gansu Province, the Rock Observation Deck is a tourist destination known for its magnificent natural scenery. The observation deck is located on a high ground, offering a good view of the surrounding mountains and canyons, and is an ideal place to enjoy the sunrise and sunset. The natural scenery here varies with the seasons, with lush greenery in spring and summer, and another kind of desolate beauty in autumn and winter. The design of the observation deck fully considers the viewing experience of tourists, with safety guardrails and rest areas for tourists to stop and appreciate and take pictures. For tourists who like photography, this is a good place to capture the beauty of nature, especially in the early morning or evening, when the light and shadow are intertwined and the scenery is particularly moving. In terms of transportation, the Rock Observation Deck is a certain distance away from nearby cities, and tourists are advised to drive there by themselves so that they can arrange their visit time more flexibly. In general, the Rock Observation Deck is a good place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and get close to nature.Diebu · 19.9 km from downtown

Zhagana is unbelievably beautiful! Surrounded by rocky mountains, the Tibetan village is shrouded in mist in the mornings, like a thin veil draped over it. Standing on the viewing platform, you can see terraced fields stretching out, with yellow rapeseed flowers and green barley, set against the backdrop of shimmering snow-capped peaks in the distance—every snapshot is wallpaper-worthy. The air is filled with the scent of grass and cooking smoke, and yaks graze leisurely. It's so relaxing, you won't want to leave!

Fairy Beach is the jewel of the Zhagana Scenic Area. Some say it resembles Xinjiang, others say it resembles Switzerland, but in my opinion, Fairy Beach is unlike any other; it is uniquely beautiful. Here, you can leave behind all worldly troubles, experience a Tibetan homestay, watch a sunrise or sunset, or enjoy the novelty of travel photography, completely immersing yourself in a fairytale world that seems like a fairyland.

Standing before the Lazikou Battle Memorial Monument, gazing up at the monument, I was deeply moved. This was not only a formidable pass, a natural stronghold where "one man could hold off ten thousand," but also a crucial turning point in the Red Army's Long March. In September 1935, with astonishing courage and wisdom, the Red Army soldiers launched a frontal assault combined with a flanking maneuver along the cliff face, fighting a bloody battle for two days and nights, finally breaking through the Kuomintang army's heavy blockade and opening a vital passage for their northward march to resist the Japanese. The scenic area perfectly blends the rugged natural canyon with the profound history of the revolution. Strolling along the Lazikou River, looking at the narrow 8-meter-wide pass and the towering cliffs, one can almost hear the sounds of gunfire and shouts from that time. The monument, battle sites, and memorial hall silently recount that glorious era, allowing one to deeply appreciate the hard-won victory of the revolution.

The scenery is magnificent, with different views at different times of day. In the early morning, there is a thin mist, at noon you can appreciate the clear texture of the stone city and the fluttering prayer flags, and at dusk you can see the golden sunset over the mountains and the wisps of smoke rising from the chimneys. Every scene is like a poem or a painting.

This is the most representative light hiking route in Zhagana!!! There is no sign at the entrance of the scenic spot. Go down at the top of a big bend and there is a parking lot next to it. Don't listen to the unprofessional explanations of some online guides. This gully is a through loop. Once you enter, you can choose between the left and right directions. There is nothing to worry about. You can go either way. There are no forks in the road. Just walk boldly along the mountain road. It takes a total of 5.5 kilometers to walk around. The cumulative elevation increase is about 400 meters. The highest point is 3,350 meters above sea level. The scenery is very spectacular. The altitude back pressure is not great. It is much easier than the Yubeng Shen Waterfall Line. If you can't walk the whole way, it is recommended to go to the left. There is a plank road with a normal slope. You can turn back after walking 2 kilometers at the canyon waterfall. If you continue to move forward, please pay attention to the pair of mountains on the right side of Figure 2. The highest point of the wooden plank road is at the foot of the left peak. If you go to the right, you will start to climb the mountain, which is slightly steep. The difficulty is about the same as the last kilometer of the Yubeng Waterfall Line. If you want to see the magnificent stone mountain, you can choose to go to the right. Note that there is a small cement platform with a wooden railing before reaching the top. Just step over it and you can walk.

Standing on the Rock Observation Deck, it feels like being in a beautiful dream. In front of you, the beautiful scenery of Zhagana unfolds like a poem and a painting. The rolling mountains are like the gentle backbone of the earth, looming under the caress of the clouds, like a fairy in gauze, with a mysterious and charming charm. The morning sun penetrates the clouds, casting golden light, giving the green grass and the scattered Tibetan villages a layer of gold, like a silver ribbon, outlining a smart line on the earth.
