Reviews: [9-person group] Kyoto + Nara + Uji day trip: Cute deer/Kiyomizu-dera Temple/Fushimi Inari

My husband, my 12-year-old son, and I took this family tour. We booked a hotel pickup and drop-off. The driver, who also served as a guide, spoke Chinese and English and sent information about the site, attraction, meeting point, and geolocation via messenger before each attraction. Thank you so much for that! There were five of us in the group, two Chinese and three Russians, and he sent us information in both English and Russian. I highly recommend this tour! The itinerary was well-planned, and there was enough time to visit each attraction. The 10 hours flew by. It's convenient that the group is small, so you practically don't have to waste time waiting and getting ready, as you would with a larger group. Thank you so much for a wonderful, educational, and emotionally charged day!

Reviews: 1-day tour from Osaka to Kyoto Uji × Senbon Torii × Katsuo-ji - popular Kansai attractions pilgrimage

Our tour guide, Abu, was incredibly professional! Today, we took the wrong exit while visiting Byodoin Temple and missed reaching the shopping street. Seeing this, our guide kindly led us back to the shopping street; we were so grateful for his help. The tour bus driver was also very polite and drove smoothly, making our trip very comfortable.

Reviews: Kyoto & Uji Day Tour | Kinkaku-ji & Kiyomizu-dera & Ninen-zaka & Sannen-zaka & Byodo-in & Uji River & Matcha Gourmet Street & Monkey Shrine & Statue of Murasaki Shikibu

This day tour was a fantastic choice for our family of six! Meeting at 7:50 AM in Nipponbashi, Osaka, was incredibly convenient. We visited Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavilion), Kiyomizu-dera, Sannenzaka, and also Byodo-in Temple, Omotesando (the main approach to Japan), and Uji Shrine – a rich and diverse itinerary. What touched us most was our tour guide, Joy, who took impeccable care of us throughout the trip! Joy not only provided clear and detailed explanations in Chinese but also enthusiastically helped us take beautiful family photos – her photography skills were superb! Furthermore, Joy generously recommended must-try local foods and Uji matcha, ensuring we enjoyed authentic and delicious meals. She was incredibly patient with both the older members and the children, making our family trip safe and enjoyable. A huge thank you to Joy for giving us such wonderful memories! If any friends or family are planning a trip to Kansai, I will definitely recommend Joy's tour! 👍

Redeeming tickets is smooth and simple; you can exchange them for physical tickets at the airport's automatic ticket machines! You can reserve two reserved seats on the Haruka Limited Express, making round trips between the airport and Kyoto/Osaka extremely convenient. While limited to Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe, and Nara, a 5-day wide-area tour is recommended for those wanting to travel further afield.

Reviews: Osaka departure [lazy route] Nara deer interaction + Uji matcha tasting + Japanese-style healing

We were incredibly lucky that the group of 49 we booked only had 6 people left! Our driver, Mr. Wang Weibing, kept telling us stories about the surrounding areas on the way to Nara and Uji. We could also negotiate the time at each stop, probably because there were so few of us and things weren't as strict. And when we arrived in Uji, we went straight back to our hotel in Tokyo. The driver dropped us off at a nearby station that served direct trains, and he didn't even meet us at the designated meeting point; he just picked us up! Small group, yay! 👏

Reviews: 1-day tour to Kyoto, Nara and Uji | Nara Park, Byodoin Temple, Fushimi Inari and Tōdai-ji
Guest User2026-08-31
It was rare to find a tour departing from Kyoto that also included Uji and Nara, saving me the hassle of finding my own way around, and the price was very reasonable! They even run during the off-season, so there were fewer people, and some of the tour members spoke English. But our guide, Cali, took excellent care of everyone, explaining things to the Chinese-speaking members once and then to the English-speaking members, basically providing introductions throughout the entire trip. She answered random questions from passengers fluently in both Chinese and English (I initially thought she spoke ABCs, then JBCs, but it turned out she spoke all the languages she had learned…). When I had a minor health issue at one point, Cali responded promptly and helped me out – so heartwarming! The driver had a great smile and proactively helped me with my luggage.
