Chengdu Museum is located on the west side of the city center, covering an area of approx. 17 acres with a total floor space of approx. 65,000m² and exhibition space of approx. 20,000m². The main building consists of south and north wings: the south wing's above-ground floors primarily house offices and research areas, while the basement level contains an auditorium (multi-function hall). The north wing mainly features exhibition areas, with the ground floor housing the lobby, screening room, and special exhibition hall. The basement level presents the "Man and Nature" thematic exhibition. Floors 2–3 showcase "Flourishing Chengdu - Ancient History and Culture of Chengdu," floor 4 displays modern history and folk customs, and floor 5 features the Chinese Shadow Puppetry and Marionette Exhibition. The museum boasts a collection of nearly 200,000 artifacts, forming a comprehensive chronological sequence from the Neolithic Age to the Republic of China period. Wenshu monastery is located in Qingyang district. Originally built during the Sui dynasty and rebuilt during the Kangxi reign, it was renamed Wenshu monastery. The monastery houses over 300 Buddhist statues of various sizes, crafted from diverse materials including iron, gauze-covered clay, wood, stone, and clay. Among them is a precious jade Buddha statue from Myanmar. The temple complex features five grand halls - the Hall of the Three Great Scholars, the Mahavira Hall, the Dharma Hall, and the Scripture Depository - connected in sequence, seamlessly integrated with the bell tower, dining hall, and corridor houses on the east and west sides. Combined with other structures, they form an enclosed quadrangle courtyard. The compound also houses a teahouse and a distinctive vegetarian restaurant called "Xiangzhai Hall," making it a beloved leisure spot for local residents. In addition, the monastery houses numerous precious paintings and calligraphic works from the Ming and Qing dynasties. The most renowned include the "Konglin" plaque bestowed upon Wenshu Monastery by Emperor Kangxi in 1702, as well as Kangxi's transcription of the Song Dynasty calligrapher Mi Fu's "Sea Moon" scroll. Other Buddhist artifacts include the parietal bone of Tang Dynasty monk Xuanzang, Indian palm-leaf manuscripts, and gilded sutra cases from Tang Dynasty Japan. However, as these are precious cultural relics, they are rarely seen by outsiders. The street in front of Wenshu Monastery, now developed as Wenshu Fang known as the "urban zen forest," features uniformly designed antique-style buildings where many snack stalls continue to operate.Chengdu · 39 km from Guanghan

Longju Temple is one of the provincial cultural relics protection units in Sichuan Province. It is located in Longju Village, Xinfeng Town, Guanghan City, on the north bank of Qingbai River, 8 kilometers south of Luocheng Town. According to legend, it was founded by Zen Master Mazu Daoyi, the eighth generation of Zen Buddhism in the Tang Dynasty. Today, the whole temple covers an area of more than 40 acres, the hall is spacious and grand, the gardens are lush and green, and the ancient cypresses outside the mountain gate are lined up, which is more profound and elegant. The nave was built in the 12th year of the Ming Dynasty, and there are 86 square meters of murals in the Ming Dynasty preserved in the hall. The content is the Buddhist Twelve Yuanjue, 72 monks and their supporters. The brushwork is dexterous, the characters are solemn and beautiful, and the characters are lifelike. Mr. Zhang Daqian praised when he copied: " There is a great legacy of Dunhuang", which is a treasure of Sichuan Ming Dynasty folk painting art. Since the 1980s, the mountain gate has been rebuilt, and the Luohan Hall has been built. The temple architecture has been improved day by day. There are still thirteen-story Huguo stupa, Tallinn, and a large Buddhist music square still under construction. Every year on New Year's Eve, February, June, and September 19 of the lunar calendar, large-scale Buddhist cultural activities are held in Longju Temple, and the scene is quite lively.Guanghan · 6.6 km from downtown

Chengdu Happy Valley

4.8/5
19.2k reviews
Chengdu Happy Valley is a large modern theme park consisting of themed zones such as sunshine harbor, happy times, starlight town, Caribbean cyclone, magic castle, magic forest, and Silk Road legend. It offers both thrilling rides and family-friendly experiences, enough for a full day of fun. The entrance's sunshine harbor zone kicks off with a welcome song and dance, where cartoon characters like ant elves and clowns interact with visitors, leading everyone into the kingdom of joy. The park covers a large area with numerous attractions, making it hard to experience everything in one day. We recommend planning your route by zone and prioritizing popular roller coasters upon entry. Most thrill rides require a minimum height of 1.4 m, so families with children may check in advance. If visiting in summer for water rides, don't forget to bring a change of clothes. Nearby entrance Sunshine Harbor is the entrance to Happy Valley. Walking along the glass corridor with a wooden frame structure, you'll see roadside welcome ceremonies featuring various cartoon characters loved by children, leading everyone into the palace of joy. Pass through the Sunshine Harbor area and walk along the right-hand side to reach the Happy Times zone. Here you'll find the Sky and Earth Twin Towers, which simulate a spacecraft launch, as well as the Energy Storm, where you can experience the dual thrills of revolution and rotation. Continue forward to the Caribbean whirlwind zone: This is a world of water. Various water entertainment elements are gathered in the water park, including wave pools, giant funnels, water playgrounds... Northern area At the northern end of the park lies the Bashu area, a themed zone inspired by the ancient vanished kingdom of Yufu. You can ride the "Snowy dragon" as it winds through ancient Shu watchtowers, or experience the thrill of fishing in rapids during the "Fishing rafting" activity. The flight island area in Happy Valley is a secluded paradise surrounded by water on all sides, featuring an observation deck that can ascend mid-air like a giant arm lifting visitors to great heights. Family-friendly area The magic castle and happy times zone in the valley are family-friendly areas featuring playful attractions like the magic star park and happy planet. If visiting without kids, head straight to the starlight town zone for the thrilling "cloud soaring dragon."Chengdu · 36.9 km from Guanghan

Duan's Grand Courtyard, also known as Duan's Old Evil Forest, is located in Gaoping Town, Guanghan City, 2 kilometers away from Sanxingdui Ancient Ruins Cultural Tourism Area. The Duan Family Courtyard is an ancient courtyard that reflects the style of traditional residences in western Sichuan. It was built in the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. At that time, the Duan clan entered Sichuan from Huguang and settled down here, and built the Duan Family Courtyard. At that time, the environment here was very good, with many trees and wide forests, attracting many birds to settle down, among them, there were many old scorpions, so it was called "Duan's old scorpion forest". At the end of the last century, the descendants of the Duan family rebuilt the "Duan Family Courtyard" on the former site of Laohu Forest. It lasted for six years. , don't have fun. The Zhiguang Building in the courtyard is more than 10 feet high, and the building overlooks the Western Sichuan Plain, with a field of view of more than 100 miles. The buildings of the Duan Family Courtyard use traditional building materials such as wood, blue tiles, slate, and earth paint. There is also an exhibition hall of ancient residential appliances in the compound, which was built by the descendants of the Duan family to collect old furniture in western Sichuan.Guanghan · 8.5 km from downtown

Kuanzhai Alley

13.7k reviews
Kuanzhai Alley is a well-preserved ancient block from the Qing Dynasty in Chengdu. Originally part of the old Manchu city where Eight Banner soldiers and their families lived, it now consists of three parallel old streets—Kuan Alley, Zhai Alley, and Jing Alley—along with their courtyard houses. With gray brick walls and varied gate designs, the area blends the charm of Sichuanese residential courtyards with the layout of northern hutongs. Each alley has its own character: Kuan Alley embodies "leisurely living," with old teahouses, hotpot restaurants, and private Sichuan cuisine spots tucked away in courtyards; Zhai Alley represents "slow living," featuring cafes and bookshops converted from traditional houses; Jing Alley focuses on "new living," with relatively fewer crowds. A several-hundred-meter-long brick cultural wall, pieced together with old bricks and historical photos, showcases Chengdu's street memories and is worth a closer look. Teahouse lounging is a classic pastime here—order a cup of Mengshan yellow bud tea and listen to the elderly at the next table spinning yarns from their bamboo chairs. You can also request an ear cleaning from a "comfort ear practitioner," whose gentle techniques bring tingling relaxation, making it a must-try for many travelers. For photos, don't miss the arched gateway of "Kailu" at No. 11 Wide Alley, one of the most distinctive courtyard entrances in the area. When lanterns light up at night, bars and snack stalls buzz with energy, creating a vibrant contrast to the daytime leisure—another flavor of Chengdu to savor.Chengdu · 41.1 km from Guanghan

Chunxi Road is the fashion hub of Chengdu and a culinary hotspot. Exploring this iconic commercial pedestrian street and indulging in local delicacies is a must-do when visiting Chengdu. Chunxi Road is not just a single street, but refers to the area east of Beixin Street, south of Zongfu Road, west of Hongxing Road, north of Dongda Street, as well as Nanxin Street, Zhongxin Street and their surrounding areas. For visitors to Chengdu, missing out on Chunxi Road would be as regrettable as skipping Wangfujing in Beijing or Nanjing Road in Shanghai. On both sides of Chunxi Road, you'll find a vibrant mix of century-old shops, trendy malls, brand boutiques, and delicious snack stalls. Famous local eateries like Zhong's Dumplings, Lai's Tangyuan, Han's Steamed Buns, and Long's Wonton all have branches here. On weekends, this area also serves as a popular leisure spot for Chengdu residents. The intersection of Chunxi Road's main street is the famous Zhongshan Square, where the bronze statue of Sun Yat-sen stands. At the northern entrance, there's also a Chengdu folk-custom relief art wall carved from granite, depicting various scenes of Tang Dynasty Chengdu, including temple fairs, flower festivals, lantern festivals, and mulberry picking.Chengdu · 40.4 km from Guanghan

I happened to see a discount, suitable for parents and children, friends, and families. There are mermaid and sea lion shows on the first floor, parrot shows on the second floor, and children's tickets can also experience four different courses, play with ocean balls and slides, play with sand, watch movies on the second floor, and have a second entry. Scan the parking discount code at the entrance to park for free for 5 hours. It's affordable!

Phoenix Lake Ecological Wetland Health Theme Park is located in Phoenix Lake Tourist Scenic Area. All health sculptures in the health theme park are mainly reddish brown, and the appearance is mainly classical. There is a health theme park image sign at the entrance of Phoenix Lake Ecological Wetland Health Theme Park. There are many health sculptures containing rich health knowledge, such as the National Lifestyle Action Proposal, the Four Cornerstones, and the Three Reductions and Three Healths, in the park, which can allow the majority of residents to learn more health knowledge and skills while exercising. There is also a 2.2-kilometer-long health trail planned in the health theme park. Walking one circle is about 3,000 steps. Adults can walk two circles a day to meet the physical activity of 6,000 steps per day. The commissioning of Phoenix Lake Wetland Health Theme Park will surely play a strong role in promoting and promoting residents to improve their health literacy, advocate a healthy lifestyle, and cultivate more healthy people.

🏛️ Chengdu Museum — A Wonderful Glimpse into Chengdu’s History & CultureA really interesting place to visit while in Chengdu, especially if you want to understand more about the city beyond its famous pandas and food. 😊The museum has a great collection showcasing Chengdu’s long history, culture, traditions and development. I especially enjoyed seeing the historical artefacts and learning about how Chengdu has changed through the centuries. The exhibits are well presented and the museum is spacious, clean and easy to explore. Even though I’m not usually someone who spends a lot of time in museums, I found this visit surprisingly enjoyable and informative. It’s also a nice place to escape the heat or rain for a while and take a slower, more relaxing break from sightseeing.Definitely worth a visit if you’re interested in history and culture. A good way to appreciate the story behind this fascinating city. ❤️You can drop by if you are planning to go to Tianfu Square area or Huang Cheng mosque area as this place is only in a blink away😊

I think if you look at it from another angle, the result will definitely be different. Since you said that the incense there is very popular, I am from a nearby town, and there are hundreds of thousands of people coming here every year. Are these people not as smart as you, and not as educated as you?

Duanjia Courtyard is a historic residential building in the architectural style of the Qing Dynasty. It is located on the banks of the Yazi River and Sanxingdui in Sichuan Province. During the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, the Duan clan entered Sichuan from Huguang and lived here for generations. The simple and solemn architectural style and the rich folk customs show the wisdom and talent of the ancient working people in architectural art. The courtyard covers an area of more than 100 acres, with hundreds of houses, pavilions, winding bridges, and willows on the banks of lotus ponds, which are very interesting. The main building of the park is a typical "U"-shaped courtyard in western Sichuan, with the main house enclosing the wing room, the courtyard enclosing the small courtyard, painted buildings and carved beams, painted doors and carved windows. The interior furnishings are complete and the style is simple and solemn.

Perfect for a leisurely stroll, sampling street snacks, and experiencing Chengdu’s culture. We bought some of the tea pastry and tea leaves and shop for some panda souvenirs there. We have our lunch in one of the Sichuan cuisine restaurant in the narrow alley which the food is pretty good. There is a cat souvenir shop named Mao Mao Yao which sells lovely handmade ceramic cat product. We bought some fridge magnets before going back to our hotel.
