The Statue of Ksitigarbha, also known as the Dayuan Cultural Park, is situated in Ke Village at the northern foot of Jiuhua Mountain Scenic Spot. It is divided into the bronze statue of Ksitigarbha, the inner and outer Mingtang Square, and the Xiaoxitian Scenic Spot. Surrounding the Statue of Ksitigarbha are white marble lotus flowers and azure stone walls with the bottom of the Buddhist pond paved with a gold mosaic. There are also a variety of valuable tree species planted in the vicinity, such as Cinnamomum Camphora and Mexican Mulberry. The ingenuity of the bronze statue lies in how it is angled. The back of the bronze statue faces east and the front faces west, with the Lion Peak in its background. Looking at the statue face on when the sun rises, one will be treated to glowing rays shining in all directions.Qingyang · 12.2 km from downtown

Built in the Zhenyuan Period of the Tang Dynasty, Roushen Temple was destroyed and rebuilt multiple times. It is the essence of Jiuhua Mountain and a must-go destination for anyone visiting the mountain. Jin Qiaojue (Ksitigarbha) was buried here. According to Buddhist doctrine, Jin Qiaojue was buried in a jar after his death. Three years later, the monks built the tower around the jar and built the temple on the tower column. Hence, Roushen Temple "has a tower in the temple, a jar in the tower and a body in the jar."Qingyang · 18.7 km from downtown

Huatai Viewing Platform is located inHuatai Scenic Area, an excellent place to enjoy natural scenery. The magical "Sleeping Buddha" is located in Huatai. Because it resembles the Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva—whose name means "patient and immovable like the earth, deep and secret like a storehouse"—it is vivid and fitting, and is regarded by believers as a manifestation of the Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, known as "Ling" (spirituality). Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva oversees great vows. Entering Huatai is like seeing the "Buddha's face," and tourists and pilgrims flock here to express their wishes. Many peaks and attractions in the scenic area also carry magical legends and beautiful meanings, such as "Dagufeng," "Zhongfeng," "Huixianfeng," "Fomen," "Jieshi," and "Jixiangsong." Huatai Scenic Area is known as "the most beautiful place in Mount Jiuhua"! It is the embodiment of natural elegance. Every year from April–June is the season when the mountain flowers bloom, earning it the reputation of the "Flower Market in the Sky"! The mountain flowers are mostly alpine rhododendrons, with wild orchids, cherry blossoms, and wisteria also present. In summer, besides being cool, if you are lucky, you will see the unique Huatai sea of clouds. The vast area to the east resembles the East China Sea, and the intersection with the Baisui Mountain Range to the west forms a natural Huatai Port. The "Autumn Colors of Huatai" is also a beautiful landscape in Mount Jiuhua, a paradise for photography and painting. A glance or a captured moment is like a natural, rustic oil painting. The winter snow scenery and rime make people feel like they have traveled through time, as if constantly switching between a fairy tale and an underwater world. The scenic area's high-altitude plank road is 1.4 km long. While experiencing the different sensations brought by the elevation changes, you can also fully appreciate the spirituality and elegance of Mount Jiuhua. Hence the travel guide: "Pray for blessings at Mount Jiuhua, walk the Huatai."Qingyang · 17.9 km from downtown

Baisui Palace is located on Mount Jiuhua, 50 km southeast of Chizhou. It was first built during the Ming Dynasty and has been destroyed and rebuilt many times. The temple houses the mummified body of the Ming Dynasty monk Wuxia. Because he lived to be 126 years old before passing away, the temple was named "Baisui Palace." Wuxia's body has remained undecayed since he passed away and is the oldest existing mummified body onMount Jiuhua, making this temple one of the must-visit temples on Mount Jiuhua. The temple's main building features white walls and black tiles, arranged in a long, narrow, north-south orientation along the cliff, resembling a city wall. Crossing the mountain gate on the south side, there is a courtyard with an incense burner, and to the north is the Mahavira Hall. The plaque on the hall door bears the words "Imperial Gift: Baisui Palace Huguo Wannian Temple" written by Li Yuanhong. You can enter the Hall of the Mummified Body through the side door of the Mahavira Hall.Qingyang · 18 km from downtown

Tiantai Temple is a must-see on any trip. Part of Jiuhua Mountain but far away from Jiuhua Street, Tiantai Peak is an important attraction. The Dizang Temple (Temple of Ksitigarbha) on the peak was named Tiantai Temple in ancient times. Most of the Buddhists who come to Jiuhua Mountain come here to worship. The Tiantai Temple has a long history. It is said that the Ksitigarbha lived here thousands of years ago. The Dizang Temple was rebuilt in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Warlord Era, and it has been moved into the temple three times. Dizang Temple, Daxiong Hall and Wanfo Tower form a single building with no patio or courtyard.Qingyang · 19.5 km from downtown

Huacheng Temple is located on Jiuhua Mountain, a Buddhist resort 50 kilometers southeast of Chizhou City. As early as the fifth year of Long'an in the Eastern Jin Dynasty (401 AD), monks had built a nunnery here. In the early years of Tang Zhide (756 AD), Huacheng Temple was built. Jin Qiaojue (Jin Dizang), a prince of Silla (South Korea), who was believed to be the reincarnation of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, preached here. Huacheng Temple is the founding temple of Jiuhua Mountain with a long history. It is also the place of practice for Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva. Huacheng Temple is located in the center of Jiuhua Street, the base camp for food and accommodation on Jiuhua Mountain. It is very convenient to walk to it from Jiuhua Street. There are small shops next to each other on both sides of the temple. The crescent-shaped pond in front of the gate is said to be the release pond of Ksitigarbha. The white-walled and black-tiled temple and shops are reflected in the pond, which can take beautiful photos. There is a Niangniang Pagoda near the Crescent-shaped Pond. Only the pagoda base remains. It is said to be built in memory of Jin Dizang's mother. The main buildings of the temple are arranged along the central axis, with a total of four entrances, from south to north, including the Lingguan Hall, Tianwang Hall, Daxiong Hall, and Sutra Library. The first three entrances are buildings from the Qing Dynasty, and the last entrance is a building from the Ming Dynasty. The most beautiful one is the Daxiong Hall, with flowers carved on the windows, ice patterns carved on the door lintel, and gold gilded at the right position. When entering the hall, you must look up at the roof. The colorful "Nine Dragons Playing with Pearls" carvings on the caisson are artistic treasures. As a historical and cultural relic museum of Jiuhua Mountain, the courtyard corridors of Huacheng Temple are hung with paintings and calligraphy showing the landscape of Jiuhua Mountain, and cultural relics are displayed. The fine products worth seeing include: the "Avatamsaka Blood Sutra" written by the monk Wuxia of the Ming Dynasty with a needle piercing his tongue and a pen dipped in his tongue blood. The flesh of the monk Wuxia can be seen in the Baisui Palace; the huge shoes and hat worn by Jin Dizang; the bronze Diting of the Ming Dynasty, which is the mount of Jin Dizang; the imperial handwriting of Emperor Kangxi and Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty, etc.Qingyang · 18.4 km from downtown

The peaks resemble lotus blossoms, shrouded in mist and clouds; Jiuhua Mountain in the rain looks like a traditional Chinese ink painting. The Tiantai and Huatai platforms offer expansive views, and the plank roads connecting the peaks are perfect for taking photos. However, heavy fog on rainy or foggy days is a bit of a disappointment; it's recommended to visit on a sunny day for a better experience.

Being able to bring a dog on the cable car is commendable. It was very crowded that day due to the National Day holiday; we queued for an hour, but it was manageable after getting a number and exploring a bit more. There was heavy fog that day, so the scenery wasn't visible.

After entering from the north gate, the temple buildings rise in tiers, magnificent and beautiful. You need to climb steps, but they aren't very high, about the height of an 8-10 story building.

Huatai Scenic Area (main peak 1299 meters above sea level) is one of the main scenic areas of Jiuhua Mountain (Jiuhua Mountain is divided into five major scenic areas: Jiuhua Street, Min Garden, Tiantai, Huatai and Kecun Scenic Area). From a geographical point of view, Huatai is located in the center of the entire scenic area. The "natural sleeping Buddha" presented by Huatai makes the entire Jiuhua Mountain full of mystery and aura. The natural landscapes such as "Natural Sleeping Buddha", "God of Wealth Min Gong", and Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva "Borrowing Land for Robes" and other major Buddhist classic stories all come from Huatai. It is the birthplace of Jiuhua Mountain's Buddhist history and culture, and there is even a saying that "Buddha is in Huatai"

Jiuhua Mountain's Tiantai and Huatai areas are primarily natural attractions. Tiantai's highest peak houses the Ksitigarbha Sutra worship site. About 500 meters below Tiantai Peak, there's an ancient sutra worship site with the legendary giant footprints. Tiantai and Huatai are connected, and the main attractions are at the peaks. Climb to the summit to admire the magnificent peaks. Once you reach Tiantai or Huatai, there's no need to rush down. Follow the signposts and hike along the way to visit both. There are also Phoenix Pine trees 200 meters from the Tiantai cable car, which are also a must-see on the hike up Tiantai Mountain. However, the ascent is long, so it's not recommended for families. The hike takes about 2-3 hours for young and middle-aged people. I chose to take the cable car up and hike down.

The Baisui Palace Scenic Area located in the front mountain of Jiuhua Mountain includes Baisui Palace, Dongya Zen Temple, Huixiang Pavilion and other scenic spots. You can choose to take the cable car or walk to go up and down the Baisui Palace, which is more convenient. The Baisui Palace cable car is a ground track, which is very safe and fast. After going up, you can see the natural reclining Buddha, so you need to choose a sunny day to see it. If it is a rainy day, it will be blocked by clouds and fog and you can't see it directly.

Jiuhua Street is an old street with local characteristics. The characteristic here is that it is surrounded by countless temples, which makes it particularly quiet and otherworldly. There are some local goods for sale in the old street, as well as some snack bars, etc. There are not many people, which adds to its quietness.

Tiantai Temple, also known as Dizang Temple, is located on the top of Tiantai Peak in Jiuhua Mountain, with an altitude of 1,306 meters. It is not only the highest altitude in Jiuhua Mountain, but also the highest ancient temple in Anhui. Tiantai Temple is located in the depression between Tiantai Peak and Yuping Peak, facing north and south, and consists of three groups of residential palaces. The layout is very ingenious, almost integrated with the mountain.
