Legend of Concubine Yu
According to legend, at the end of the Qin Dynasty, the Chu and Han fought each other, and the Overlord of Western Chu, Xiang Yu, was defeated and surrounded by the Han army at Gaixia. Xiang Yu knew it was difficult to break through the siege, so he gave his beloved horse to Concubine Yu, hoping that Concubine Yu could survive. However, after Concubine Yu finished singing "Song of Gaixia" with tears in her eyes, she suddenly pulled out the sword from Xiang Yu's waist and committed suicide.
Later, a kind of grass grew on Concubine Yu's tomb, with soft stems and long leaves, moving without wind, as if a beauty was dancing gracefully, charming and lovely.
According to folklore, this flower was transformed by Concubine Yu, so this grass was called "Concubine Yu Grass" and its flower was called "Concubine Yu". The bright red color on the Concubine Yu flower is said to be dyed by Concubine Yu's splashing blood.
Concubine Yu blooms during the late spring and early summer, as if Concubine Yu had never left, and her loyalty and waiting for the Overlord still exist in Concubine Yu's heart.
