Sanya family trip | Day 4: which do you pick, Wuzhizhou Island or West Island? — traveler post in Cannes

Sanya family trip | Day 4: which do you pick, Wuzhizhou Island or West Island?

Day 4 The weather cooperated today, and it finally cleared up Today we're heading to Wuzhizhou Island After a day of exploring, I personally prefer Wuzhizhou Island Even casual photos turn out great ✔️6 stops 1. Ocean Star (first stop): cliffside sea views, a panoramic view of the heart-shaped islet, the popular railing and coconut weather sign, the best photo spot on the island. There's a new fruit stall photo spot, but we didn't want to climb up at the time 2. Sunrise Rock (highest point): 360° layered, glassy sea, the golden turtle reef formation, an excellent spot to watch the sunrise 3. Lover's Valley + Rainforest pet park: tropical rainforest boardwalk where you can see kangaroos and land tortoises, great for nature-style photos 4. Lover's Island: shallow, jelly-like waters; at low tide you can hunt for shells, the water is the clearest. There's a popular fruit stall but the line was too long so we didn't shoot there. The natural reef offers many photo spots, though you'll have to queue for them 5. Private custom beach: a film location with white tents, a pool, and flamingos, a popular white-sand beach 6. Lover's Bridge + seaside bathing area: play in the shallows, swim, or lounge on the beach. We rested and had lunch here at noon ✔️Seven precise photo spots in the French Riviera 📍Nice — the beach opposite the island photo studio 📍Monaco — the red lighthouse 📍Cannes — Coral Hotel lobby 📍Marseille — Ocean Star 📍Grasse — next to the kangaroos in the Rainforest pet park 📍Menton — next to the fruit stall on Lover's Island 📍Saint-Tropez — the beach opposite the seaside villa 📍 Address: Haitang District, Sanya. Navigate to Wuzhizhou Island Passenger Terminal (opposite Houhai Village) ⏰Boat schedule: · Boarding: 8:30 AM–4:00 PM (ticket checks stop at 4:00 PM; late arrivals cannot board) · Return: 9:00 AM–7:30 PM. Last boat at 7:30 PM; if you miss it you'll have to stay at the Coral Hotel on the island · Boat ride: 15–20 minutes. Rough seas can cause seasickness, so sit at the rear, take motion sickness medicine in advance, and avoid using your phone 🎫Admission + round-trip boat ticket about CNY 133; buy in advance. Student ticket CNY 68 🚗Island shuttle electric car ✅Top pick: CNY 138 City Walk hop-on, hop-off (6 stops for free boarding and alighting). It covers the key back-mountain attractions; you can't reach the protected areas by walking alone ❌Not recommended: CNY 60 sightseeing ticket, you cannot get off for the entire route, it's just a ride so you can't take photos or check in at spots

Antibes, French Riviera | Stay in a bucket-list hotel on the cape — traveler post in Cannes

Antibes, French Riviera | Stay in a bucket-list hotel on the cape

The romance of the South of France is always captivating. Discovering this dream hotel on Cap d'Antibes was the highlight of my entire trip. The hotel is located on Cap d'Antibes, in the heart of the French Riviera, with a prime location. It is close to Antibes Old Town and the Picasso Museum, and it is very convenient to drive to Nice and Cannes. Located in the popular French Riviera, it enjoys a unique tranquility, serving as a perfect sanctuary amidst the bustle. The architecture features a sleek, high-end minimalist geometric style, full of artistic design. The guest rooms are spacious and grand, each equipped with a terrace or a small private garden. Pushing open the door, the clear Mediterranean sea view greets you with a soothing, crystal-clear blue. What is even more surprising is the hotel's rich artistic atmosphere. The public areas display original works by Hockney and Matisse, making a stay here feel like visiting a private art gallery by the sea. Enjoy a private beach with lounge chairs neatly arranged. You don't have to do anything—just lounge on the beach chairs, feel the sea breeze, watch the sea, and spend the whole day. This is the perfect way to experience a South of France vacation. The hotel is extremely pet-friendly. You can bring your dog along for a seaside vacation and enjoy the Mediterranean sunset together. Guests can also borrow e-bikes for free to ride leisurely to Antibes Old Town or the town of Juan-les-Pins. Riding in the sea breeze in the morning and waiting for the sunset to dye the sea orange-gold in the evening perfectly sets the mood for the coastal scenery. Escape the city's hustle and bustle, accompanied by sea views, art, and beaches, and embrace all the relaxation and romance of the South of France.

A water utopia hidden in the south of France that makes you want to elope more than Venice — traveler post in Cannes

A water utopia hidden in the south of France that makes you want to elope more than Venice

🏷️ An architect bought a swamp and built a "Venice of Provence" South of France · Port Grimaud 🕰️ Built in 1966, a "fairytale water city" that's not even 60 years old yet 🌊 It's not Venice, but it's quieter than Venice Let me start with a number: 2,500 houses, almost every one of which is on the water. You read that right. This isn't an ancient ruin, nor did it grow naturally like a medieval fishing village—it's a blueprint drawn from scratch by an architect after he bought a salt marsh in 1962. His name was François Spoerry, and he wanted to build a "Venice of Provence" on the French Riviera. 🤩 And he actually did it. 🏗️ From swamp to 12 islands ⭐ Construction began in 1966, and it took shape by 1972. 🎈 Spoerry designed 12 islands, 14 bridges, and 6 kilometers of navigable canals. Every household has a boat parked at their door—you don't take the road to go out, you take the water. 🤔 Can you imagine? Cars are prohibited in this town. 🔇 No engine noise, no honking—only the sound of boats gliding across the water and the wind blowing against the colorful house walls. 🎨 Every house is like a painter's palette The architecture of Port Grimaud isn't "copy and paste." Ochre, pink, warm yellow, pale blue, mint green—rows of Provençal-style houses line the canals, as if someone painted them on slowly with a brush. This isn't a historical site, but it was awarded the "20th Century Heritage" title by the French Ministry of Culture. Because it's one of the few modern water city utopias in architectural history that was fully realized. 😍 🛶 Here are three things I highly recommend you do ⭐ First, rent an electric boat 🚤 No license or experience required, €25/30 mins. As you steer the boat deep into the canals, the private gardens and docks on both banks slowly drift past you. That kind of quiet is something you'll never find in Nice or Cannes. ⭐ Second, climb the 78 steps of the church ⛪. The top of the Saint-François-d'Assise church tower is the only high point from which to overlook all of Port Grimaud. The canals look like a blue net spread between the ochre roofs, with the Gulf of Saint-Tropez in the distance. ⭐ Third, catch a Thursday or Sunday morning market. Provençal markets never disappoint. Olives, honey, lavender, fresh cheese—buy some and sit by the canal to eat. This is life in the south of France. 📸 Don't rush, don't just check it off your list 🎈 Port Grimaud isn't big; you can walk through it in half a day, but it's not meant to be "finished." It's meant for sitting by the canal, drinking a glass of rosé 🍷, watching boats slowly pass by, and daydreaming until the sun goes down. If you're also tired of the hustle and bustle of the French Riviera 🌊, you'll definitely love it here. Because it's not Venice, but it's quieter, slower, and more like a dream. 📌 Practical tips Location: 7 km west of Saint-Tropez, 15-minute drive 🚗 Transportation: Private car or self-drive. There is a large parking lot outside the town 🚫 No cars: Cars are prohibited inside the town, so feel free to walk 🛶 Boat rental: €25/30 mins, no license required ⏰ Best time to visit: May–June / September–October 🎯 Suggested route: Marseille > Saint-Tropez > Port Grimaud > Nice 🎵 Music recommendation If you're looking for a song to accompany this place, I recommend "Experience" by Ludovico Einaudi. It's not an Italian folk song or a French chanson, but a piano piece that flows slowly like water. It won't "tell" the story of Port Grimaud, but it will make Port Grimaud come alive before your eyes.

In the South of France, I slowed down time by 100 times — traveler post in Cannes

In the South of France, I slowed down time by 100 times

When people mention France, they think of Paris. But if you ask a French person "Where to go on vacation," nine out of ten will tell you: the South of France. It's not that Paris is bad, but the South of France truly understands how to live. The Côte d'Azur, hills covered with lavender, cliffside stone villages, markets under the sun— Here, there’s no rushing to check off sights, only the delightful dilemma of "Which beach to daydream on today." ... 🌊 Côte d'Azur | So blue it feels unreal 🔹 Nice’s Baie des Anges, Cannes’ Palais des Festivals, Monaco’s luxury yacht harbor... 🔹 Menton — the "Pearl of France" hidden on the French-Italian border, with over 300 sunny days a year and prices only half of Nice’s. The pastel-colored old town, 99 lemon-yellow steps, and the February Lemon Festival turn the whole city into a giant citrus exhibition. 🔹 Saint-Paul-de-Vence — a medieval art village filled with galleries · 💜 Provence | Purple is just the appetizer From late June to mid-July, the lavender on the Valensole Plateau reaches full bloom. Named by National Geographic as "one of the most beautiful places in the world," 9,500 hectares of purple flowers stretch to the horizon. But Provence is far more than just purple. 🔹 The water of Lake Sainte-Croix is turquoise — rent a pedal boat and paddle into the canyon entrance, gazing up at cliffs hundreds of meters high from the water. 🔹 Aigues-Mortes has pink salt lakes where flocks of flamingos rest on the pink-and-white water. 🔹 Gordes, the stone village built on a hilltop, looks like it’s grown out of the rock. Here, you’ll find only the shadows of trees, the sound of vineyards in the wind, and the aroma of delicious food between stone houses. · 🏔️ Hidden Gems | Even the French hesitate to share 🔹 The ceramic town nestled between cliffs, known as one of the "most beautiful mountain towns," is full of painted ceramic plates and artisan workshops. 🔹 Cassis, a seaside town next to Marseille, boasts stunning turquoise fjords and white cliffs under the sun. 🔹 Porquerolles Island is a half-hour boat ride from Hyères and is a nature reserve. Perfect for snorkeling, hiking, and boating—truly far from the noise. · — 📅 When to go? · Late June to mid-July: Lavender full bloom, the South of France at its most beautiful · May-June & September-October: Fewer crowds and great weather, personally recommended · July-August: Crowded and expensive, but perfect beach weather · February: Menton Lemon Festival, the whole city turns into a giant citrus art exhibition

Go to this new landmark in southern France — traveler post in Cannes

Go to this new landmark in southern France

In the summer of 2026, the most worthwhile culinary destination on the French Riviera isn't Nice, nor Cannes, but a manor house that has slumbered for eighteen years in the Bay of Saint-Tropez. COMO Le Beauvallon has reopened, with world-renowned chef Yannick Alléno taking full charge of the hotel's entire culinary empire—from breakfast to late-night dining, from the beach club to the winter garden—he has 21 restaurants and 18 Michelin stars worldwide, pouring his profound understanding of travel, culture, and terroir into every table at this century-old manor. 🍽️ Beauvallon Sur Mer: A Southeast Asian x Mediterranean Dialogue in a Beach Club Alléno's first beach club restaurant project takes a different approach. Born in France, he draws inspiration from the layers and precision of Southeast Asian cuisine, creating a stunning dialogue between Southeast Asian spices and Mediterranean ingredients. The menu is presented in a sharing format: yellowtail tartare with peanut and Thai basil ice cream, sea bass sashimi marinated in white wine and infused with the flavors of green papaya and som tum, and seared tuna steak drizzled with Kampot pepper sauce. Each dish tells a story of culinary memories from a trip. French designer Dorothée Delaye imbues the space with the elegance of the Belle Époque and the relaxed feel of the 1950s French Riviera—wrought iron curves, yacht-style wood paneling, sunny during the day perfect for midday gatherings, and a vibrant atmosphere with DJ sets at night. In the main building, the Winter Garden restaurant, with its glass dome letting in Provençal sunlight, presents Alléno's Mediterranean cuisine with a touch of Nice flair, along with classic French dishes. At sunset, move to the Riviera Terrace Lounge designed by Milan-based Otto firm Paola Navone, overlooking the bay while enjoying a cocktail as the lights of Saint-Tropez gradually illuminate the opposite shore. 🏷️ Private Hotel Experience Facing the Bay of Saint-Tropez, the hotel sits on a four-hectare private estate filled with palm trees, pine groves, and lawns. Each of the 42 rooms and suites is individually designed, housing over 300 contemporary artworks, with 28 suites overlooking the bay. The gardens house the 2002 summer exhibition of the Serpentine Gallery, designed by Pritzker Prize winner Toyo Ito. The COMO Shambhala treatment space offers massages and facials, and daily yoga classes. A complimentary speedboat ride from the private marina takes you to Saint-Tropez in eight minutes, with a second speedboat providing access to Pompe-Lone Beach. 🚗 Local Food and Drink Beyond Dining Every Tuesday and Saturday morning, the Provençal Market on Place des Lices is the most vibrant spot in Saint-Tropez, with over 100 stalls offering seasonal fruits and vegetables, handicrafts, and local specialties. The old port is lined with cafes and restaurants. Louis Vuitton's seasonal restaurant at the White 1921 hotel is helmed by Michelin-starred chef Arnaud Donckele, whose signature dish is grilled blue lobster with basil sauce. For a more traditional experience, try Au Caprice des Deux, renowned for its excellent local cuisine. Don't miss the ubiquitous Tarte tropézienne – Saint-Tropez's iconic brioche with orange blossom cream filling. Accommodation Tip: COMO Le Beauvallon rooms start from €840 per night (approximately RMB 6,720).

Winter Mediterranean Route, You Won't Want to Come Back — traveler post in Cannes

Winter Mediterranean Route, You Won't Want to Come Back

This Mediterranean route, operated by the Ibero II, runs from November 2026 to March 2027, covering the vast waters from Spain to North Africa and from Portugal to Greece. But the real reason I can't help but write about it is the hidden message between the lines: what we show you is the Mediterranean behind closed doors, with the lights off, open only to a select few. Christmas Carols in the Cave, Alhambra Palace After Closing The most impressive experiences this season could each be a highlight for travel inspiration. The first is the private Christmas concert in the St. Michael's Cave in Gibraltar. The natural cave itself is already dramatic, with limestone eroded by water into a Gothic cathedral-like space, usually a spot where tourists line up to check in. But on this voyage, it will be open only to guests on the ship on winter nights, with candles lit and the choir's reverberation filling the space—it’s not a performance, but more like an ancient ritual. Just reading the description gave me goosebumps. The second is the exclusive nighttime visit to the Alhambra Palace in Malaga after closing. Yes, the Alhambra Palace, one of the hardest tickets to get worldwide. After the regular tourists leave, you follow a very small group into the Court of the Lions and the Myrtles Courtyard, with lighting focused only where you should look. The entire palace feels like a slowly unfolding parchment book before your eyes. This kind of tranquility is priceless. The third is the overnight customized journey from Casablanca to Marrakech. Delving into the Red City at night, you can choose to stay in a traditional riad, have msemen pancakes dipped in honey in the courtyard at dawn, then head to the Majorelle Garden to capture the truest blue before the crowds arrive. The core of these experiences is not material luxury but “time others can’t get.” This sense of ease is the greatest luxury itself. Overnight Stops and Late Departures, No More Rushing to Check In Honestly, the biggest pain point of most cruise trips is arriving at a great place but only having four or five hours, barely enough to connect with the city before rushing back to the ship. The smartest part of this journey is the four overnight stops in Casablanca, Lisbon, Madeira, and Malaga, plus late departures from Malaga, Cannes, Syracuse, and Gibraltar. You can stroll through the Christmas market in Funchal late into the night, enjoy a glass of poncha before wandering back to the port; or dress up in Cannes for a Michelin meal, then wrap yourself in a coat by the sea to watch New Year’s fireworks explode overhead, with the entire Riviera lit up just for you. No need to worry about the last shuttle bus; the night itself is your free time. A Gateway to Lesser-Known North Africa and the Canary Islands What excites me most about this route is its tasteful choice of destinations. It doesn’t just repeat those “heard a thousand times” big ports but includes many small places, each a delightful surprise after some research. Ceuta, a Spanish city embedded in the African continent, culturally half European and half Moroccan, with colorful architecture and blurred borders; Algiers, a historic first-time stop for the brand, with the white city skyline layered along the hillside, evoking the gray poetic tones of old films; and the Canary Islands’ Fuerteventura and La Gomera— the former a strange landscape of volcanic wasteland and white sandy beaches, the latter a primeval forest where you can hear whistled messages. They share one thing: few people, few words, and deep scenery. If you care about photography, these places are treasures. No one steals your frame, no tour group flags, the winter light is a warm golden tone with low color temperature, making every shot look like a movie still. Winter ships at sea are not just transportation; they are spiritual sanctuaries. Back to the Ship Itself. The Ibero II’s winter route offers a rhythm especially suited for modern people: not filling every minute with excitement but giving you time and space to decide what to do. All suites have private terraces where you can sip hot tea while lounging and watching the sea, or visit the Ocean Wellness Spa to soak in the heated pool, the contrast between inside and outside temperatures is very healing. The onboard cuisine follows the seasons. In winter, more warm stews, local cheeses, and nut desserts are served, paired with a glass of sherry or Madeira fortified wine. Outside the window is the gray-blue winter sea; inside, candlelight and soft conversations. The atmosphere feels more like a private club’s holiday villa than a ship carrying thousands. This journey is imbued with an “off-season” aesthetic. In the Mediterranean coastal streets and alleys, winter light stretches long, bougainvillea still blooms on balconies, local grandmothers slowly walk home with groceries, and in the squares where tourists have faded, pigeons outnumber people. This is the Mediterranean’s unfiltered true face—quiet, profound, yet rich in detail. If you don’t want a check-in style trip but a journey that lets you slow down with peace of mind and even change your travel aesthetics, then “Winter in the Mediterranean” is probably made for that. No need to rush to squeeze in summer crowds; leave this sea to winter, and it will give you a completely different Europe.

Baie des Anges

Angel Bay—the very name evokes endless daydreams. And after visiting, you'll find it truly lives up to its name. The sand on the beach is fine and soft, and the water is crystal clear, making it an excellent choice for strolling or swimming. The beachfront facilities are also excellent, with a variety of restaurants and leisure amenities, allowing you to enjoy the natural beauty while fulfilling all your daily needs.

Palace of Festivals and Congresses of Cannes

The Film Palace is famous for the Cannes Film Festival. I saw it on TV and thought it was very grand, but when I actually got there, I was a little disappointed. It was not during the film festival, and the Film Palace looked very plain and small. The red carpet road only took 2 minutes to walk, and the surrounding area was not very big.

Cannes Walk of Fame

When talking about Cannes, the first thing that comes to mind is the red carpet and the movie palace. However, the actual movie red carpet palace is not very big. It looks particularly big every year when there are no cameras and tourists! In Cannes without a film festival, the red carpet is a market, a place for people to communicate!

This is truly the soul of the French Riviera! The wide promenade stretches along the Mediterranean coast, with jewel-like blue waters on one side and elegant palm trees and softly colored buildings on the other. Whether you're jogging, cycling, or simply relaxing in the afternoon watching the waves wash over the shore, you're enveloped in the languid romance of southern France. It's especially enchanting at dusk, when the sunset paints the sky pink and purple, and the strolling crowds and street musicians create a vibrant scene – this is the very essence of Mediterranean leisure!

Bd de la Croisette

The Croisette in Cannes is a famous seaside street. It feels romantic to walk, run or do nothing here. Because there are usually bars across the street, it feels very relaxing.
