Hiked Switzerland for a week and took 1,000 photos! It's so beautiful it looks like another world!

You know what I mean, fam! Switzerland is seriously like a PLUS version of Western Sichuan😭 Spent a week hiking in Switzerland🇨🇭, and I wish I could etch every single frame into my memory! If you only have one week, you absolutely must focus on the **Bernese Oberland**🗻 It's packed with waterfalls, alpine lakes, viewpoints, and hiking trails And 90% of these hidden gems are less than an hour's drive from Interlaken🚗 It's truly perfect as a base camp! ✨Just copy my homework! 12 epic spots to check out: 1️⃣📍**Bachalpsee** Interlaken's backyard garden🌿 On sunny days, the lake reflects the Jungfrau, looking like a mirror to the sky! Standing by the lake, it feels like your soul is being cleansed✨ 2️⃣📍**Oltschibachfall, Meiringen** A hidden waterfall in Meiringen! The water flow is massive, and standing on the viewing platform, you can feel the mist on your face🌬️ Super refreshing and cool, a real pick-me-up on the trail! 3️⃣📍**Grindelwald First** The First mountain in Grindelwald⛰️ The cliff walk and flyer here are super thrilling! You also get stunning panoramic views of the snowy peaks🏔️ A scenic route that even hiking newbies can easily handle~ 4️⃣📍**Oeschinensee, Kandersteg** The emerald lake of Kandersteg!💎 The water is really that unreal shade of blue-green! When you hike up and see it, all your fatigue just melts away~ 5️⃣📍**Grimselsee, Grimselpass** Lake Grimsel, a high alpine lake tucked deep in the pass Surrounded by barren, rocky terrain, it feels like another world! Perfect for epic photos📸 6️⃣📍**Engstligenfälle, Adelboden** The Engstligen Falls in Adelboden A super wide row of waterfalls cascading down the cliff, an absolutely awe-inspiring sight! The sound of the water is powerful, and you feel completely soothed🌊 7️⃣📍**Schattenhalb** Here you can get up close to spectacular waterfalls and gorges. It's off the beaten path but absolutely stunning! 8️⃣📍**Augstmatthorn, Interlaken** Interlaken's Augstmatthorn offers the best view overlooking Lake Brienz! After hiking to the summit, you get a panoramic view of the lake and mountains, and it's so moving it might make you cry😭 9️⃣📍**Handeckfallbrücke, Guttannen** The Handeckfall Bridge in Guttannen. Standing on the bridge, you can look down into the deep gorge and the rushing waterfall. Not for those afraid of heights⚠️ 🔟📍**Bachalpsee** (again!) Yes, it was so beautiful I went twice! The light is different each time, changing the color of the lake, and every visit brings a new surprise~ 1️⃣1️⃣📍**Oeschinensee, Kandersteg** (again!) You have to complete the full loop trail around this lake! Every angle is breathtakingly beautiful, and every snapshot looks like a postcard! 1️⃣2️⃣📍**Gelmersee, Guttannen** Lake Gelmer in Guttannen, hidden among the peaks. The water is a deep, brilliant blue, and along the trail, you might even spot some cute little sheep🐑 💡Quick Tips: · Swiss weather is unpredictable, so it's best to bring a windbreaker🧥 · Make sure your hiking shoes have good grip! Many sections have loose gravel · It's windy by the lakes, so protect your camera gear when taking photos📷 · Most trails have clear signage, so no need to worry about getting lost! Switzerland is truly God's backyard garden🌸 You absolutely have to visit the Bernese Oberland at least once in your life to feel what it's like to be surrounded by mountains!

The Ultimate 7-Day Swiss Autumn Guide: Exploring the Golden Alpine Valleys — traveler post in Interlaken

The Ultimate 7-Day Swiss Autumn Guide: Exploring the Golden Alpine Valleys

7 Days, 6 Nights in the Swiss Alps: A Comprehensive Guide | Immerse yourself in Swiss autumn—a fairytale valley of snow-capped peaks and colorful forests All footage captured on-site: Lauterbrunnen Valley waterfalls, panoramic views of the Matterhorn, golden larch forests, traditional wooden mountain villages, glacial canyon waterfalls, crystal-clear alpine lakes, vintage mountain sightseeing trains, historic stone churches, and the mist-covered Alps. Every autumn, the Alpine valleys don a vibrant golden coat. Snow-capped peaks stand against the sky, hillsides are painted in warm golden hues by larch trees, waterfalls cascade down cliffs, traditional wooden cabins dot lush green slopes, and ancient stone churches hide within the valleys. Snow-capped mountains, colorful forests, lakes, and waterfalls—experience it all in one trip. This is the unique romance of a Swiss autumn. 📖 Brief Historical Background These Alpine valleys have been home to mountain villages since the Middle Ages. Local ancestors relied on mountain grazing and built numerous wooden dwellings and small stone churches. The Lauterbrunnen Valley is home to dozens of glacial waterfalls; "Lauterbrunnen" literally means "many fountains." Over a century of mountain railway development has connected these valley towns while preserving their traditional architectural style. Wooden cabins, stone houses, and steeple churches have been passed down through generations, creating the picturesque mountain landscape you see today. 🗓 7-Day, 6-Night Itinerary Day 1: Arrive in Interlaken → Lauterbrunnen Valley Travel: From Interlaken, take the mountain train to Lauterbrunnen. The train winds through colorful forest valleys, offering photo opportunities along the way. Activities: Explore Lauterbrunnen town, visit the cliff waterfalls and the white steeple church, and hike along the mountain trails to see waterfalls cascading down hundred-meter cliffs, framed by golden autumn leaves and mist-covered cliffs. Dining: Try Alpine specialties like cheese fondue and roasted potatoes, order a local beef stew, and pair it with apple juice. You can order hot chocolate at the town's cafes—it's very comforting in the cool mountain air. Accommodation: Stay in a local wooden guesthouse in Lauterbrunnen. Most are family-run inns where you can see waterfalls and snow-capped mountains from your window, offering a truly immersive atmosphere. Day 2: Hiking in Wengen Travel: Take the mountain train up to Wengen. The town is car-free, so you'll explore entirely on foot. Activities: Stroll along the mountain meadow trails, where vast slopes are woven with yellow and green, and old wooden cabins are scattered throughout. Enjoy distant views of the Jungfrau massif. Hike through the autumn forests to see the colorful trees up close, and visit the observation deck to photograph the snow-capped mountains framed by golden trees. Dining: Try Alpine sausages and cheese platters at a small mountain restaurant for a simple local meal. Accommodation: Continue staying in Lauterbrunnen to avoid the hassle of moving luggage. Day 3: Zermatt, Viewing the Matterhorn Travel: Take the Swiss Federal Railways train to Zermatt. The town prohibits fuel-powered cars, so you'll get around by electric vehicle or on foot. Activities: Visit the Matterhorn viewpoint, where the pyramid-shaped snow peak stands above the golden autumn forests, with larch trees covering the hillsides. Wander through the town streets and admire the traditional wooden architecture. Dining: Try local venison dishes and cheese-baked pasta, and pick up some nut bread at a street-side bakery. Accommodation: Stay in a wooden hotel in Zermatt and enjoy the sunset over the snow-capped peaks in the evening. Day 4: Around Zermatt, Alpine Lake Loop Travel: Take the mountain cable car to the alpine lake area. Activities: Hike around the lake, where the crystal-blue water is surrounded by vast golden larch forests. The lake reflects the snow-capped mountains, just like in the photos. Enjoy an easy loop hike and admire the canyons and streams. Dining: Have a light meal at a mountain view restaurant, then return to town for traditional Swiss cuisine. Accommodation: Stay one more night in Zermatt. Day 5: Travel to Verzasca Valley Travel: Take the train south to Verzasca Valley, home to ancient stone villages. Activities: Explore the ancient stone villages with their slate-roofed houses and stone bridges spanning rushing canyon streams, all surrounded by autumn red leaves. Visit the valley waterfalls and walk along the wooden boardwalks through the colorful forest canyon. Dining: Enjoy southern valley flavors, including Italian-style Swiss cuisine like tomato pasta and stewed meat. Accommodation: Stay in a small stone guesthouse in a valley town for an authentic, rustic experience. Day 6: Strolling in the St. Moritz Lake District Travel: Take the train through the Alps to St. Moritz. Activities: Explore the alpine lakeside, where layers of golden coniferous forests line the shore, and the lake water is clear and green. Visit the old stone church by the lake and the vintage church on the meadow to photograph the panoramic views of the forest and lake. Dining: Visit a high-end cafe to enjoy Swiss desserts and cream cakes. Accommodation: Stay at a lakeside hotel with views, where you can open your window to the autumn scenery of the lake and mountains. Day 7: Leisurely Stroll and Departure Spend the morning strolling slowly through the town streets, shopping for souvenirs like chocolate and handmade cheese. Then, depart by transport. 🏡 Accommodation Tips 1. Prioritize wooden guesthouses in valley towns. It's recommended to book 2–3 months in advance during the peak autumn season, as many family-run inns have limited rooms. 2. Prices in Zermatt and St. Moritz are relatively high; choose valley town guesthouses if you want to save money. 3. Most mountain hotels have excellent heating. Autumn nights are cold, but the rooms are warm and comfortable. 🚞 Travel Tips 1. We highly recommend purchasing the Swiss Travel Pass. Most trains and mountain buses are free, and some cable cars offer discounts, making transfers between valleys very convenient. 2. Many mountain towns are car-free and rely on mountain trains and cable cars. Be sure to check the train schedules, as it gets dark early in autumn—don't miss the last train. 3. Be sure to wear non-slip hiking shoes. Mountain trails have fallen leaves, and some sections can be slippery. 🍲 Local Specialties ✅ Cheese fondue and raclette: Iconic Swiss dishes, very warming in autumn and winter ✅ Alpine grilled sausages and mashed potatoes ✅ Local stewed meat (beef/venison) ✅ Handmade chocolate, nut bread, and hot chocolate drinks ✨ Best time to travel: Golden autumn in September–October, when the forests turn completely yellow, offering the same scenery as in the photos. There is a huge temperature difference between day and night in the mountains; wear a light jacket during the day and a thick fleece or light down jacket in the morning and evening. ✨ Prices: Overall consumption in Switzerland is high. Prepare your credit card in advance, though cash is more convenient for some small mountain shops. ✨ Hiking: You don't need to aim for high intensity; choose gentle scenic trails to enjoy stunning views. Do not enter remote forests alone. ✨ Weather: Mountain weather is changeable, switching between sunny and cloudy. Carry a lightweight raincoat. The moment the snow-capped mountains appear on a sunny day, all the travel effort is worth it.

Switzerland... A dreamland of mountains and valleys. You'll never get bored! (5-star rating). — traveler post in Interlaken

Switzerland... A dreamland of mountains and valleys. You'll never get bored! (5-star rating).

Just got back from a 5-day, 4-night trip to Switzerland, and I'm beyond impressed! Switzerland is as picture-perfect as it gets, filled with majestic nature and a charming, simple way of life. Upon arriving at our accommodation, we kicked off our trip immediately in Interlaken before taking a train to Lauterbrunnen Valley—a hidden gem nestled between mountains and waterfalls. The atmosphere there was so peaceful and incredibly stunning. On the second day, we went hiking to soak in the Alpine views and visited some adorable little towns tucked away in the valleys. Honestly, Switzerland is a place you have to experience for yourself at least once! The air is crisp, the people are friendly, getting around is a breeze, and the scenery is absolutely breathtaking. We loved every second and will definitely be back!

Then buckle up, because I’m spilling all my secret budget hacks! 🚀 💡 THE SWISS DIY MONEY FORMULA ✈️ COMPARE ZURICH (ZRH), GENEVA (GVA), & BASEL (BSL) Don’t just default to flying into Zurich! Check prices for Geneva Airport (Route de l'Aéroport 1215, Grand-Saconnex; open 24/7) and EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg (Lyonerstr. 12, 4056 Basel; open 5AM–midnight) too. For example, many accommodations around Interlaken (like Backpackers Villa, Alpenstrasse 16, open 7AM–10PM) throw in a local Guest Card with free bus access and discounts on attractions. The slightly higher price could save you serious money on transport and food! 🎫 USE THOSE FREE PERKS FIRST Before buying transport tickets, double-check the Guest Card perks at your stay. Staying in Geneva? Many hotels offer the Geneva Transport Card—hello, unlimited trams, buses, and trains in the city! 🙌 🚆 CHOOSE THE RIGHT SBB TRAIN PASS Don’t rush to get a Swiss Travel Pass! Compare Supersaver Tickets, Saver Day Passes, the Swiss Half Fare Card, point-to-point tickets, and regional passes. Each option fits different types of trips — no one-size-fits-all! 🚞 SCENIC TRAIN HACK Want those jaw-dropping Swiss rail views? 😍 For some routes, local regional trains use the same tracks as the iconic panoramic express trains (like Interlaken to Lucerne). You get Insta-worthy scenery without the crazy seat surcharge. Score! 🛒 EAT SMART, SAVE HARD Hit up M-Budget at Migros, Prix Garantie at Coop, or pop into Aldi Suisse, Lidl, and Denner for sandwiches, salads, cheap pasta, ready meals, and fresh bakery treats. Your foodie cravings will thank you—and so will your wallet! 🍳 HOSTEL KITCHEN SLAY Make breakfast, pack your own lunch, cook dinner—repeat. Seriously, using that one hostel or guesthouse kitchen could be the difference between broke and bougie. Check out options in major cities like Zurich (Youth Hostel Zurich, Mutschellenstrasse 114, open 24/7). 💧 STAY HYDRATED FOR FREE Swiss tap water is top-tier! Bring a reusable water bottle and look for public fountains labeled “Trinkwasser” or “Eau potable.” Save cash *and* the planet! 🌎💦 🏔️ PICK YOUR PRICEY EXPERIENCES Don’t feel pressured to splurge on every mountain-top attraction. Choose one or two bucket-list experiences (like Jungfraujoch or Mount Titlis), then balance your trip with loads of free lakes, villages, hiking, and forest adventures. Your IG feed will still be fire—promise! 😉 ❤️ THE REAL SECRET? Don’t focus on making Switzerland *cheap.* Focus on making every CHF hit maximum value. Cut costs where you can, so you can ball out on the stuff you’ll actually remember. 📌 Save this post for your future Switzerland DIY trip! 💯 Ready to live that Swiss dream minus the financial nightmare? Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe

Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe is one of Switzerland’s most spectacular mountain destinations, offering an unforgettable experience high in the Swiss Alps. Surrounded by magnificent snow-covered peaks, vast glaciers, and breathtaking alpine scenery, the journey to the summit is an adventure itself. The panoramic views from the top are truly mesmerizing, especially on a clear day when the mountains seem to stretch endlessly into the horizon. Walking through the snowy landscape feels like entering a winter wonderland. The impressive Aletsch Glacier adds even more beauty to the experience. Jungfraujoch is a must-visit destination for travelers who love mountains, snow, photography, and extraordinary natural landscapes.

Paragliding Experience in Interlaken by Paragliding Interlaken

Paragliding in Interlaken is a popular sport among local tourists (especially European tourists). In every corner of Interlaken, looking towards the Jungfraujoch, you can always see paragliders floating in the sky around the Jungfraujoch like dandelions. I personally think paragliding is a game for the brave. Anyway, I don’t dare to play it. I can only watch and envy.

Lake Brienz

The last boat from Interlaken East Station to Lake Brienz was at 15:07, and when we went there, the boat had just left. The staff taught us to take the bus to Brienz, and then catch the boat at 16:40, and take the boat from Brienz back to Interlaken. We bought a second-class Swiss pass, which allows free boat rides. There are not many seats in the second-class cabin, but there are more open-air seats. If you are afraid of the cold, you can get on the boat earlier. I sat in the restaurant at first and thought I had to consume, but after sitting for a while, I realized that there was no mandatory requirement.

Lake Thun

We first took a train from Interlaken to Spez, and then took a boat from Spez to Thun. Lake Thunersee is known as God's left eye. I personally think it is a little worse than Lake Brienz, God's right eye. Lake Thun is greener, while Brienz is bluer. Of course, Lake Thun is also very beautiful, especially with the buildings and natural scenery on both sides. If you take a boat, it is free with a Swiss pass. However, there are few seats in the second-class cabin, and it is a bit cold to sit outside. It is recommended to wear more clothes. From Thun back to Interlaken, we chose to take the bus, and we can see different beautiful scenery along the way.

Town of Spiez

The town of Spiez on Lake Thun is an absolutely charming place to visit. It is backed by mountains, faces vineyards and, most magnificently, is crowned by a splendid castle. The Niederhorn mountain range above the lake stretches all the way to the Bernese Alps, creating a magnificent panorama. The mild climate and bright sunshine make it an ideal starting point for exploring the many famous tourist attractions in the Bernese Oberland or Valais. Spiez Castle is a highlight here, as is the castle gardens. From the castle, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the lake and the surrounding area. Likewise, a detour to the castle church is worthwhile. There are many hiking and cycling trails around Spiez. In addition, the neighboring cities of Thun and Interlaken are also great for day trips. Last but not least, the Bernese Oberland is easily accessible from Spiez.

Hoheweg

Interlaken is definitely a holiday paradise. Overlooking the Jungfraujoch from Herweg Street is a great enjoyment in life and a must-visit place. I felt the idyllic life here, which was definitely worth the trip!

Schilthorn

I wanted to go to Jungfraujoch, but the weather was bad. It was foggy and hard to see clearly. I took the train and then the cable car. I was a little disappointed. Of course, the scenery should be beautiful when the weather is clear.

Harder Kulm

The experience was great. The little car went up and down, and when you got to the top, it was snowing heavily. It looked really cool. The prices at the cafe in the attraction were also reasonable. It was so peaceful to have a cup of coffee while watching the snow fall.

Jungfraujoch Sphinx Observatory

As long as the weather is good, the scenery in Switzerland is amazing. There are fewer tourists at the Sphinx Observation Deck than at the Glacier Plateau, and the wind is not as strong, but the scenery is no less beautiful, and you can experience the beauty of the Jungfrau in 360 degrees. The snow-capped mountains floating on the sea of clouds are really shocking. I always have altitude sickness when I see snow-capped mountains in China, but I don't have any reaction here, which is also magical.
