San Francisco, the city wrapped in romantic fog

San Francisco made a unique impression from the very beginning. The cool ocean breeze, the soft blanket of fog, and the Victorian-style houses perched on the hills created a distinctive charm for the city. In the distance, the Golden Gate Bridge shimmered as the iconic symbol of this place. The journey began with the Golden Gate Bridge. Seeing the orange-hued bridge in person was far more majestic than expected, and walking across it offered breathtaking views of both the ocean and the cityscape. The view of the bridge and coastline from the Marin Headlands lookout was like a painting. Next, I took a ferry to visit Alcatraz Island. Once a former prison, the eerie atmosphere still lingered. Exploring the solitary cells and prison facilities while listening to the vivid stories through the audio guide felt like stepping back in time. For lunch, I enjoyed sourdough clam chowder at Fisherman’s Wharf. At Pier 39, sea lions lounged lazily, and the lively atmosphere was enhanced by street performances and souvenir shops. At Lombard Street, the zigzag road atop a hill, the charming scenery of flowers and gardens was picture-perfect, making it an ideal spot for photos. In the evening, I wrapped up the day with pasta and wine at an Italian restaurant in North Beach. On the final day, I strolled through Golden Gate Park, leisurely exploring the Japanese Tea Garden and art museums. It was a healing space where nature and art coexisted, melting away the fatigue of the trip. San Francisco is a city where the ocean, hills, history, and gastronomy all come together. It’s a destination filled with charm and relaxation, leaving me eager to visit again.
