An 8-year-old in Chengdu bravely explores Chang'an City for 3 days and 2 nights!

Taking advantage of the autumn holiday, we set off for Chang'an City on a whim. As with hundreds of trips before: the focus is on the kid’s experience, not mom’s influencer photos. Day 1: Departed on the 10:28 high-speed train, pre-ordered beef rice from 12306 delivered to the seat. Arrived at Xi’an North at 2:35 PM! 🚗 Took a taxi directly to the Terracotta Warriors, about a 70-minute drive; bought tickets for “The Eternal Love” show which included a Terracotta Warriors guide. Upon arrival, followed customer service instructions to find the guide. The whole tour lasted over 2 hours, with detailed and interesting explanations. The kid loves history, so was very engaged, following the little red flag 🚩 the entire time, parents were left behind. After seeing the Terracotta Warriors, it was already dark. If it’s peak season, be sure to book a taxi in advance to avoid queues!! 🍔 Took a taxi to Guo Lao San Noodle Shop near the Nightless City, tried biangbiang noodles and oil-splashed noodles, tasted normal, but the kid found it fun—two long noodles in a big bowl. Then walked to the Nightless City, passing by Joy City, climbed to the 4th floor to check in with a photo of the Little Tang Monk and Big Wild Goose Pagoda, then went down to the 1st floor where a photographer was taking pictures under many red walls. 30 yuan for 5-8 photos, 4 with retouching for 50 yuan, great value, highly recommended. Continued towards the Nightless City, passed the Tang Monk statue and Big Wild Goose Pagoda, took a photo together~ Across the street is the Nightless City. 🏨 Stayed at Orange Hotel, super convenient! Right at the entrance of the pedestrian street near “The Longest Day in Chang’an,” with many travel photo spots downstairs. The kid transformed into a Jinyiwei (Imperial Guard) for 120 yuan. Day 2: Slept in, had brunch at Wei’s Cold Noodles! The cold noodles were delicious, sour and spicy, very appetizing. The beef burger 🍔 is a must-try! Even I, who don’t usually eat burgers, thought it was tasty 😋. Ordered the sour and spicy noodles, the soup was so good 🉑🉑. Took the subway to see “The Eternal Love” show, very far, over an hour on the subway with three transfers. It’s a large scenic area, so allow plenty of time. Most areas are free, and you can explore before and after the show. It’s recommended to buy tickets for “The Eternal Love,” the supreme ticket is 158 yuan, same price for adults and kids. Since you’re here, get the supreme ticket for front-row center seats, the experience is much better! Took a taxi back to the Drum Tower hotel, about an hour’s ride. The moment you enter, the emotional value is maxed out! The entire Bell Tower is right outside the window. You don’t need to find the Bawang Chaji check-in spot at Kaiyuan Mall like others; you can just lie in bed and enjoy the full view. But! At night, the motorcycles roar through the streets, so as happy as the daytime is, the night can be just as painful. So this depends on personal preference~ Walked about 10 minutes from the hotel to the city wall, dreamed of riding a bike on the wall, but kids under 12 can’t ride or sit on bikes, so just strolled around and paid respects! After getting off the wall, we encountered a street band with half a street of spectators, the atmosphere and participation were amazing! The vibe at Jiuyan Bridge is quite different. Had Jing Shun Xiang hotpot lamb, it was just okay! All the waitresses were aunties, communication was a bit challenging. Wanted to experience Xi’an folk music, but with a kid, we headed back to the hotel to listen to the motorcycle street roar! 🌚🌚 Day 3: Didn’t sleep well all night, but still energetic to go to Xiaonanmen morning market 🤙 The rice cakes were delicious! Pickled garlic was tasty! Spicy soup was good! Fried dough sticks with egg were great! Lamb stew with bread was as delicious as always! Bye-bye, Xi’an, Mount Hua, mighty Qin, see you next time 🤗🤗 Little tips: Rent a car! It’s more convenient and cost-effective than taxis. The Ideal L6 is just over 100 yuan a day 😃
