Wengding Wa is a primitive collective village located in Mengjiao Township, Cangyuan Wa Autonomous County, Lincang City. The natural scenery around the village is beautiful. Because it is basically undeveloped, it still retains the original ethnic architectural style and simple customs of the Wa people. It is a relatively well-preserved primitive group village so far. Walking into the village, it is an open singing venue. Usually, collective activities unique to the Wa ethnic group such as bullying and pulling wooden drums in the stockade are held here. The entire stockade is a bamboo and wooden house with dry columns, facing the sun and mountains, and it is scattered. The log is the skeleton that supports the house. Bamboo boards are used as the floor, wooden walls, and thatched roofs. The indigenous Wa people are hospitable and live a simple life of self-sufficiency. Whenever tourists come here, they will beat wooden drums and sing "Jia Le Jia Le Si~" to welcome them.Cangyuan · 16.8 km from downtown

Deep in the mountains of Cangyuan Wa Autonomous County, the Gengcang Highway winds like a ribbon through pristine monsoon rainforests. The Tiankeng resembles a green vortex carved by meteorites, preserving the secrets of crustal movements within its vertical cliffs spanning over 100 meters in diameter. This is a "living geological museum" with a vertical depth exceeding 100 meters, where tropical rainforests and underground rivers have engaged in a million-year dialogue. The main pit preserves a complete primitive ecosystem at its base, where visitors can descend along zigzagging boardwalks to observe the three-dimensional vegetation belt formed by tree ferns and staghorn ferns on the pit walls. At the underground river outlet on the pit floor, transparent blind shrimp create silver trails in shallow waters across the travertine-formed "stone coral beach." Visiting during rainy season afternoons reveals sunlight piercing through mist, refracting into shifting rainbows across moss-covered cliffs. Beyond geological exploration, you can participate in the traditional Wa mountain folk's scientific research methods: marking rare plants with hemp rope knots and learning to identify underground river directions through canopy gaps. The stargazing platform on the eastern side of the pit offers a "cave star map" experience at night—matching the Tiankeng's outline with corresponding constellation positions. Local Wa village seniors occasionally bring their homemade rice wine to share mysterious connections between the Tiankeng and the "Sigangli" creation epic. We recommend visiting the pit floor during the dry season at dawn, where orchid mantises and dead leaf butterflies perform their mimicry drama among poison arrow trees amidst the morning mist. While there are no Instagram-worthy installations here, geology enthusiasts will find pristine geological records to decipher Earth's folds—each fossilized arrow bamboo serving as a key to understanding crustal movements.Cangyuan · 20.2 km from downtown

The ancient town of Lushi, formerly known as Alusi, is a famous historical town with a long history and profound cultural heritage. It is one of the main roads of the ancient tea-horse road in ancient western Yunnan in Fengqing County, Lincang City, and it is also one of the relatively well-preserved and large-scale ancient buildings in western Yunnan. Because Lu Shi Ancient Town is located on the main road of the Ancient Tea Horse Road and has a long history, people from the south and the north settled here to do business. While the scale of the street market continues to expand, it has formed a "three streets, seven alleys and one square". Long unique pattern. With Sifang Street as the center point of the longitude and latitude lines of the market town, it is distributed in a circle. The residential buildings are mainly based on imitating the northern quadrangle courtyard and the Jiangsu-Zhejiang style triplex courtyard. Siheyuan has gardens, and Sanheyuan has flower terraces, which are painted with murals, poems, and couplets. It is hoped that the house will be round and round, and the wind will gather Qi, and it will be warm and prosperous. At the same time, the architectural model of residential buildings is influenced by the Dali Bai culture, and also has the architectural community of Nanzhao style. Lushi Ancient Town has not yet formed a large-scale commercial tourism, you can live in local folk customs, or stay in the new street above the road. Or go back to Fengqing County for accommodation.Fengqing · 30.1 km from downtown

The Thousand-Kilometer Cliff Mural Corridor got its name because it looks like a dark and colorful Chinese landscape painting from a distance. The murals are steeply formed into cliffs, and some of the cliff faces form cliffs, some are uneven, and the honeycomb-shaped dissolved pores are densely covered, some are smooth and smooth like a knife and axe, and some are like terraces. And the embellishment of epiphytic climbing plants becomes colorful, like a giant mural, depicting the vicissitudes of the ancient land.Cangyuan · 17.2 km from downtown

This rare sight of a primitive tribe truly exudes an ancient and weathered charm, making it well worth a visit. However, I personally feel the services could be improved. Firstly, some roads are unsafe, especially for the elderly. Secondly, the road signs and informational displays need repair; many have become blurred and illegible due to wind, sun, and rain, especially since not everyone hires a guide. Additionally, the county's public transportation system should ideally have scheduled routes; taking a taxi back to town is quite difficult, and almost always requires an additional charge on top of the ride-hailing platform. I hope the attraction continues to improve, making it more convenient and enhancing the visitor experience. This last primitive tribe in our country will surely attract even more tourists.

Lincang Tiankeng mainly refers to the Cangyuan Tiankeng Group. The following is an introduction to it: Basic Overview The Cangyuan Tiankeng Group is located halfway up the mountain in the Yahua Valley Scenic Area in Cangyuan County, Lincang City. There are 7 Tiankengs distributed on the mountain road of more than 10 kilometers, and they are distributed on the same horizontal line. Currently, only one of them has been developed. The developed Tiankeng has a diameter of 184 meters, a depth of about 235 meters, and a circumference of 720 meters. It is currently the largest Tiankeng found in Yunnan Province.   Cause of formation A large amount of limestone is distributed in the Awa Mountain area, which is the material condition for the formation of karst landforms such as underground caves, underground rivers, and Tiankengs. At the same time, several north-south mountain ranges blocked a large amount of water vapor from the Indian Ocean, forming abundant precipitation in the Awa Mountain. A large amount of precipitation cuts and dissolves the longitudinal cracks in the limestone, thus creating a large-scale Tiankeng Group in the Awa Mountain area. Natural landscape - Plant resources: Due to the great depth and height differences, the temperature and humidity are different, and the plants in the pit form a gradient distribution. There are rare plants such as banana, Alsophila spinulosa, and Dong palm, as well as evergreen broad-leaved trees such as oak trees, and deciduous broad-leaved forests such as oak trees. - Geological landscape: There are some unfathomable caves hidden at the bottom of the tiankeng, with lakes, beaches, underground rivers, waterfalls and a large number of stalactites in the cave. Cultural characteristics In the myths and legends of the Wa people's creation epic "Sigangli", there are legends about the tiankeng, such as "After Lu An and Ji Li created the sky and the earth, they were afraid that the sky and the earth would fly away, so they tied the sky and the earth together with rattan. The ancestor of women, Gelibi, lifted the pestle for pounding rice and pushed the sky up high. This big pit is the place where the pestle sank when it fell down." Tourism development Currently, Tiankeng No. 2 has been completed and opened to the public. The scenic area has built glass plank roads, viewing platforms and other facilities. Visitors can stand on the glass plank road and look down, experiencing the excitement while feeling the mystery of the Tiankeng.

The rock paintings are unique, sharing a similar beauty with the Huashan and Helan Mountain rock paintings. The walkways are spacious and clean, with QR codes providing detailed information on the features, locations, and images of the dozen or so known rock painting sites – meticulous and professional! The core area of the scenic spot is a concentrated area of rock paintings, with vivid and clear depictions of various themes, and the visitor walkways are well-designed. Unfortunately, only one rock painting area is open to the public.

Visiting Yonghe Port is like being in a unique painting of the China-Myanmar border. This is a national second-class development port, across the bridge from the Wa State of Myanmar. Standing at the highest point of the small building at the port, you can have a panoramic view of the surrounding undulating mountains and forests and the scenery of Cangyuan County. You can also visit Yonghe Guomen New Village and admire the unique Wa-style houses. The national gate is solemn and majestic, and the five-star red flag fluttering on the side makes people feel proud. Here, the unique landscape of one village and two countries makes people feel the strong border style.
